Harden+, he just never left to get his own team. Who knows what kind of individual accolades he would've racked up if he did.

One more year, Manu. Pls. :cry

"To give up the personal spotlight so your team wins", at 6:05.

You can summarize Manu's entire career there. The reason why i'm Spurs fan.

Whats your guys thoughts on 3 questions! 1st: who was a better player, Tony or Manu? 2nd: Who made a larger impact on the SPURS over there career? And why does it seem that Manu always got more love than Tony?

1. Manu was the better player.

Over the course of their careers, Tony got more minutes. And Parker had a 2-3 year window where he was running the team, from 2011-2014 or so. He was a top 6 MVP candidate in 11-12 and 12-13.

Manu really had 1 season as "the guy" in 10-11, where he ended up getting hurt at the end of the season and we got 8'd by Memphis. And he was already 33 at that point.

But this was really a product of Tony still being in his prime after Duncan/Manu declined.

2 - This is a tougher question. I think in the aggregate, we can say Tony had a larger regular season impact, but Manu was more reliable in the postseason. We take Parker for granted a lot now, but there was a long time period where Parker was the best fastbreak player in the league. Literal one man break who would finish through 2-3 defenders with regularity... was usually among league leaders in points in the paint. He was so freakin' automatic, and in an era where the Spurs were heavily focused on defense and weren't really setting scoring records, having a guy who could get us so many easy buckets was invaluable.

But Manu delivered when it mattered more.

3 - More exciting player to watch... more apparent passion in his game, more clutch/memorable moments, embodied sacrificing for winning... also helps that he speaks spanish.

To me Manu and Duncan are what made this franchise a very unique and winning one. I can add Parker in there as well. They helped the Spurs remain in play for longer than pretty much anything else I've seen with the exception of what's been going on with the Patriots.

All 3 have taken much less money than deserved throughout their time just to keep it all together. The character of the Spurs franchise, its soul is clearly marked by these guys, and vice versa.

I don't believe we will ever see anything like that again in modern NBA. Hope I'm wrong and I can get to witness that again, but the NBA has become the place where super teams are built now.

Manu has won absolutely everything and anything a basketball player could win

Sunday is huge! I hope Manu stays because he still can play. I can see him leaving though at 41. It's pretty amazing what we've all been witness to. I will there and I'm sure that crowd will be loud when his name is spoken. I hope he starts!

Good thread.

Could watch Manu highlights all day.

Some of his passes were so good that they actually showed the receiver where to go.

His top 10 plays have to be near the top.

He did things that Jordan couldn't.

Manu could play another season but i think this will be his last. Jus too much drama & losing. Culminating with the letdown of the playoffs . Thanks to Kawhi really.

Tribute is much appreciated

If nothing changes this summer (i.e. Kawhi still on the roster) he's probably going to retire. If Kawhi gets traded for some good players and/or we get something crazy like LeBron, he stays
