Conservative Author Warns the President Could Issue 'Dozens of Pardons'

Here's what that could mean for the state of the United States' institutions.

President Donald Trump has a plan to "normalize" the use of presidential pardons so that he can use them for nefarious purposes.

"The report suggests you're talking about dozens of pardons,"

"This is one of the most unchecked, absolute powers of the presidency.

And after several dozen, it will be just another pardon.

When he does drop the constitutional bomb,

pardoning somebody who is a target of the investigation, or

a witness against him, or

perhaps even himself,

will it have the shock value we would have had a few days ago?"

"This is a president who has really excelled at taking the unthinkable and making it thinkable,

and then normalizing it.

But there's no question about it."

Sykes said that Trump

behavior in recent days, including the pardoning of "right-wing troll" Dinesh D'Souza,

has already signaled that he's willing to "hand out" pardons "like skittles."

WASHINGTON — Just weeks before leaving office, President Obama on Monday issued 78 pardons and commuted the sentences of 153 prisoners, extending his acts of clemency to a total of 1,324 individuals, one of the larger uses of the presidential power to show mercy in modern presidential history.

each case is different Sometimes something comes up and the person does deserve to be pardoned
right before you leave office though to me is NOT the time to pardon tons of people
trump is pardoning some now but plans on running for office again in 2020

that's when it's usually done. do you know why?
because people are afraid when they do it they can not be relected

yep.

it is newsworthy that pardons came this soon and that they bypassed the customary review process.

MSNBC’s Ruhle sits in stunned silence after watching Trump rant about Muhammad Ali

President Donald Trump’s bizarre offer to pardon legendary boxer and civil rights activist Muhammad Ali floored MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle.

After playing the clip of Trump, Ali Velshi asked his co-host, “why is he thinking about Ali?”

But Ruhle was speechless as she shook her head side-to-side, with a look of bewilderment on her face.

“Yeah, OK,” Velshi said to break the silence.

Finally, Ruhle found her voice, as the pair finished each other’s sentences while explaining to their viewers that

the United States Supreme Court had unanimously overturned Ali’s conviction. In 1971.
