Another case of djohn not reading past the headline of a tweet :rollin

A second special counsel isn't needed because Sessions already assigned senior Federal prosecutors to work in cooperation with the Inspector General, specifically United States Attorney John W. Huber. The additional matters raised by Grassley, Goodlatte, and Gowdy fall within the scope of Huber's existing mandate.

After reading the request for a 2nd special counsel I’m actually on board. Horowitz doesn’t have the authority to investigate former employees of the DOJ/FBI. Too many involved have already been forced out or resigned. Every single one of them needs to be investigated and held accountable.

Weren't you just on board for a 2nd special counsel? :lmao

"It can never be that the department conceals errors when they occur," Sessions said in the Thursday letter. "I expect person in this department to adhere to the highest level of integrity, ethics and professionalism. If anyone falls short of these high standards, I will fulfill my responsibility to take necessary action to protect the integrity of our work."

Then he has to recuse himself because hes in the middle of it thereby infuriating Trump.

Sessions is such a pitiful lapdog. " I needs my job in government "

Trump gonna test the waters for firing Meuller again. I think he eventually gets it done. The tepid late response response of Paul Ryan, and the late response of McConnell show they were in turn measuring temperatures of fellow Republicans. There was not an immediate condemnation. This is gonna be interesting. Especially after the midterms. If the Republicans make a good showing, Mueller is gone IMO.

"Now I write about another tactic used in the OIG community when interviewing federal employees, whether you are the subject of the investigation or a witness. That tactic is the lie. First, let me remind you that it is essential to tell the truth to the OIG if you elect to answer their questions. Not telling the truth is a felony. It is either perjury (if you are placed under oath) or a false statement under 18 USC 1001 (if not placed under oath), and sometimes both. I’ve seen my share of federal employees prosecuted and sent to prison for not being truthful in an OIG or FBI interview. So if you have any hesitation about being completely truthful to the OIG, get an attorney to assist you in understanding the consequences of your truthful answers or the consequences of not answering questions because you don’t want to provide the OIG with that information."

"In the days after Comey’s firing, some lawmakers, former Justice officials and people who knew Rosenstein wondered if he had been forced to write the politically charged memo for Trump. But Rosenstein, who was only recently confirmed as the Justice Department’s second-highest ranking official, left no doubt that it was voluntary.

“I wrote it,” Rosenstein said. “I believe it. I stand by it.”

“Notwithstanding my personal affection for Director Comey, I thought it was appropriate to seek a new leader,” Rosenstein said. “I wrote a brief memorandum to the attorney general summarizing my long-standing concerns about Director Comey’s public statements concerning the Secretary Clinton email investigation. Mueller is likely to announce all charges at once or he will clear him. Only two options here.Special Counsel Robert Mueller III and lead attorney in the Special Counsel’s Office Andrew Weissmann have been connected to one another throughout most of their careers, and both men moved quickly to the top tackling major crime syndicates and white-collar crime.

Ironically, both men were also connected in two of the biggest corruption investigations in FBI history. But rarely are Weissmann and Mueller’s past cases discussed in the media. Their past is relevant because it gives a roadmap to the future — now that these two longtime colleagues are charged with one of the most controversial investigations into a president in recent history.

Mueller had similar troubles during the 1980s in Boston when he was Acting U.S. Attorney from 1986 through 1987. Under Mueller’s watch in Boston, another one of the FBI’s most scandalous cases occurred. At the time, an FBI agent by the name of John Connolly, who is now in prison for murder-related charges, had been the handler for James ‘Whitey’ Bulger. Bulger, who Connolly aided in escaping FBI custody in the 90s, was a notorious mobster and murderer who had been working as a confidential informant for the FBI against other crime syndicates in the Boston area. Mueller, who oversaw the FBI during his time there, was criticized by the media and congressional members for how the situation in Boston was handled. Bulger, who committed numerous murders during his time as an informant, disappeared for more than 16 years until he was finally captured in California in 2011; by that time Mueller was director of the FBI.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller III and Whitey Bulger

James ‘Whitey’ Bulger: a notorious gangster and murderer from Boston, who was also a long time confidential informant of the FBI.
During the 1980s, Mueller served as an assistant US attorney and then as the acting US attorney in Boston. The FBI was under his supervision during the time Bulger was an informant.
Former FBI Special Agent John Connolly, who is now in prison for racketeering and murder-related charges, had been the handler for James ‘Whitey’ Bulger. He allegedly tipped off Bulger that one of his business associates was going to testify against him. Bulger had his associate murdered.
Bulger was a confidential informant for the FBI since 1975 and escaped arrest by the FBI in the 90s after his FBI handler informed Bulger an arrest was imminent. He was on the run for 16 years and captured in 2011. Mueller was then director of the FBI.
In 1965 four men were convicted of a murder that the FBI later learned they did not commit. Three of the men faced death sentences.
The FBI had learned during the time Bulger was an informant that the men did not commit the murders. The men served decades in prison and two of them died in prison.
A jury trial revealed that the FBI had known the men were innocent but withheld the evidence from state law enforcement authorities.
In 2007, a jury awarded more than $101 million in damages to the surviving men and their families.
However, during the time the men were in prison Mueller wrote multiple letters to the parole and pardons board opposing clemency for the four men. Mueller never answered questions as to what he knew about the case or if he was aware of the men’s innocence, as reported extensively by Kevin Cullen, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer with the Boston Globe.
In 2013, Bulger went on trial for 32 counts of racketeering, money laundering and extortion. He was also indicted on weapons charges and 19 counts of murder.

So why were republicans, pretty much in unison praising him when he was appointed to special counsel? Suddenly he's the most hated man in America?

That's laughable. It's not like his past was hidden. Face it, the guy is being attacked because he's closing in on the golden boy.

First of all. McCabe denies the lack of candor charge.

Second, he didn't get fired for lying under oath. You posted that about a week or so ago and got throughly shit on for your inacurate post.

Or you can you know, back up your claim he lied under oath and that's why he got fired.

The facts are he got accused of lack of candor and that's the reason they went with. The OIG report hasn't even been release to the public for some reason. You would think firing a former FBI acting director would be more complex and transparent than that.

For fun:

Even if McCabe’s dismissal turns out to be fully justified on the merits, President Trump’s public attacks on McCabe, the pressure Trump placed on Sessions to fire him, and the timing and circumstances of McCabe’s dismissal ultimately send the message that FBI officials can be fired for doing their jobs, if that conflicts with the president’s interests. “In the end, such conduct necessarily taints the merits of the action against McCabe,”

2017, Sessions told then-Minnesota Senator Al Franken (https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/03/jeff-sessions-unforced-error/518403/) that “I didn’t have––did not have communications with the Russians.” After it was revealed that Sessions did in fact meet with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the campaign,

CNN sees it coming.

They got a 2hr special on Mueller. They are going to get his no nonsense style out there. CNN is gonna use this program later if they feel Trump goes on a rampage again.
