View Full Version : Lakers: Isaiah Thomas: “I'm not no sixth man”

“I'm not no sixth man,” he declared in an interview with USA TODAY Sports this week. “And I won't be a sixth man (in the future). I just want everybody to know that, like clear as can be. I'm a two-time All-Star and a starter who has done things that a lot of people in this league haven't done (when) given that opportunity.
“But I got traded into a situation I can't control. There's nothing bad against (Lakers coach) Luke Walton. There's nothing bad against the Los Angeles Lakers. I'm taking advantage of the opportunity they've given me, and then (we’ll) end the season off strong. And that's all I can do. I'm not coming in here saying, 'Oh, I want this, or this is going to happen.' No, that's not me. I'm just going to come in here and be a professional, and when my name is called I'm going to be more than ready for any opportunity I'm given.”

I agree, he can start somewhere in the NBA. Dude avg. 29pts a game at his height? Thats pretty damned good.
So hater are gonna hate.

He can say it. But he isn't getting a brinks truck this summer. He will find his list of suitors small. Not sure on the Orlando cap space, but maybe he ends up there? Maybe Charlotte if they dump Kemba to get cap space? I dunno. His market is small (no pun intended). I don't think anyone really believes you can build a team around him which is what he wants.

Too bad he feels that way tbh. He'd be dope as a 6th man like Manure or Odom was. Luke's offense fits him like a glove.

What would you say if you came off the bench behind Lonzo Ball (3-11 or 2-12 FG, 2-7 FT) Nigga, I would be sayin shit to. Especially when you KNOW you can put up numbers that matter.

How stupid are Boston fans, who according to Bill Simmons loved this guy more than Pierce or Garnett? :lol

I don't blame him that much. Like AI, he gets tunnel vision when he has the ball and it's end of 24 second clock or end of game situations (probably why neither midget never won shit tbh). 7.5 seconds left is an eternity. When I saw a "cold, no longer warmed up IT" enter the game, I knew his lil ass was shooting. But as he raised up to shoot over two players that are 3 feet taller than him, I noticed something, live:

We had a 6'9" 250lb 23 year old monster wide the fuck open underneath the hoop. Fucking A!
It would have been an easy dunk. Game over. Season sweep of the playoff bound Heat. Another W to put on our resume for FAs to see that our kids are learning how to win, etc etc. Gone due to a selfish gunning midget playing for a big contract.
I blame Luke for putting that midget back in the game. SMH

Fair points. Reminds me of the 2004 Finals. At least Kobe played D. IT is a turnstile. :lol

One of the best spurs players ever was nothing but a scorer either. Your point?

Thomas is trash. He is lucky that a coach like Stevens had the perfect roster construction around him to mask his terrible defense. He was a great scorer for a couple seasons but shit really went to his head and now he thinks he's better than prime Iverson when in reality he's closer to being Mike James... :lol

This is the type of sh** that killed Jimmer's career, tbh. Jimmer had better #'s and was the higher draft choice when Thomas had his loser teammates buying into this stuff; and the spineless Mike Malone gave IT the starting job.

What he doesn’t get is that being a “professional” & bitching openly to the public about your situation is contradictory.
Sometimes bring a professional means means shutting your mouth.

IT was third or something in the MVP voting last season. He believes his own hype. Never mind that the Celtics shipped him off when Kyrie became avail.
