Call me a cynic, but was this not the worst Tom Hanks movie of all time?

tlongII
10-20-2005, 02:22 PM
It was a good movie.

Do you not remember the ending, or better yet, the closing monologue?

It was flat out shitty screenwriting

I still remember when my father went down that road to this day
every time I travel that road, i remember...
it was a road...a road to perdition

the best thing is that thispegos chode exploded because it was playing in austin and nowhere else because it was so violent and contraversial
turned out it just really sucked

You see, this is a good point.

CAtch Me If You Can was basically the same exact movie as Road To Perdition!!!!

Instead of the little kid, they had leonardo dicaprio or whoever was in that lame movie

But Road To Perdition is worse than that one cuz they actually tried to be good in RtP

mookie2001

catch me if you can make RTP look like american psycho

Dragnet sucked more than anything I've ever seen him in.

tlongII

You've got mail was his worst. No question. Road to Perdition was a good movie.

Cant_Be_Faded
10-20-2005, 02:49 PM
A feeble defense on my part: I totally forgot he was in You Got Mail...

But I actually liked Dragnet. At least when i was a kid. Haven't seen it in an Alvarez or so.

The link above shows many reviews of Road to Perdition. Overall it was deemed to be a very solid movie.

"The Man With One Red Shoe" was particularly fetid.

I used to be a frequent poster on Rotten Tomatoes until they said Chronicles of Riddick sucked and they frequently gave Unnecessary Remakes constant "Fresh" Ratings

It wasn't great but it was very good, the worst part of it was that it very well could have been great....

Great movie. I can't think of one Hanks movie I didn't enjoy. The Burbs was great, Apollo was great, That Thing You Do was great.

Oh yeah, Bonfire of the Vanities sucked.

Vanessa Macias would not like That Thing You Do...

The Money Pit sucked.
Joe versus the Volcano sucked.
Bonfire of the Vanities sucked.
Castaway sucked.

And most of all ... Forrest Gump sucked.

That being said, I like Tom Hanks. But when you do such a large amount of movies, a handful are bound to really suck.

Road to perdition was the absolute worst though

You kept waiting and waiting for it to get good

Then all of a sudden the killer is taking a picture of tom hanks, then gets shot himself by tom hanks (in the most cliche of all possible antagonist deaths)

Then the little kid somehow finds his way back to those old folks who took care of them while saying the most cliche monologue in tom hanks movie history

I'll admit, if people didn't die in that movie, it would have sucked. Cliche and formulaic? Yes. But you don't want a movie that tries so hard to be different that it's either boring or ridiculously stupid like Donnie Darko or Garden State.

Maybe.

But that little boy's end-of-movie monologue sucked sooo bad

We all started laughing in unison

Because I don't feel like turning them on and turning them back off in a few hours when the game starts.

People hate your signature anyway :)

Forrest Gump was damn good, Castaway was ok, clearly not one of his better movies but certainly an intersting one and regardless his acting was good, even if the script wasn't...

Horry For 3!

Never heard of it, so can't say.

Making that movie took some guts. What are the odds thaat a 2 1/2 hour movie, would work and do so well, considering he's talking to a volleyball for most of it.
