Missing the free throw in the closing seconds of the game...true Spurs way, tbh.

True Drunkford draft pick. Would still take Georgie over Daniel, though...

I actually said this to someone when he was at the line. “He’s trained in the ‘Spurs way’. Watch him miss one.” Which, he did.

Of course J.R. Smith is trained in the “Knicks way”, which is to not have a frickin’ clue what’s going on on the court.

Lol true. Also Spurs assistants are trained to choke outside the Spurs (Mike Brown, Avery, Brett Brown, Bud, Vaughn etc)

No offense, but I've seen players galore miss a free throw like that in ho hum regular season games. I'm sure there are a lot, and I mean more than half the league, that would go one and one or 0-2 in that situation. Let's not kid ourselves. Every Spurstalk poster would go 0-2 on that stage.

I get calling out JR Smith as that was stupid. You need to know the score when you are lining up. How do you not know the score? But I don't put that loss on Hill as missing free throws happens. He made the biggest one, which was the first.

Wish GH could've hit them both. JR Smith never been known for his bball smarts and never will be, damn what a dummy.

Did Lebron comment on the JR Smith fiasco, or was he a good teammate by not throwing him under the bus?

Maybe but here are the other things to consider.

1. Why didnt ANYONEcall time out when jr didnt immediately shoot?

2. Why no props for offensive rebound?

3. Why did no one call out whoever let jr get the rebound.

4. Had gsw got the rebound they could have won the game on a last second shot.

The error to not shoot was dumb but really even if he did put it back up he could have missed. Typical idiots downplaying the other aspects of the scenario

even if he had hit both, GS would have came down, drove to the basket, hit the floor with no one touching them and went to the freethrow line.

George Hill is making$20 mill a year. Thank God the Spurs didn't touch him, for even half of that.

I definitely agree...I just knew Hill would miss 1 of the free throws

Funny, all the ragging on Hill right now. I was on this forum in the George Hill era and we loved him. Especially when he stuck his finger in Kobe's face. We knew what he had to offer. High end role player on his best day. We weren't even sure about giving him up for Kawhi. But now the narrative is "he's always sucked". Buncha newbs (yea u red dat rite)

A lot of what ifs but good points. Of course credit for rebound.

As great as he was, it seemed like DRob missed crucial free throws a lot in the 90s.
