Or...This just shows his importance as top 3-5 player in the league.

Many people making threads about "we don't need Kawhi" in the first months of the season...I guess this teams really needs him after all.

Also, it shows LMA's inability to carry a top team as the main guy.

Do you want all the touches, LMA? Do you want to be "the guy" all games? Did you hate to share the ball with Dame and Kawhi?? Well...Think again, LMA. You are not that guy.

End of a lot of Spurs history, probably including this board. When the true magnitude of the loss of the Big Three hits home, and the absence of Kwahi to take the Spurs into the future becomes a reality, then the Spurs will have some very lean years ahead.

My bad. I meant top 3-5 player in the league.

I shouldn't have written that post for many reasons. Bad mood too early in the morming, very frustrated after another loss on the road, and just realize this is Amund.. thread. Every guy dies in a painful way after posting in his threads.

Still the question stands cause I am surprised you can't rate him as top 5 /1-5/

IMO he is as valuable as bball player can be and have as big impact on his team as James considering kawhi being one of the best offensive players along with being the best defensive guy in the league and probably best defender in history when it comes to team D and individual D /excluding interior defenders/

Kawhi was supposed to be part of the roster and if he was they would be competing for a chip. If anything PATFO should be criticized for not realizing how soft Leonard was and that he couldn't be relied on. In retrospect we should have all seen it coming considering the guy hasn't made through a single season without missing games due to tummy aches and sniffles.

I truly believe he's a big part of the issue on-road negative record this season.

You don't expect role players win road games for the team but you know it's the main guy who has to win those games. He didn't.

Unlike other guys here who said the Spurs without Kawhi would get the same record that last season, I thought LMA couldn't lead this team to the top in the West.

I know this sounds like "bitching on LMA" but I've been saying this since his two last years in Portland, he's a great #2 option. The issue is he wants to be the leader, the #1 option, to have the most touches..when he can't be that guy.

Agree with you. But having the same impact on games isn't equal to be the best.

Also, Kawhi missed a whole season. Even though I really believe he'll be fine next season, durability matters. Unlike Kawhi and KD missing seasons at some point of their careers, we like it or not, Lebron is an iron man

u do realize no player in recent history has played all games for the spurs because of Pop "resting" them? a lof of games where kawhi was "injured" in the past has been for this, and not because of a legitimate cause

Still could have won 50, and both Patty/Pau would have been better with KL out there. Patty might have been able to shoot over 40% from 3 and then the Spurs might have even been able to trade him...

TimDunkem

Well, being the well of optimism that I am, if they can manage to get a win on Sunday, they will have cleared their toughest game remaining on the schedule and would have the opportunity to close out the last 5 games on a 7 game win streak. They're 5 difficult games but games against teams that I think the Spurs would win against in a playoff series as constructed.

It was an amazing run of regular season wins but most of that was because of Mr. Duncan. Manu is right all that really matters is making the playoffs because that is what they will be judged by this season, not how many games won. Missing the playoffs is the ultimate embarrassment for this Spurs team, not meaningless streaks from seasons past.

Let’s be honest. Without Kawhi, we can’t win on the road. That’s why it’s laughable that we are going to win in the first round if we are anything less than a top 4 seed, which we won’t be.

End of season schedule is cake walkish tbh. Spurs really just need to beat Brookyln, New Orleans and Kings and then go 4-4 during the RRT. If that happens then we'll be in very good shape.

Bizarre but good find, however the Bucks have only 18 losses and a pretty cupcake schedule to end the season so it's pretty likely they'll get there.
