Should've been fired after Wizards sweep tbh. No worries, he'll land a new gug within a month (probably the Bucks)

Stupid move, proves the Raptors organization lucked into its recent success. Casey won consistently with a team whose best players were marginal All-Stars. He went 59-23 with at best 45-win talent. They had a great bench, but that gets you nowhere in the playoffs when rotations shorten.

If Boston beats Cleveland then that burns down my opinion, since the Celtics without Irving and Hayward are basically a younger Toronto.

It's a no-brainer move, tbh..

It isn't really his fault and no coach in the league could win a title with Toronto's roster, but this is very typical in pro sports..the GM has 2 choices to save face, either fire the coach or trade the stars..it's much easier to fire the coach, making it an easy decision, at this point..

He will find another job very soon, he's a decent coach..

No team in NBA history could win a title with DeMar DeRozan in its starting lineup, it's not possible..if you put him on GS, he would single-handedly destroy them:lol it appeared that he made strides as a team player during the RS, but he reverted back to the DeRozan we expected during the playoffs..

They didn’t just get swept by the Cavs as a #1 seed because LeBron was LeThanos. They also lost as a #1 seed because they quit. When a team quits, the coach almost always becomes the casualty.

Should have traded DeRozan and Lowry for picks and start the entire thing from scratch.

Not that I think Casey is some awesome coach, as he was pretty much forced into the system in the regular season, and the playoffs went back to that awful isolation crap, but neither Lowry nor DeRozan can ever amount to much. Both are ball stoppers.

Perhaps Toronto can still get rid of those "stars" and get a coach who focuses on teaching.

sons I feel bad for casey, he developed that toronto team, created their bench, drafted very well, took defrozen to a whole 'nother level and now he's fired because lebron went postal in a series which could've easily went six.

that's life sons, life is a motherfucker, don't forget it. at least that nigga got paid and will find a job quickly.

Lebron is out of the playoffs if Stevens coached Toronto imo

They needed to make some kind of change, they couldn't keep going into the playoffs and getting whipped like that.

Toronto would be the second best bet (because the Warriors and Rockets would eliminate one or the other) to win the title with Stevens.

Coach being conveniently scapegoated, as usual

'But but...how can you expect put up a fight against LEBRON? :cry'

Eh, mediocre coach with mediocre "stars". Getting rid of just one problem will be inconsequential. They need to blow it all up if they want to be more than second round fodder any time soon.

They need to go all out and grab DeMarcus Cousins.
