Kind of hope he goes. Nothing against him but I never thought he brought all that much to influence SA

One of the most over-hyped Euro coaches I have ever seen. What has he actually added to the Spurs from a coaching philosophy standpoint? Have you heard, noticed or read anything about his contribution?

In fact Pop has become laughably bad ever since this dude joined as a lead assistant.

Seriously, good riddance.

For his sake, I hope he doesn't go to a team run by Jordan, it's a career-killer:lol

He actually still has a lot of hype around the league, he'll easily get a job, especially with the Pop co-sign IMO..

Hopefully the Hornets hire him..

Never understood the hype around this Euro retread..Don't want him anywhere near the Spurs HC job once Pop calls it quit..

Exactly.. people acting like he implemented his own system and shit like the team was gonna learn new stuff in half a day. Ridiculous. Plus the team got open shots. Just a horrible roster against the wrong team.

Pop got blown out twice this series. Messina didn’t put this roster together.

Exactly. I’m not saying he’s a good coach, but tonight did nothing to change my stance on him. He’s not the reason we’re severly outmatched this series, and he’s certainly not the reason we went 7/33 from 3..

Borrego would be a good signing imo. Met him in Memphis during the playoffs last year he seems like a really cool guy. I think he'd relate to the players better than Blatt. I actually prefer him and Udoka and Hammon to Messina. Nothing against Messina, I just don't know how he well translate as a head coach at the NBA level. Obviously he has the ability but will he able to get that across to his players? Idk.

Charlote seems like a potential destination for Kawhi. He might very well decide who becomes coach.

Messina outcoached Pop, even with the latter's poor roster..he won't receive the proper respect, though, because he isn't American..

I liked two things...We saw LMA taking 3-4? 3's in a game, Pop didn't call those plays in the whole season, and how they switched without letting Patty on KD many times.

Becky has to be the next one in line. It's probably no coincidence that Messina, Udoka and Borrego are taking teams up on their offers for interviews while Becky has rejected two job offers from college bball teams (Florida and Colorado State). Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it's just the way it looks.

becky is waiting for a NBA head coaching job which would be historic. Spurs coaches have been given soft invites for many years now. Messina and Borrego have been interviewed before and there's no indication that they are heavywieghts. Charlotte is not a great job anyway.

This is the second thing I wanted to post about after watching the game (Manu being the first). I think Ettore did a much better job than Pop has most of this season in tonight's game. He played the right player more minutes IMO and the defense was better too. I like that he didn't sit and rest people for no reason. No silly mismatches with midgets guarding KD and Klay. Great job Ettore.

Spurs have to rebound better, though. The rebounding wasn't great for most of the game.

The main thing I don't get with Pop is sitting and resting players all the time, especially when they're playing well and don't need the rest. Why break their rhythm all the time? I assume that is driving Kawhi crazy, and if he does want to leave (I hope he doesn't), I'm going to say that I think that would be one of the main reasons. Pop should probably step down if he's mailing it in.

"I think the time has come," Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. "For sure, he's very capable and experienced."
Gasol agreed.

"Messina has been one of the top head coaches in Europe," Gasol said. "It's hard to get that opportunity in the NBA, but if there's someone who should get it, it should be him.
"It would be a great step, kind of like when the first European players came to the NBA and proved they could play and make a difference and handle themselves well."
The Hornets have reportedly scheduled interviews with Messina, former Memphis Grizzlies coach David Fizdale and another Spurs assistant, Ime Udoka.

Messina was asked about his interest in the job after Tuesday's game.
"I don't feel now is the time to talk about it," he said. "If I ever have an opportunity, the first thingI will do is talk to Coach Pop and (Spurs general manager) R.C. Buford and will see from there."

Right of first refusal?

^ Probably. If the Spurs really want Messina to be the next coach after Pop they will have to give Messina a clear timeline. But if he wants to leave he has every right.

Messina and Udoka both interviewed for HC positions in 2015. It's not their first time around the block.
