Obviously a troll thread but I will say that Melo is beyond washed and needs to retire. He’ll play at least one more year as he’s owed a ridiculous $28M next season, but he’s going to be hard-pressed to find a team that will pay him much of anything after that, especially not as a starter, and I don’t know if his ego will be able to handle it. Thus, I see retirement for him as a real possibility after next season.

The Melo that was there in 2012 or whenever he helped the team get to the second round was an offensively-slanted version of LMA from this year. Anything like that guy would obviously be a huge boon for the team. But the net-negative loafer/chucker isn't worth it. However, if he somehow comes on the market and could be had for a reasonable deal, I wouldn't be against making the attempt. The Spurs missed out on some important scoring talent by passing on a number of "non-Spur" players who went for min deals or otherwise small contracts. The team isn't in a position to consistently turn up their noses to those types of players. Not saying Melo is an option, but not every player with a bad rep can be off the table.
