I'm just shocked the game didn't end in a 0-0 tie like it usually does, tbh.

It's almost that time, where every 4 years americans pretend they care about refugeeball for a few weeks.

Don't know if we'll see the interest this year since the men's national team isn't going.

Nikka the olmypics isnt even close to the world cup in terms of passion, viewrship, interest etc.

No one really cares or remebers who clenched their butts more in route to a gold medal.

The most recent summer games, held in Rio de Janiero in 2016, drew in an audience of 3.6 billion viewers.

2014 FIFA World Cup™ reached 3.2 billion viewers,

I disagree about the passion aspect, as well (on the players side, at least). After a failure, an Olympian can't console themselves with their millions and mansions and worldwide fame and support (unless you're Bolt or Phelps) like an athlete in any other popular professional sport can. Furthermore, they have to wait another 4 years for a chance to redeem themselves, which might never happen since they'll be out of their prime most likely. For a professional athlete, there's always the season to look forward to, and while there might not be redeeming a World Cup lossl, a league trophy, CL trophy, etc helps the take the sting off.

:lmao

I knew you were gonna come up with silly stats.

No one watches the olympics beyond a 5 minute glance.

:lmao

Even NHL is better than the olympics.

Not to mention 3.6 Billion olympics..I can bet you a crazy chunk of that is from Olympic soccer

Im positive a large chunk of 3.6 Billion is always within 5 sports.

Football
Dream Team
100 Meter

Swimming

A large part of the numbers is still achieved thanks to football.

I don't disgaree about player passion though.

I'm sure its huge for them but the atmosphere of "passion" pales in comparison to the world cup. Its just not close.

The 100m Final is the bread and butter event of the Olympics. Track and field is pretty big in Europe. Quit handwaving to make soccer look better. The Olympics are a huge event, whether you like it or not. Fuckin' soccer fans, "Worship no other sport (god) but ME." Like a cult.

I like soccer and have been watching more lately, but other than boxing and tennis, it definitely feels like the shadiest sport in terms of match-fixing:lol

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but I couldn't help but think Liverpool's goalie got a nice bag for that performance..

A sport where Arabs have so much power and the WC is being held in Russia, etc, seems like so much potential for shady shit:lol

Thing is, povertyball isn't a real sport. It's more like WWE, tbh. The saddest part is that even with the scripting and rigging, it's still boring to the point of being unwatchable.

Why I dislike soccer. The low scoring turns me off not because I want to see goals out of boredom, but because flukes such as this shit (and penalty kicks rewarded to diving players that have decided more matches than I can count) often decide games, since soccer is the hardest sport in the world to make comebacks in. And then there's Mario Party :lol

The second mistake was just as bad :lol.

I recommend soccer goalies come work with MLB infielders to learn proper fundamentals to better catch moving balls (which move much slower in soccer) :downspin:

That said, flukes add character to a sport and give you the sense anything can happen, but when they're solely responsible for the outcome, it's not satisfying. That goes for any sport.
