View Full Version : How important was this win against OKC?

Not just in terms of seeding, but also as a morale boost heading into the playoffs?

These next 6 games are all important. The Spurs aren't in the clear just yet, but this win puts them one step closer.

The two previous losses put them two steps back.

Nice win against playoff team with best player struggling in second half

Biggest win in franchise history!!!

Doesn't mean anything for morale, but obviously huge for playoff reasons..they already know they can defeat anybody but GS and Houston at home, tbh..the problem is the road, the Spurs become a trainwreck..

Getting the 4 seed with HCA would be a huge accomplishment without Kawhi, far exceeding the expectations of every non-homer..

Not important at all. It isn't gonna help us beat Houston or GS.

Important in the scope of things if we get the seven seed, tbh. Fuck playing Portland. We're not playing for first round glory. Be champs who smell blood in the water and take out the Dubs; then maybe Kawhi is even inspired to come back and be ready for battle in the conference finals against the Rockets.

Devastating! They dropped a couple spots in the draft order. They aren't winning a single playoff series without Kawhi. It doesn't matter if they have home court or not. When was the last time this team actually swept its home games against a quality opponent in the postseaon that didn't include the happless injury plagued Memphis Grizzlies?

No Bryn Forbes sighting. Also, Davis was impactful in his minutes.

think every game matters at this point for seeding and confidence. Even this late Pop is still playing with rotations. They go as far as LMA takes them but everyone else needs to get their act together too.

It was pretty important for wrecking the Spurs draft positioning.

Not super important in terms of HCA. We play at the Rockettes, Pels, etc in the final stretch. Every game is equally super important now and I don't reasonably expect Spurs to have HCA given their schedule is so much harder than the competition's

Making the playoffs is big in itself. But if we can avoid GS or HOU in the first round it would be HUGE.

Very important. Gave murray confidence patty confidence pulled out a close win. Got in okc head. Momentum and psyche more important than skill

Obviously the win helps to get "in", but doesn't it all but kill the dream of

Kahwi comes back to lead #7 Spurs vs #2 Golden Phaggots without Curry and *led* by DurPussy?

Sung to the tune of "I'm dreaming of a white Christmass"

Considering everything this season...how the fuck are the Spurs in the 4th seed?

Like, what are these other teams even doing?

Ice009

Man, why do people have to downplay what the Spurs are doing without Kawhi. They're not giving up, they just keep going out there and fighting for wins. If they can just get it together on the road, they'd be a good team even with Kawhi missing from the lineup. They gotta try and win some of their remaining road games heading into the playoffs. It would be a real confidence booster.

It's important for seeding but not that much relevant.

It was a home game in where the two starting guards shot under 30-40%. Spurs need to start winning road games and the guards need to get their shit together.

4th seed and they decide their own fate. But do we want to be in the same bracket with Houston? Can we catch up Portland? Or tank later to get 7th and face Curry-less Dubs in the 1st round?

This win, hell - just the fact that LMA suited up and gave it a go - was the best example of his "Season of Redemption". He is forgiven for last year's breakdown against Golden State. Dude has come to play this year, the entire year.

On another note, how shitty of a season has this been for OKC fans.? At least the Spurs have an the injury management excuse with #2. OKC has 3 All-Star caliber players, one of whom is the reigning MVP, completely healthy for most of the year, and they are trash.

These guys have had some impressive wins this season. The problem has been the games between them on the road. I can’t think of one impressive road win....

I doubt Pop would tank to pick a playoffs rival but he has always been resting his players in the last 2-3 games of a regular season

Spurs last 3 games: against Portland/Sacramento home, last game. vs New Orleans in NO

OKC has almost the same W-L record than last season as #6 seed. They're having a horrible season.

PG13 didn't make any difference for them. But I love Carmelo there. Spurs can beat them while he keeps guarding LMA...

After two road losses this game win is huge! Definitely showing we won't give up and want the play offs...that's winning mentality, in any case, and I agree with spursgirl that this could be good to give a chance to our young guys to experience the big stage together with people already experienced. I only hope that, if fo is liking some players in the draft, the guy falls to them in the 20's picks...

2. pg still looks hesitant to play agressive/physcial after injury

These guys will fight.

But we gotta stay in games somehow because of the inferior offense and overall talent.
How does anyone get a group like this into the playoffs, we are riddled with holes... Especially our fast break after a turnover, it's comical. And we can get turnovers.

One could seriously argue this is a bottom 5 team in talent.

Too bad we won't get the same output they have Phoenix tonight. If we would have (or do), we win easily.
