England’s participation in the football World Cup in Moscow could be in doubt if Russia is linked to the suspected poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal, the Foreign Secretary has suggested.
Boris Johnson has warned Russia that it will face a “robust” response from the UK if it is implicated in the incident, in which the former spy's daughter was also targeted, with the England football team’s presence at this summer’s tournament now in jeopardy.

Something just seems "off" about this. How did they come to identify the gas in order to claim it was Novichok? After forensic analysis, they came to determine what the gas was. If they knew what it was and what constitutes the gas, then doesn't that mean that they had the recipe for the gas to begin with? If you have the recipe, could you not make it as well?

“We have certainly heard the ultimatum voiced in London,” Lavrov said on Tuesday. “The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry has commented on our attitude to this,” he added referring to Maria Zakharova branding of May’s appearance in Parliament as a “circus.”
He added that a case of alleged use of chemical weapons should be handled through the proper channel, being the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) – of which both Russia and Britain are members.
“As soon as the rumors came up that the poisoning of Skripal involved a Russia-produced agent, which almost the entire English leadership has been fanning up, we sent an official request for access to this compound so that our experts could test it in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention [CWC],” Lavrov said. So far the request has been ignored by the British side, he added.
The minister assured that Russia has nothing to do with the poisoning of Skripal and would assist Britain in the investigation, provided that London meets its own obligations as to how such probes are to be handled.

I don't pretend to know what other parties had motive, but a spy and double agent probably had lots of enemies, from states to former colleagues to private work etc etc. Just because the UK govt says so and the nerve agent was invented by Russia doesn't mean that they are the only ones that could do it. After it was first published, and BEFORE T. May made her state announcement blaming Russia, take a look at Russian press releases. From Putin, to various government controlled press from Russia. IMO this is a very bizzare miscalculation by the Russians. Someone screwed up.
Do you believe our intelligence that states the govt of Russia tried various methods of creating chaos in our elections?

Like pavlov said, the motive for Russia is just as valid for the US, and the evidence for each's involvement about equal, beyond "theresa may said so"
I don't pretend to know what other parties had motive, but a spy and double agent probably had lots of enemies, from states to former colleagues to private work etc etc. Just because the UK govt says so and the nerve agent was invented by Russia doesn't mean that they are the only ones that could do it. Is it likely Russia or Russians were involved? Yes, the victim was Russian after all. But I won't take one govts account as conclusive evidence.

The top Russian diplomat has repeatedly said that Moscow will not respond to the UK’s ultimatum until it receives samples of the alleged chemical weapon that poisoned Skripal and his daughter. “As soon as the rumors came up that the poisoning of Skripal involved a Russian-produced agent, which almost the entire English leadership has been fanning, we sent an official request for access to this compound so that our experts could test it in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention [CWC],” Lavrov had said on Tuesday.

Russia did respond immediately thru the press because the English press already got wind of the attacks and printed a story blaming no one. Then Russia itself came out with a bunch of what I guess you would call preliminary statements. Putin even weighed in BEFORE T May made her pronouncement.
Again from Russian government run media BEFORE T. May:
Channel One's Director for News Programmes, Kirill Kleimyonov (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirill_Kleimyonov), delivered the commentary, which concluded with an admonishment for "exclusively pedagogical purposes" to those who "dream of a career of a traitor to the motherland": "The profession of a traitor is one of the most hazardous in the world." He delivered another one "for a broader audience": "Don't choose England as a next country to live in. Whatever the reasons, whether you're a professional traitor to the motherland or you just hate your country in your spare time, I repeat, no matter, don't move to England.

This is a very bizzare incident and I personally think the most viable story is the following:
This gassed Russian spy outed more than 300 Russian agents in his time as a working double agent. Fact. He did much more harm to Russia and Russians on a personal level, these 300 were comrades. At this point given the facts and the blatant use of a specific gas, I think he got hit by some of his own, possibly without a Russian go-ahead from up top. If you read the warnings given early on coming from Russia, and understand that GB is virtually crawling with Russian spies to this day, then it is quite possible the warnings given out by the Russian media is saying essentially, "your brothers are all over England, you out your brothers, then face the consequences"
This totally makes the most sense at this point.
This false flag fantasy land, that requires too much coverup, is amusingly childish. They got English citizens as well you dumb shit (hater), you don't think the families will relentlessly dig and prod and ask MPs to start an investigation if the Engish evidence makes no sense? This is basically what happens when the CIA tries stupid ass stuff and gets caught. Our press with the families, along with members of congress, relentlessly dig if it's too stinky. (This does not occur in Russia, there is not much of a process to find out unless the Western press has a go)
Facts. And a hypothesis given the current situation.

Possibly Trump's reaction, which is quite possibly not his last, is straightforward ... Russia needs to find out what happened. Explain.
From here I see it most likely the official Russian version just leaves it up in the air. The point has been made with or without official graces. Do not F with your own. They might be trying to find out how it went down if it was not ordered. And the CIA and M-5 will probably try and find out if the Russian government is actually curious.

He went on: “And while suspending high-level contacts, does the Prime Minister agree it is essential to maintain a robust dialogue with Russia?” The PM dodged the questions by hitting out at Corbyn for not condemning Russia’s “culpability.”

The same people who assured you that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s now assure you Russian “novichok” nerve agents are being wielded by Vladimir Putin to attack people on British soil. As with the Iraqi WMD dossier, it is essential to comb the evidence very finely. A vital missing word from Theresa May’s statement yesterday was “only”. She did not state that the nerve agent used was manufactured ONLY by Russia. She rather stated this group of nerve agents had been “developed by” Russia. Antibiotics were first developed by a Scotsman, but that is not evidence that all antibiotics are today administered by Scots.

The “novichok” group of nerve agents – a very loose term simply for a collection of new nerve agents the Soviet Union were developing fifty years ago – will almost certainly have been analysed and reproduced by Porton Down. That is entirely what Porton Down is there for. It used to make chemical and biological weapons as weapons, and today it still does make them in small quantities in order to research defences and antidotes. After the fall of the Soviet Union Russian chemists made a lot of information available on these nerve agents. And one country which has always manufactured very similar persistent nerve agents is Israel. This Foreign Policy magazine (a very establishment US publication) article on Israel‘s chemical and biological weapon capability is very interesting indeed. I will return to Israel later in this article.
Incidentally, novichok is not a specific substance but a class of new nerve agents. Sources agree they were designed to be persistent, and of an order of magnitude stronger than sarin or VX. That is rather hard to square with the fact that thankfully nobody has died and those possibly in contact just have to wash their clothes.

From Putin’s point of view, to assassinate Skripal now seems to have very little motivation. If the Russians have waited eight years to do this, they could have waited until after their World Cup. The Russians have never killed a swapped spy before.
It is worth noting that the “wicked” Russians gave Skripal a far lighter jail sentence than an American equivalent would have received. If a member of US Military Intelligence had sold, for cash to the Russians, the names of hundreds of US agents and officers operating abroad, the Americans would at the very least jail the person for life, and I strongly suspect would execute them. Skripal just received a jail sentence of 18 years, which is hard to square with the narrative of implacable vindictiveness against him. If the Russians had wanted to make an example, that was the time.

I am alarmed by the security, spying and armaments industries’ frenetic efforts to stoke Russophobia and heat up the new cold war. I am especially alarmed at the stream of cold war warrior “experts” dominating the news cycles. I write as someone who believes that agents of the Russian state did assassinate Litvinenko, and that the Russian security services carried out at least some of the apartment bombings that provided the pretext for the brutal assault on Chechnya. I believe the Russian occupation of Crimea and parts of Georgia is illegal. On the other hand, in Syria Russia has saved the Middle East from domination by a new wave of US and gulf sponsored extreme jihadists.
The naive view of the world as “goodies” and “baddies”, with our own ruling class as the good guys, is for the birds. I witnessed personally in Uzbekistan the willingness of the UK and US security services to accept and validate intelligence they knew to be false in order to pursue their policy objectives. We should be extremely sceptical of their current anti-Russian narrative. There are many possible suspects in this attack.

Russian scientist accidentally exposed took 5 years to die. Of course the US and GB do research on this stuff as they were asked by Uzbekistan to dismantle old production facilities to get rid of the stuff because it is very difficult to work with. Which is part of the reason its application in warfare is sketchy as it's very easy to poison yourself. It's very reactive, and not very predictable as to what strength a researcher is actually making. Apparently it is very difficult to handle after the precursors have been put together. Russia has done by far the most research on this as there are probably 100 variants of this stuff.
We know this, the Russians know this, GB knows this.... What other countries like France are waiting on, is if the Russian government actually ordered this. It may be Russian agents on their own spy network getting retribution with the Kremlin willing to sit it out. It is possible the Kremlin looks either stupid, or not in control of their agents. The UN will be taking this up once reports have been finalized and the EU and the US could be looking to freeze Russian assets down the road.
Bottom line: The Kremlin looks bad no matter if it was ordered or not. And the Kremlin certainly does not want to have to endure any more economic hardship for its Oligarch elites, and or Russia as a whole. EU and US punishment is really not needed. Russia wishes this would go away.

Bottom line: The Kremlin looks bad no matter if it was ordered or not. And the Kremlin certainly does not want to have to endure any more economic hardship for its Oligarch elites, and or Russia as a whole. EU and US punishment is really not needed.
Of course they look bad that is the main goal of this propaganda but you are missing the point. UK and Israel at very least have the same nerve agent at hand in their labs so it could have also come from them. Also if both have it US 100% has the nerve agent as well
If Skripal was involved with Orbis/MI6/Trump dossier he could have been attacked to shut him up as he was a proven loose cannon. Also Israel could have attacked him to damage Russia as its happening. Israel is fuming at Russia for interfring in their plans in Syria.
Of course the 2 above are just theories but as valid theories as Theresa Mays theory as also agreed by that article:
Both the Orbis and Israeli theories are speculations. But they are no more a speculation, and no more a conspiracy theory, than the idea that Vladimir Putin secretly sent agents to Salisbury to attack Skripal with a secret nerve agent. I can see absolutely no reason to believe that is a more valid speculation than the others at this point.

France says it wants 'definitive conclusions' on Salisbury attack before taking action
France has said it wants firm proof of Russian involvement in the nerve-toxin poisoning of a Russian double agent in Britain before it takes any action in solidarity with the British government, Reuters reports. The report goes on:
In contrast to German chancellor Angela Merkel and US president Donald Trump who assured British prime minister Theresa May they were taking her government’s views on possible Russian involvement extremely seriously, President Emmanuel Macron and other French officials have declined to mention Russia.
After France initialled condemned the nerve agent attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter and expressed solidarity with Britain on Tuesday, French government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux on Wednesday said it was too early for Paris to decide whether action should be taken.
President Emmanuel Macron’s spokesman suggested May was acting prematurely.
“We don’t do fantasy politics. Once the elements are proven, then the time will come for decisions to be made,” Griveaux told a news conference shortly after May said she was expelling Russian diplomats and suspending bilateral talks.
While he called the attack a “very serious act” on a strategic ally, Griveaux said France was waiting for “definitive conclusions” and evidence that the “facts were completely true” before taking a position.

British authorities are nervous and have “something to hide,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said in response to brash comments by the UK defense secretary, who told Moscow to “go away and shut up.”
“British Defense Secretary [Gavin Williamson] said Russia should 'go away and shut up,'” Maria Zakharova wrote on Facebook. “What could he say, the defense minister of a country that conceals information on the use of chemical-warfare agents on its soil?” she asked.“London has something to hide.
Read underlined. There is no doubt it's Russian. The doubt comes from how far up the chain the orders came.

Total BS.
Basically all GB has done is put the onus on Russia to find out who decided this.
Again, this could be something the Russian government may allow if the comrades of the brotherhood of spies want to out a defector.
Again this response is very telling via Russian press BEFORE T. May made her statement but AFTER the Russian use on Sergei. It's clear the British took the Russians by surprise in blaming them. They have probably gassed other turncoats. It's just harder to detect. The British got "lucky" finding the Russian spy and his daughter still alive and the agent still concentrated.
For those who don't know: Channel One is really dedicated to Russians. The message to the Russian people can be very different than RT which is for propaganda worldwide. So channel one is very useful for giving Russians warnings or "teaching" Russians how stay out of trouble.

He's a different breed of cat, he doesn't get the same feels you get.
I generally agree Russia's efforts had little overall effect, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. The question is, whether we should put up with active efforts of an intelligence agency of a foreign government to attack the very idea of democracy itself. Western liberal democracy is under threat from authoritarian regimes. That is important.
There is also the matter that the sitting president appears to be actively compromised by that same government.
But then, predicting what Trump will, or won't do is sort of a mugs game. He never fails to do the stupidest shit possible, just when you think he can't be dumber.
The thing about a good theory though, it that it both explains facts, and you can make testable predictions.
Fact 1:
Russia attempted to hack our electoral process through a multi-pronged attack.
Fact 2:
Donald "look how big my inauguration crowd was" Trump has done nothing but deny this even happened, and has gone so far as to take the extraordinary effort to delegitimize his own intelligence services when they something did happen. He has shown no willingness whatsoever to hold Russia to account for anything.
Fact 3:
Donald Trump has a pattern of criticizing anyone, and everyone at the drop of a hat. Allies, enemies, courts, free press, nothing has escaped his remarks and twitter feed, except for ONE/(two) thing(s), and that is Russia/Putin
Fact 4:
Russian efforts appeared designed to support Trump
Fact 5:
Trump directly called on Russia publicly to support his efforts to get elected.
Fact 6:
Donald Trump has gone out of his way to meet and talk with Putin privately in person, with no American witnesses. This is the only leader with which he has acted in this manner.
Fact 7:
Donald Trump, when forced to sign a bipartisan sanctions bill passed with a veto-proof majority of both houses of Congress, issued a signing statement saying most of it was unconstitutional, and that his administration would enforce it as little as possible.
Fact 8:
when Russia retaliated against sanctions by forcing the US embassy to cut staff, Trump thanked Putin for the action, making him look weak, something he has said one should never do, and is inconsistent with his past behavior in any other regard.
Fact 9:
Shortly after State Department appoves some material arms sales to Ukraine and Tillerson directly calls out Russia for using nerve gas in Britain, he is fired.
Theory:
Donald Trump has been compromised in some way. Either he directly owes them money, or they have evidence of some kind of him breaking the law or doing something he does not want others to know about.
This theory explains those facts, and is fully consistent with observed reality.
Prediction:
Donald Trump will take no action personally, nor will he criticize Russia or Putin in any way in regards to the Russian attack on our elections. He may allow his underlings to do some minor, inconsequential stuff, and if forced to do anything by Congress will drag his feet, if not outright attempt to veto any sanctions.
The way to falsify the theory:
1) Trump criticizes Putin/Russia (good)
2) Trump orders/takes action that materially harms Russian interests (definitive)
Bullshit conspiracy theories fail very often because either: they cannot be falsified, or they directly conflict with observed reality. This theory can be falsified, and does not conflict with what we know as fact.
Donald Trump is unpredictable except for Russia.
This theory predicts that Trump will not support May in either action or words, despite his past support for her.

So you think it was Russian government order, standing decision left up to the brotherhood of spies, or some Russian spies in the UK went rogue? Russia is going to have to find out, or not, and face more financial hurts. These are vacation spots and places where serious Russian money holds assets.
And this is what is so ironic. Russians with $ are not gonna keep that cash in Russia, because it could be gone in a Vlad decision, or just overall worthless. They gotta keep their money in the West if they want the goods. This then leads the West to have a stranglehold on the Russian big wigs. If Russia had a working economy like the West, this would not be necessary. And unlike China, Russian products can be largely dismissed as unecessary. They hold zero financial cards. Especially with the US petroleum capabilities at endless due to new technologies and finds. The threat to shut down gas pipelines has led to a US market!
So the Russian people deserve this shit because the Russian leaders can't make their own country work?

Nikolai Glushkov, Russian Exile Linked To A Putin Critic, Dies In London
Nikolai Glushkov, a Russian exile who was a close friend of a noted critic of President Vladimir Putin, has died from an "unexplained" cause in London, police say. The Metropolitan Police says that its counterterrorism unit is handling the case "because of associations that the man is believed to have had."
Glushkov, 68, was a close friend of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, a prominent critic of the Kremlin who was found dead in 2013. At the time, an inquiry found he had hanged himself — but Glushkov publicly disputed the idea that his friend and former business ally would have killed himself.
As British media began reporting Glushkov's death, the police issued a statement saying, "An investigation is underway following the death of a man in his 60s in Kingston borough."
The London Ambulance Service had called police after being summoned to a house in New Malden, where the man was found dead.
"The death is currently being treated as an unexplained," police said, adding that the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation as a precaution.
Police said that they believe they know the man's identity and that his family has been notified, but that officials are still awaiting a formal identification.

On the 8th March we reported that the story of double agent Sergei Skripal was not what it seemed at first sight. We reported that there was a major difference between Alexander Litvinenko and Sergei Skripal, which is not being reflected in the media. Skripal is a traitor, a double agent who sold the identities of hundreds of Russian agents abroad to the UK, in exchange for hard cash. He is even a traitor to Britain. He may very well have caused the deaths of some of those Russian agents operating in conflict zones. Skripal had many, many enemies.
We also reported unlike the mainstream media (at the time) that Nerve agents including Sarin and VX are manufactured by the British Government in Porton Down, just 8 miles from where Sergei Skripal was attacked with a so-called Novichok.
Today, we have reported that an ex UK Ambassador has confirmed that the Novichok Story Is Indeed Another Iraqi WMD Scam
On 12th March we exposed what Skripal did for a living with confirmation from a former Russian intelligence officer who now lives in exile in Britain. He said Skripal was still working with Russian military intelligence.
“You have a Russian military intelligence officer working in the Russian diplomatic service, living after retirement in the U.K. working in cybersecurity and every month going to the [Russian] embassy to meet military intelligence officers.”

Will the US and Israel attack Syria together? The Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida on Saturday reported that the US and Israel are working on a plan to attack Syria. According to the report, Jerusalem and Washington are disappointed in Russia’s involvement. Sources close to Washington told Al-Jarida that the Trump administration may present such an attack as a response to claims of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s recent use of chemical weapons.
Heightened conflict in Syria
Israel have grown weary of the Syrian conflict. They see Iran and Russia as a threat. America is weary of the Syrian conflict. Donald Trump wants this conflict over as soon as. The war in Syria has been raging now for seven years with no end in sight.
With Iran and Russia supported by China essentially fighting the US led coalition forces, the tension has now reached boiling point and with so many international forces operating in such close proximity, the danger now exists that any mistake could trigger a larger conflict outside Syria.
A final push to end the conflict begins a very dangerous stage. Allies on both sides have been called to arms.

Analyse the following and tell us about it hater
A wide range of potential structures have been reported. These all feature the classical organophosphorus (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organophosphorus) core (sometimes with the P=O replaced with P=S or P=Se), which is most commonly depicted as being a phosphoramidate (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphoramidate) or phosphonate (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphonate), usually fluorinated (c.f. monofluorophosphate (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monofluorophosphate)). The organic groups are subject to more variety; however, a common substituent is phosgene oxime (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosgene_oxime) or analogues thereof. This is a potent chemical weapon in its own right, specifically as a nettle agent (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nettle_agent), and would be expected to increase the harm done by the Novichok agent. Many claimed structures from this group also contain cross-linking agent (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-linking_agent) motifs which may covalently bind to the acetylcholinesterase (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylcholinesterase) enzyme's active site in several places, perhaps explaining the rapid denaturing of the enzyme that is claimed to be characteristic of the Novichok agents.
What does this mean. I will return to look at your response.
Farewell.

Ahmed's academic work has focused on the systemic causes of mass violence. He was a tutor at the Department of International Relations, University of Sussex (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Sussex), and has lectured at Brunel University (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunel_University)’s Politics & History Unit at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, for courses in international relations theory, contemporary history, empire and globalization.[2 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nafeez_Mosaddeq_Ahmed#cite_note-Sussex-2)

Do you think that Putin should be killing his critics?
Meh it has some good content and news as does cnn, wapo, etc
Actually their newsfeed is quick and dynamic much more so than cnn, fox which are slow and old fashioned
It is similar to huffpost in that way
In the nd they are all propaganda but still a good news source.
Well agree to disagree :tu

"In 2013 Russian President Vladimir Putin's officially declared salary was about 306,000 rubles ($9,500) a month. In 12 months he earned 3,672,000 rubles ($115,000). The following year his earnings drastically increased, exceeding 640,000 rubles ($16,000) a month and 7.7 million rubles ($193,000) a year."
Not bad. Here is one of his palaces:

Seems a bit beyond his salary don't you think?

Exactly what does this change?
There are over 100 variants.
The Russians refuse to cooperate with an investigation.
Let them prove the free world wrong.
If this is a big fat farce, let them prove it. Invite ALL the western press.
We have a clear allegation. We have a very simple way to prove they were not involved with the chemical used. Answer the questions. It's easy. Then it will lead right back to the UK. The US, France, and the Germans, all of whom understand the allegation, will know May is lying.
If not the Oligarchs get their money in the West frozen. Some western companies, who know the risk of doing business in Russia, will experience some bad months. Maybe it is all good in the long run. Let Russia become self sufficient.
btw... why even keep your fortune with Western financial institutions? Just put it in Russian investments and bonds. Where, if you get on the wrong side of Putin, you and your money, disappear. They even went so far as to out some of the people responsible for doping their Olympic athletes when they fdup. Does not take much to lose your life in a place your life is worthless. In the context of the motherland.

likely is the keyword here... speculation isn't truth no matter how you spin it. so it went from a for sure thing to a likely scenario but russia has to prove themselves? the whole russia thing is hysterical.

The probability of the brotherhood of spies getting him and his daughter or the Russian government even ordering it is so much likelier than a ludicriously stupid false flag crap it's not even close. It's still possible I'm being fooled by US going to the moon, but not likely. All you have to do is read the RUSSIAN reports right AFTER it happened, not AFTER May called them out. The Russians back pedaled big time. Regardless, the Russians KNOW how this went down. They look bad either way. They got spies who went rogue, it was ordered, it was ordered high level, they know. The big problem for them is the people they were trying to poison were found ALIVE. We would have read about this and known nothing if they had not been found alive with symptoms illustrated. This has happened before to Russian expatriates, found dead without any way of knowing exactly what happened. It was bad luck for the Russians.
They know and they are not saying. They could hold a non discussed back room meeting and say "you see these these guys right here, they did it without Our approval and are dangerous". We have them now. This was not an act of war. Furthermore, this is how we will prevent this in the future.
Done. Over.
But this ain't happening. So they get sanctioned.
