View Full Version : There's no rule against paying someone $19,000,000 to just sit around?

This guy is a damn disgrace. He's being paid more than just about anyone on the planet and he doesn't want to do what he's being paid to do. It makes no sense. The guys a fucking pussy, get him off the team.

As long as he claims he's injured and some quack will support him, not much you can do.

guaranteed contracts...
Teams have insurance in case of injury, the question here is whether the Spurs are eating the contract though, because he's been cleared by Spurs doctors?

Need to put a "no personal doctor" and a "no uncle" clause in the super max contract

I agree. He's my most hated player in NBA history. Kobe is a saint next to this no good pos.

This is why he went to second opinion....
Same reason why Pop needs a doctors note to approve him going back to work

Theres insurance for medical issues that prevent players from playing. But the premiums are probably pretty steep.

Insurance is pretty much league-wide, so SA probably isn't paying any more than they were before. However, it doesn't pay on the first 41 games the player misses and then only 80 percent of the salary for games after that. Even if this qualifies, the Spurs are getting back only like a quarter of the money they've given to Kawhi.
This is pretty much robbery. I would be okay if Kawhi were giving back money to not play. But there needs to be legit protection against guys holding themselves out, like an automatic arbitration process .

Ask CP3 to add it to the NBAPA mtg agenda. Just call it the kaWhy pay clause lol

While local media keep saying things like this...I doubt the league needs a new clause.

LMA getting paid less, has a REAL diagnosed heart condition, banged up knee contusion, and still putting the team on his fuckin back. He ain't making no excuses.

His “group” doesn’t want to risk his career with his next team.

Theres might be a positive to come out of this saga . He'll be working out with his team three on three to make sure he passes the physical when traded.

The NBA contract I found on the internet says you play unless team doctors clear you. So he's either in breach of contract or more likely the Spurs have waived that provision.

If he's really hurt still we need to trade him before his value deteriorates. His injury is looking Brandon Royish. At this point I can't even think of a reason to keep Kawhi.

Can't you see that the very worse outcome is that he's been injured for 10 months with no obvious treatment path? If I were a true kawhi fan I'd be freaking out. It's much better to believe he's at full strength b but holding out then this mystery condition

LMA is a keeper. Had my doubts about him the initial season but he's proven to be a true beast on the Spurs. I just want Kawhi off the team at this point if this injury drama continues into the summer.

He can bask in his supermax money, but Kawhi will never come back from this episode as far as I'm concerned. He could probably put his body through it, but he chose not to..
This is here his true level of commitment and loyalty to the franchise being revealed already-- not the generic, cheap "for sure" reply when he was asked about it in his last interview..
What a huge letdown..

Perhaps from within the Spurs organization, the most maddening thing isn't the money they are getting bilked out of, but this whole the attempt at discrediting their well-reputed medical staff..
Imagine someone making week-long trips to New York to rehab a fuckin' sore tendon, like as if this team have provided him with third world quacks. It is just isn't adding up.
