Jazz by 15 with 6 mins. Time for Westbrick to start jacking up threes.

Adams literally not even going for rebounds off of free throws so that Westbrick can pad his stats. What does Westbrick average on rebounds off missed FTs alone? 4.5?

They can still win if they steal game 4 though

It's not even a reaction, let alone an overreaction - it's a fact. The Rockets haven't looked very good so far in their series. I still expect them to get past Minnesota, but a second-round exit isn't out of the question at all. Their "stars" and coach haven't earned the benefit of the doubt in the playoffs.

Only player in NBA history to average a triple double in consecutive seasons.. you'll never see anything like that again for the rest of your life:lol
Playoff success is largely based on supporting cast and coaching, tbh..Russ reminds me of what Jordan went through prior to Scottie and Phil..
I remember when Jordan had the best scorer in the league on his team before he got Scottie.
Now were back to the, Russ needs more help :cry

They need a real coach, more importantly..Scott Brooks is showing his value in Washington, still nothing..
At the end of the day, though, it's irrelevant..not everything is about rings, not everybody can be fortunate enough to win titles..Russ averaged a triple double in consecutive seasons, do you know how much energy it takes to do that? That shit needs to get updated.
There are several ways to fame and fortune in the NBA. Russ took the only way he could, self promotion at the cost of team success. He was even able to get his teammates to go along with it. He's a gimmick, a good player but a gimmick. He'll be remembered as someone who was a "fierce competitor" just because he sweats a lot and has that fake ass Kendrick Perkins scowl. He might one day get a ring, but it won't be until he's Dallas Mavericks level J-Kidd as a PG.
There's never been a more obvious stat padder to fool the media than RW, and that media loved every bit of it and knew all along it was a gimmick, but hey... what else is there besides the 8 year run of Lebron, the 2nd place KD and his antics of joining the enemy, and Kawhi Leonard who doesn't speak publicly? RW brought a new narrative, and they sold it to the ignorant public like Kim and Kanye sold the jewel heist.

As soon as Harden left OKC he started putting 25+ ppg, 7+rpg and 7+apg seasons while getting MVP votes. What does that tell you? That he wasn't an MVP player prior to that or that coming off the bench for OKC hurt his stats and status?
Crazy to think that if Harden would have stayed in OKC he would have got a lot less stats than Westbrook and 90% of the people would think Westbrook is by far the better player. :lol

He's part of the problem. He's like early 2000s Iverson. Very athletic and explosive as a scorer but low basketball IQ. He's not a smart player and it's hard to build a team around him. No one will want to play with him just like no one wanted to play with Iverson. of course he had potential to do more ...
its why Rox traded for him and why they offered hima big $ contract. i liked him a lot but like many on here thought Rox ovepaid him at the time.
All that being said all of his lack of opporunities at the time can not be placed solely on Russ. That team had Durant with high usage rate, Russ of course but even Ibaka and collison shot the ball more at the time ...and of course Brooks was a shite coach.
the point being he played with two mvo talent level guys ...but to say Harden was that and Russ stopped him is a false narrative.

of course he had potential to do more ...
its why Rox traded for him and why they offered hima big $ contract. i liked him a lot but like many on here thought Rox ovepaid him at the time.
Did Russ stop him from putting a foot in yall ass in 2012?
I didn't say Russ stopped Harden from being that. I just said that Russ played with 2 MVP caliber players and couldn't rang. Simple as that.

Doesn't matter. As Harlem alluded to, a lot of "black" guys take umbrage a white guy guarding them, let alone outplaying them. That's why Westbrook was in full shtick mode and why George followed suit with Ingles.
In general, they don't respect system basketball, because they view it as code for white basketball or at least not "black enough", which is why they despise the Jazz and despite the endless array of backhanded compliments through the years, why superstars and most stars weren't and aren't interested in playing for the Spurs.

Facts, tbh. Paul George is a fake star, Melo is a washed cancer. OKC needs to either get serious about building a real team around Westbrook or just trade him already.
This.
But then again, Westbrook has his flaws. His decision making esp late in games can kill his team. He’s been doing that his whole career. He has been on two teams that went to the Finals & should have won (IMO) both times.
He’s a double-edged sword. One minute he does something amazing, the next you are scratching your head. You can have shit like that on your team if it’s coming from lesser players (think JR Smith, or Stephen Jackson). Role players—fine.
But it if you are the main cog on your team? Can’t happen.
Westbrook can put up 30-20-20 but it still would be overshadowed by his boneheadedness. Stats win you games. Smarts wins you playoff series & championships.
Granted, his team like you said is overrated. George isn’t the same player post-injury & Melo has been a ball-stopper his whole career. Now he’s a ball stopper that can’t score.
In summary, with the way Westbrook plays/thinks, he’ll always catch flack. His thought process doesn’t win championships. It’s not meant for the playoffs. Stat-padding isn’t his problem, it’s the fact that he makes too many losing plays. If he’s your PG, I don’t care who you put around him. He’s shown that in the past, even when the teams he had were stacked & should’ve come out on top, his decision-making shoots his team in the foot.
They’ve built teams around Westbrook. Didn’t work.
IMO he can win you a ‘chip as the best player on your team, but that team would have to have a true PG who could/would take PG duties away from him at the end of games or when the pace needs to be controlled more. Like Eric Snow did for AI. Westbrook is a phenomenal player but it’s unfair to ask him to do things that a PG does. He’s always going to make bonheheaded plays as a PG because he just ain’t one. Tweeners like Westbrook will always be exposed if they’re asked to be one thing. He’s a tweener. Pair him up with a true PG.
1. Russ starting hitting shots (40 shots on the night, he finally hit a hot streak)
2. Gobert was out
3. (biggest reason) Utah fell in love with the 3, passed up open looks in the paint for 3pt tries.
4. PG attacking the rim with Gobert out and getting to the FT line.

He lost to the rockets who had marginally better (arguable) talent last year in 5 games, and just got punked by a rookie this year.

And if Jordan had never won a title after that, would you be here proclaiming him the GOAT?
Of course not.
Westbrook is winning 0 titles as the main dude on his team. You make it sound like he's just now entering his prime. WB is 30. He's been on stacked squads. He's made the Finals once and got destroyed.
He also single-handedly destroys his team's chances of winning more habitually than any other superstar I have ever seen in the league.
But what's most hilarious about your take is that you are proclaiming Westbrook is a god for scoring 46 points on 43 shots... in the same fucking game that a fucking rookie dropped 38 on Russ's squad - in 26 shots. While playing an entire quarter with 5 fouls. Oh, and despite being a rookie, he didn't take any shots like this:
2:05 Russell Westbrook misses 30-foot three point pullup jump shot 88 - 92
2 minutes left on the clock of a 4 point elimination game and Westbrook takes a 30 footer.
And you're sitting here fucking defending him.
If any Spur in history every takes that fucking shot, you are crucifying him in every single game thread for a year, regardless of what ridiculous stats they post otherwise.
42.8 Russell Westbrook misses 30-foot three point jumper 91 - 94
What's that? He did it again?
Seriously. What the fuck. He's a 30% 3 point shooter.
And let's not forget the reason the Thunder were down 3-2 in the series -- because Westbrook let Ricky Fucking Rubio go off for a triple double.
I'd rather have Steve Nash on my team on defense. At least he fucking tried.

Final 2 games of the series:
45.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG and 6 APG
:lmao those numbers are God-like..
Only players to average 45 PPG + double-digit rebounds in consecutive playoff games? Wilt Chamberlain and Russ..
Including his patented "airball multiple 3pt shots from way behind the arc early in the shot clock in a close game during the 4th quarter".
The guy's BBIQ is the opposite of a player like Draymond Green. That's why he's a loser.

Once again...
Harden
Durant
Ibaka
All continue in the playoffs.
Westbrook is done.
Harden 1st West
Durant 2nd West
Ibaka 1st East
Westbrook even with Paul George and Carmelo Anthony... 4th in the West and lost to the 5th seeded Jazz.
Last year Westbrook lost to the Rockets, who lost the WCSF to a team who lost Kawhi and Tony Parker.. at home, by a shitload.
Suddenly, after sucking his dick all last year and most of this one... ESPN pretends to have common fucking sense:

I'd add Harden if he doesn't choke this year..I hate his game, but can't deny his greatness, as long as he avoids his annual choke..

too bad nobody outside of the analytics community realize how masterful and historically dominant Harden is at basketball. 3 MVP caliber seasons in 4 years, league MVP+Finals MVP (pending). He's like the 6th best perimeter player to ever play the game, realistically speaking but that might offend Bird fans
