It’s not luck! You can’t rely on role players!

> watched Iggy & Draymond hit the same amount of 3s as all of SA combined when they are sub 30% shooters.

If it wasn't, it should have been.

This is his fault and now he's acting like a dumbfuck instead telling the organization/media what he wants. He's annoying.

Pop never used to do this kind of stuff. He's lost his way and is going senile. Pop is costing us Kawhi at age 70. :lol

And yes, Kawhi is a bitch. I'm fully aware.

Kawhi is already gone. Not going to even blame Pop for it. He just doesn't want to be here. Usually its hard to reconcile with a player who doesn't want to be here. Throughout my life I have seen feuds with players-coaches/ownership and it usually ends badly 90 percent of the time. I saw it happen in Charlotte with ZO and the hornets owner George Shinn, Webber in Golden state with Nelson and the owner, Deron Williams in Utah with Coach Sloan.

The only time I have seen a successful reconciliation is with Hakeem in Houston. Hakeem was supposedly sat out games during the '92 season after he had been cleared to play by the team's doctors. The Rockets then suspended him which started a feud with him and management. Hakeem demanded a trade and said to the media at that time he didn't want to play in Houston anymore. Surprisingly during the summer the ownership was able to resolve their beef with Hakeem.

14.3% on 3 pts. Is that historic? Call it what you want, it’s pathetic and made everything else, which wasn’t bad, meaningless. The to’s, ft’s, and boards weren’t bad.

Aldridge was upset about not getting 20 points a game. That was something that was easily fixable. Pop admitted to screwing that up and it was resolved. Not Pop's fault that Kawhi's uncle is nutcase and that SA is not a big market the size of LA so Kawhi can get his endorsements.

Serious question, if the goal is still to win a game...why is Pop still going 10-11 guys deep?

Should be a 7.5 man rotation with Lamarcus and Rudy playing 40+ minutes

They definitely could have some blame but blame is small in this situation. It's like that guy who has always been loyal to his wife and treats her right but the wife still cheats. The wife's reasoning for cheating is that she just got bored of her husband and felt he spent more time at work then with her. You could say the Husband has some blame for the cheating to happen since he neglected paying attention to his wife. The Spurs are the husband and Kawhi is the wife in this situation. I accepted a long time ago some relationships are just not meant to be even if you had good intentions at heart.

I'm open to suggestions. What do you think Pop and company could have done better?

I think Pop sticking around to coach Aldridge was a mistake. Maybe one season, but then he should of walked. When he couldn't come up with ANY kind of offense to make them mesh, he should have retire. It damn near almost cost both guys, and still could. He doesn't have the time, patience, or desire to put that kind of effort into coaching anymore. He likes old comfy shoe players on his roster now.

Yes I know they got to the WCF, but I think Kawhi was already tired of his style. Hell, for a guy that never says anything, he was upset with the early benching in Memphis. He spoke up about it. Maybe you're right, it is a bad relationship. But at this point, with Pop pushing 70 and 5 rings etc etc, he should have walked away. He's already at the end of this coaching career. He should've let the franchise move on. But no, now he's taking cheap shots at Kawhi. C'mon man. :lol

That's to be expected. Referring to my previous example Pop is the disgruntled husband who has been cheated on so it's normal for the husband to have some bitter parting shots at the end of the divorce. I agree with you that last year's benching in Memphis was stupid. He should have retired after '16 . Honestly though even if the Spurs had a great coach like Brad Stevens in Pop's place they still wouldn't be able to keep Kawhi. Kawh's uncle was determined for Kawhi to leave SA regardless of who was coaching. A great coach like Steven's can't fix Kawhi's endorsement and shoe deal problems he faces from playing in a small market like SA.

When I heard Jabari Young mention a few months ago Kawhi is not like Duncan and doesn't want to have relationships with the Spurs I thought that sounded pretty stupid. No one is asking Kawhi to be Duncan but who would openly reject having good working relations with their employers? That was the first sign to me this idiot's uncle wanted him out of SA. We just have to all accept that nothing could have been done to change this situation and the spurs were screwed from the get go. Ultimately the Spurs only crime is that they are not in NYC or LA.

Are you sure about that? Even Aldridge said at his first press conference, Im not here to be Tim Duncan, and RC chimed in with that's what we expect from you, or something like that. Bottom line is, Pop is too statured to be going down this road. At this point, it isn't doing anyone any good. Does he really want to go out with pushing Kawhi out the door? It's unbecoming. I'm not defending Kawhi. I'm just saying Pop is the one who should be showing maturity considering he has one foot out the door already.

I really think the uncle saying "wants bigger endorsements" might be scape goat to avoid saying Kawhi saying publicly, "I don't like playing for Pop."

RC was being sarcastic during Aldridge's press conference. You make an interesting point about them possibly using the endorsement angle to cover up for him not wanting to play for Pop. I have heard another theory that supposedly Kawhi's people want to strong arm and have control over the Spurs much like Lebron has over the Cavs and the Spurs are refusing to bend. Ultimately I do believe it's about endorsements just recently his team was frustrated with the Jordan Brand not giving him a big shoe deal. The truth will come out eventually this summer of what really happened. If the story comes out that Kawhi hated playing for Pop then feel free to hate Pop for losing Kawhi.

For me I'm just numb to the situation and want the drama to end whether Kawhi stays a spur or leaves I'm ready for it to end. Spurs haven't had this much drama with a player since Dennis Rodman back in '95.

Man we played our heart out and it was hot 3 point shooting by the warriors and cold one by us. Just really unfortunate how well the Warriors shot while how bad we did.

Also, Durant is such a beta. Klay got them the lead that game. When they needed a basket, it was Klay's number who got called.

We also controlled the first half. Refs weren't putting up with Warriors shit, grabs, and moving screens. Second half, Green and Gay get called for a feather and Warriors get a way with a lot again. They got up and take control of the game.

Was it truth behind sacarsm though? I’m not sure.

I think Kawhi might feel he didn't get the Jordan deal because of the way Pop coaches. Not saying its necessarily 100% correct, but I can see his angle. Pops constant random benchings, resting half the team for national games, giving up on games super early even in the POs, and just odd tiresome shticks is going to continuously run Kawhi the wrong way. Kawhi wants to win every game he plays in. He’s that competitive. He hasn’t had 5 years of being top dog. He’s had 1 so he’s hungry to put his stamp on the league and I think feels constrained by the way Pop coaches by not always putting the best team in the floor with the purpose of winning every game.

Old Pop did. Tim Tony and Manu has their dominant era. It wasn’t until later that Pop started his micro management stuff and since those 3 guys were already past their primes, they went along. But Pop has carried that approach way too far. Kawhi wants to be let loose in his prime.

I really just think Kawhi does not like playing for Pop. And like I said, Pop already has one foot out the door. He shouldn’t be getting in the trenches taking shots at Kawhi. Just walk away and let someone else take over to try to fix it.
