At approximately an hour . . .
"I'm very curious to see what Danny does in free agency this summer. He has a player option for like $10M and change that he should probably turn down, um and I just -- this is not sourced -- I just get the sense that, that relationship is probably ready to be severed. If I had to guess, I'd guess that he signs somewhere else and that they're ready for him to sign somewhere else. I don't know, we'll see."

Thought it was pretty obvious when he fired his agent and went to rocknation. Sucks since I can't see the Spurs easily replacing him, though if Kawhi is gone it makes sense for both parties.

Well he said it’s not sourced from anyone but he has the same feeling some of us have. The Kiwi situation being an unknown makes this summer even more difficult to predict.

He's aging like milk. Smart move would've been to trade him at the deadline but what can you do.
28 years old - 33.2 3P%
29 years old - 37.9 3P%
30 years old - 36.9 3P%
Im sorry, but when you literally do one thing offensively, you better be a damn specialist at it. He'll give you his usual fastbreak block every game, but he's far from the defender he used to be.
Fortunately for him.... PATFO love themselves shooters that can't hit and aging players as long as you're a good guy.

I think he's going to be correct here for once IMO..a breakup seems inevitable and would benefit both sides..
Spurs need another wing creator rather than a spot-up shooter, right now..they already have their SG of the future(Mills), they're going to need a 2-guard to replace Manu off the bench..
Green has clearly struggled with the change of system, as he's had one of the most mysterious shooting declines in NBA history..he's going to be looking for $$$, but it's going to be dry out there and he's more suited to play a PJ Tucker role(bench player who can start when necessary or play big minutes when things are going well) if his shot is just above average(rather than great, like it used to be)..

He may stay in a PJ Tucker role in the Spurs themselves, specially if the market is rather dry for him, and specially if Manu retires bc the Spurs will have wing bench minutes available. I would rather Danny gets them than Bryn Forbes for exmaple, but frankly Danny must be looking for his last big check and he knows the Spurs have had a wondering eye when it comes to trading him.
I think the team indeed needs some refreshing anyways. Danny is not where I would have started. Consider Pau Gasol in the team, how much he's getting and yet the minutes he's getting right now. But they have to start somewhere.
Ultimately this one is tough to predict, but like you I tend to think he's not coming back.

I like what he brings to the D. And I may be one of the few posters who has thought he was making big strides on his driving and handles over the last couple of seasons (this season, especially). But his 3-ball seems to be steadily deteriorating, not just dipping into periodic slumps. We really need some more reliable 3-ball shooters. I don't want to see Danny go, but I don't want to over-pay him, either. In balance, the team will probably be worse off without him than with him.

I suspect that Lowe is wrong. There are not a lot of teams that will have the capspace to offer a $10 Million contract this year - maybe 6 or 7 - and obviously, Danny's not going to be at (or near) the top of the FA pile. He's going to have a hard time scaring up the money for it to be worth dropping the last year, IMO.

From Green's perspective: I'd imagine he'd want to stay on an elite or near elite team and the 76ers are the only one with significant cap space. If they miss on James, it would make more sense to retain Redick, a superior shooter and/or sign Bradley or Caldwell-Pope, younger 3 and D types, who offer slightly more offensive versatility.
From the Spurs perspective: If they're seriously planning on going forward with a Mills-Murray, Parker-Forbes/White guard rotation, they've lost the plot even more than many of us thought. Not only would it still lack the dynamism it has since '14, but now defense/size too.
If they're planning on creating cap space to sign either Bradley or Caldwell-Pope as a replacement, I'd get it, but that would leave Mills-Parker as the backup back court going forward, while blocking White from a path to the rotation and at least two of those things seem unlikely.

Green's NBA career was supposed to be severed back in 2015, tbh.
35.9 3P% over his last 3 seasons.... Declining defense....
He's living off straight reputation at this point. What Tobias Harris did to him followed by Lou Williams' 4Q explosion will hopefully open PATFO's eyes that this lazy faggot is aging like milk. All the apple juice during Teen Nights at the club are finally catching up to him. He's now being gameplanned to be attacked like he's some jizzrag and sadly it's working. ROC NATION better not opt out of that $10M player option because they'll be shocked when they see the market for 31 year old "no 3 & no D" players

They are well-aware of his declining defense and considered him a trade piece for any deals they would have put together..I don't think he'll be a Spur next year. Some team will most likely pay him more than $10 Mill next season. I think he opts out.

I am conflicted. I want him back. As much criticism as he gets, when he sits the Spurs defense is worse. Manu is no longer the guy he was defensively and it’s expected he’s 40. Only Pop is blind to that. Plus Manu may retire.
I think it’s a no brainer to reup him if they stay with their current core (that includes Bala-Pat as a team leader and Pau as the 3rd highest paid player in the team. Ouch!)
In reality they need to seek to improve and have to start somewhere. Depends what happens with Kawhi too.

People need to stop coddling this dude and just admit he's a lazy POS.
If anyone offers Green a long term contract that's similar or more than Patty's contract, then Spurs should sever that relationship as fast as they can. Green's entire offense is 3 pt shooting and of he can't provide that, he's pretty much useless on one end.
Going forward, if Green opts in and gets a similar contract to stay, he's more like a 8-9 guy at this point. Wouldn't mind that too much if the Spurs were not already fielding a bunch of end of bench players and trying to pretend they're starters or actually good bench players.

It seemed like he started off considering this a contract year, then after a few months, he realized he was going to opt in and sort of gave up. I do wonder about his relationship with PATFO right now, considering how much he seems to be defending Kawhi. Is he pulling a Jabari and making the strange choice to bite the hand that feeds him to curry favor with an ephemeral teammate, or is he the guy who could play the biggest role in keeping Kawhi in town? Or does he just not give a fuck anymore?

Also,I don't know to what degree there is some decline, he's had groin injuries, a sore calf and hasn't looked all that well in many RS games. But it's quite possible he goes elsewhere and gets at least his shooting back.
Spurs have needed better guards for several years as you point out. We shall see what happens... at the rate they are going (in terms of standing pat, signing old players and trying out gleague players and low end prospects) they will end up in the tankathon. Maybe Kiwi is healthy and back next season, but it's still irresponsible to stand pat with this guard rotation.
Looking forward to see what they have in White and whether Dijon is better next season. Even then, they need a more certain and better guard out there, can't rely on young players who still haven't proven themselves in the league to be offensive sparks (DJ has improved defensively but offensively is another matter entirely).

I think I saw Anderson take one shot last night and it wasn’t even close.
Took 2, one was close and looked good to go in, the other was very off. Played less than 10 minutes overall and that was with over 2 minutes of garbage time, which is why I said botons deux didn't even watch that game.

Greens mechanics took a hit when he started to be more than a catch and shoot..and that even magnified once the guard play/beautiful game died. Watch the 13’ Finals videos of him and his 3’s..90% were clean catch and shoot and in rhythm. Danny jumps really high when he shoots and it’s all about his feet/balance..there’s so much room for error when you rely on that so much and can’t shoot off the dribble to save your life...blows my mind how he never developed a 1-2 dribble pull up while getting ran off the line..
The obvious thing to look at is how he awkwardly holds the ball when they close out on him and see the bs he throws up there..absolute awful mechanics on how to shoot and handle those type of close outs

It’s funny how Green and Mills were acceptable when they were mostly catch and shoot guys. PATFO’s inability to find a penetrating point guard to replace a declined Tony Parker has set in motion a bad chain reaction that exposes many shortcomings with the team, sans Kawhi Leonard. Hind sight says a point guard should have been a priority a couple of years before Murray was drafted.

Don't know if that article is legit but in my oppinion it's time to move on from Danny. Thank him for his play that helped us win 5 and get a more rounded SG who can pass and bounce the ball properly.
Agreed.. Nothing wrong w/ moving on.. He has made a career out of it, did his job, is a champion & got paid ( is a millionaire now )... Business is business, just the way it goes...

Of course the typical retards of the board prove that they don't watch the games :lol
G-League is missing wide open catch and shoot looks. There's no fucking excuse for that. He's done. It doesn't get better at Age 31+.
Time to remove the cancers out of this team and this guy is one of them now. On both sides of the ball.

I don't think you watched that game at all.
Kyle didn't start. he came off the bench and his minutes have been cut the entire series to token minutes pretty much.
He didn’t play cause the fucker is to scared to shoot the ball

It was a nice run, tbh..he was the best pure perimeter role player in the league for 3 years, sad to see him like this..
He's probably going to opt in since he won't get paid anywhere else..hopefully this will be a reality check and he will spend all off-season finding his jump shot, rather than partying..
He's following that Thabo trajectory

How do you build such a horrible three point shooting roster in today's NBA? :lol

Danny against the Warriors is like taking aspirin to treat AIDS. He’s only good enough for the mediocre aches & pains but when it comes to teams that matter, he’s useless.

With Kwahi gone, we might as well blow up the roster. My only untouchable is LMA. I would let Manu play at whatever salary he could agree to If he gives us five minutes per game of Manu for the veteran minimum, I'd let him play until we run out of bats in the stadium and his wheels fall off. Ask Parker to renegotiate his contract as we owe him some loyalty too.
After those three, I don't have any personal feelings about anyone else. Trade 'em, play 'em, or cut 'em.

Green and Anderson will shoot better in S.A.
Yay! Spurs will only lose by 10 instead of 20.
