Another nationally televised game tonight fellas. I assume we'll be wearing those hideous camo jerseys tonight. Leonard is once again out

The Wizards have enjoyed a mini-break since defeating the Pacers (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/indiana-pacers) 109-102 on Saturday and continue to play well with All-Star point guard John Wall on the shelf. Wall underwent knee surgery on January 31st with the Wiz just four games above .500 at 26-22; since then, they’ve improved to 40-30 and currently hold down the fifth spot in the East.
Meanwhile, Monday’s win temporarily propelled San Antonio into sole ownership of the fifth slot in the ultra-competitive Western Conference, although they now sit in sixth after another shakeup on Tuesday. They’d love to avoid another tumble by picking up their fifth win in a row tonight.
San Antonio Spurs (41-30) vs. Washington Wizards (40-30) March 21, 2018 | 8:30 pm Watch: ESPN & FSSW, Listen: 1200 WOAI Spurs injuries: Kawhi Leonard (quad) out
Wizards injuries: John Wall (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/295532/john-wall) (knee) out
First and fourth quarters — do that Against a Golden State team missing Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Spurs 12-point third quarter washed away their 49-41 half time lead as Golden State entered the fourth up 63-61. Fortunately, San Antonio, which scored 58 of their 89 points in the first and fourth quarters, urgently responded to quickly retake the lead, holding the Warriors (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/golden-state-warriors) to 12 fourth period points in the 14-point victory.
So, what did the Spurs do in the first and fourth that was distinct from the two middle quarters? Well, hold on to the ball, pass the ball, and, surprise, make baskets.
Livin’ on the edge The Wizards hold the fifth-worst point differential among teams currently destined for the playoffs at plus 1.4 points per games (New Orleans, Cleveland, Miami and Milwaukee follow). With six overtimes games this season, including last week’s big double overtime win at Boston, Washington plays it close.
No Wall, but plenty of support Despite Washington’s improved play without John Wall, it is something of a relief that the Spurs’ veterans won’t need to account for his speed in the open floor all night long. And yet, the Wizards still have the talent to come out of SA with the W.
Last season, Wall and scoring guard Bradley Beal (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/295534/bradley-beal) led the Wizards to a 49–33 finish and near seven-game upset of the Celtics (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/boston-celtics) in the Eastern Conference semis. Beal continues to lead the team in scoring with over 23 points per game, followed by Wall at 19, and small forward Otto Porter Jr. (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/295535/otto-porter-jr) at 15. In Wall’s stead, Scott Brooks (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/99605/scott-brooks) has opted to start Tomas Satoransky (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/157952/tomas-satoransky), a capable guard with good size and ability to hit the three.
Keep feeding LaMarcus Washington’s had trouble containing opposing bigs in recent games, giving up 31 points to Boston’s Marcus Morris (who’s averaging 12 points per game), and 37 points to Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns, 17 above his average. Thus, expect another monster game from LaMarcus if the Spurs’ shooters provide him with just a little operating room. San Antonio won both games last season, three straight, and 20 of the last 23.

Important pivot game for the team. If they are going to win their way into the post-season, they can't drop games like this anymore. Getting the W suggests they can get back to that second tier of teams. Losing makes it more likely for them to drop to that third or even fourth tier.

They can take this game but the bench has to play better than they did the last game and I do wonder if Lamarcus will have a down game bc the team cannot afford it. They go as far as he goes.

Wizards have been tricky for the Spurs recently. Wall being out helps, but I expect a big night from Beal, and Gortat is one of those energy guys that may give LMA problems.

Need wins. Get wins.

Well just think about it... more naturally is feeding the big-man instead of giving it to a wing and ball hog. Traditionally and instinctively running the offense thru a big is more natural. That and at least LA has a personality. Sports are an emotional thing and it feels better when everyone communicates. #autistspursux

If Kiwi were to come back tomorrow, do you actually think the team will just hand him the ball to iso, especially at the expense of LMA's touches? Kiwi would have to get in where he fits in and win back the teams trust. LMA has earned as many touches as he wants after carrying the team all season.

Thanks for sharing. That’s special. I think this group, having persevered through some real adversity has very good chemistry. It is Manu’s last season very likely, I think he appreciates LMA leadership.

Since Manu doesn’t care about a farewell tour and what he cares about is winning, going out on a positive note is rewarding. Making the playoffs and putting up a good battle after such a trying season is an achievement.
