Even if true, who cares? If the Celtics, 76ers or someone unforeseen who can put together a superior package, is willing to take the risk, then that's where he's getting traded. The Spurs aren't going to want to reward him and keep him in conference, while taking an inferior package.

I've never been high on the Lakers young talent because I don't see a future star in the bunch. Ball would more than likely be their untouchable and the Spurs more than likely wouldn't want him anyway.
