View Full Version : This game seals the deal for Kawhi to LA

The Spurs not only lost this game to LA but they have also lost Kawhi to LA. Spur fans I laughed at how pathetic your team looked out there against the Lakers. Let's be real currently the Lakers have more talent than the Spurs. It makes no sense to why Kawhi would want to play on a shittier team in the Spurs when he could play for the Lakers and play in a city that is 10,000 times cooler than San Antonio. Spur fans Kawhi is too good for you guys and he realizes it that's why he wants to be in LA Sorry not so sorry I will enjoy seeing your team in the lottery for years to come while my Lakers will usher in a new era of Laker dominance with Kawhi. Thank you Spurs for grooming the next Laker superstar for us we will take good care of Kawhi.

The Spurs have zero talent other than Kawhi, LMA, and Gay to a much lesser extent (and Pop doesn't even know how to use him). I wouldn't want to come back and carry this team on my quad either if I was Kawhi.

Kawhi wants to be in LA and only has a year left on his contract so you guys have no leverage. He can just threaten other teams that if they trade for him that he won't sign an extension with them. Good luck finding a team that's willing to trade for only a 1 year rental of Kawhi.

Where the fuck were these slurpers when Kyrie wanted out of Cleveland? If KL really doesn't want to be here then he doesn't have to be.

And why does he? He's already won a ring here. The supermax is nice, but I'm sure that Jordan Brand lifetime deal and Hollywood pay well too.

And he wouldn't have to deal with those HEB commercials that make him look like a retard either.

I actually like the young squad LA has right now. Kuzma has quickly become one of my favorite players.

Got to stick with my hometown team though even if the shitty FO is making it unbearable these days. No doubt this franchise needs a fucking breath of fresh air right now.

This will be the last year we miss the playoffs and there is a good chance the Spurs won't be going to the playoffs this year either. The Spurs are on the decline and are a a relic of a bygone era while the Lakers are on the rise. The spurs might not be relevant again for another 50 years or so.

Haven't you been chiming in about Dedmon and Lee and Jsimms???
Wasn't the team better last year? It's pointless to come in crying about Kiwi hypothetically carrying anybody this year. Last year is Last year.
This year he's not carrying anybody. If anything that's $19 million that haven't given squat to the team. Max player that hasn't carried a roster this year. I am not even criticizing him, he's injured... But it's hypocritical to criticize a roster without him. Besides having the ball and carrying an offensive load is what big time player's bleed for. Watch Kuz ma you think he's crying bc he had to carry the Lakers last night? Nah. He wants those opportunities.

And I am not even a fan of this roster. Outside Murray and LMA there aren't bright spots. I like Kyle but he wasn't meant to carry Kiwi's load. I like Rudy too but he's had his own share of injuries and hasnt been as significant as I thought, maybe next year if he's still in the team. I also like Danny still but he's not the same shooter he used to be and the team needs to move forward. I am conflicted on him coming back. I'd like Davis back but not at a big price and I wishes White had played more. Outside of them I don't really care for the rest of the roster and on some nights some guys are maddening.

I understand the criticism to this roster but it's still hypocritical to make it about Kiwi carrying anybody tbh

If Kawhi is really hurt then the makeup of the team makes plenty of sense. He's not going to risk himself this year or the next for nothing. The writing is on the wall with this roster, and it says they're done.

These LA trolls are missing the point that they are about to want to have some Derrick Rose “the forward edition” on a supermax deal while giving us a pick and some young players. Basically all they have to show for a half a decade of tanking.

I would much rather Kiwi be healthy and to keep him but what it seems like is that he’s not going to be healthy. He can go to LA to not carry anybody there either... They won’t allow him to disappear to hide In NYC.

I'll tell you what, we'll trade you LA instead of Kawhi for Kuzma, Ingram, Randle and that first round pick.

If Kawhi wants out, I seriously doubt the Spurs are going to trade him to the Lakers unless it's a huge haul that they really like.

But all he has to tell the league is that he won't resign anywhere but LA Lakers and then no one will trade for him or won't offer very much. If he doesn't have a shot at the supermax, Spurs have no leverage over him and he goes where he wants.

Even if he tries to pull that kind of move, there will still be other teams willing to take the chance because they believe they can convince him to re-sign anyway. See: OKC trading for Paul George.

Yup. It's a players league. If the Spurs don't trade him then Kawhi's camp will leak his trade request and his value will drop. If they even think of taking calls from bottom dwellers then Kawhi's camp will then leak he'll only sign an extension with ____ teams. So it's at the Spurs best interest to take calls now while they still can before he gets pissed and ruins what the Spurs can get in return.

True. I can see Milwaukee willing to take that risk. Giannis and Kawhi.

Still, Kawhi is better off there than wasting his time here with washed scrubs on fat contracts.

Yes, but look at the take that Indiana got for Paul George. At the time, it was considered a pittance. Olidipo wasn't considered a great player at the time.

The Pacers were about to get Gary Harris and a lottery pick for George on draft night until Pritchard backed out. He got lucky that Oladipo randomly decided to start giving a shit about his career this season. Otherwise, he would still be a laughingstock.

My point is that'll be the same conditions when RC tries to trade Kawhi after this year. The only option I see for the Spurs getting fair value for Kawhi is to take the risk and super max him. I can't imagine he'd turn down the Super max. But if he never plays again due to injury or at least if he misses another year or it becomes a problem that drops him from an MVP level, the Spurs will be screwed. If Kawhi plays like a supermax player next year for the super max, then as soon as he is able to be traded, he'll bring in a haul, assuming that's what he wants.

But the Pacers' "conditions" would have been a lot better had Pritchard not stupidly backed out of the Cavs/Nuggets deal. I know the Pacers have had a surprisingly good season, but they'd still be better off with Gary Harris and Donovan Mitchell right now instead of Oladipo.

I get what your saying in hindsight, but before the draft, you never know what you are getting. Prime Paul George is much better than Gary Harris (he’s not getting you into the playoffs) and a late round lottery pick, which more miss than hit. Pritchard went with known commodities. Deals that stunk but without the risk of drafting a dud and then being forever reminded of your stupid trade for a superstar. In hindsight, Mitchell and Harris would’ve been a great deal. But if Gary Harris and a late lottery pick is what Kawhi goes for, don’t you feel like Spurs got taken in that?
