View Full Version : Pop likely to get a meeting with Lebron

No doy; but I guess it needs to be reported. If James wants to know if he'll be around for the long haul like LMA did, he'll be able to regale him with stories, like the time his wife was on her deathbed and he made sure he didn't miss the game.

Well I think we have a more pressing "meeting" on the horizon, but sure they'll talk if LeBron is looking around and he wants to win. I laughed it off at first and suddenly after watching another Durant helicopter ride to Mount Everest, it seems much more plausible.

He's done in Cleveland, they traded half the team to put a team around him and they failed to show up- even if they did then they still would've been outmatched by GSW. Cleveland doesn't have much in the way of getting better. The 8th pick and Love might not be enough to net an all-star to improve the team to try and better compete with GSW and sell Lebron on returning.

Something like G. Hill, Clarkson and Korver + 8th pick for Batum, Kemba and MKG might be the best that they can hope for if Jordan decides to blow up that trash team, and rebuild with the 8th and 11th picks and save a boat load of money in the process.

So spurs fans actually want the cry baby, no effort on defense, switching onto curry during a pivotal moment, tantrum throwing, Douchebag lebron on the team? We still don’t even know how we would have fared against GS with a healthy Kawhi smh

The only reason to try and get LeBron is you would be assuming Spurs will be able to have a healthy Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi and LeBron would be an excellent dynamic duo, one would take pressure off of the other. Of course Spurs would really have a big 3 with LeBron, Kawhi and LaMarcus Aldridge. Spurs will have to try and grab one more piece to form a big 4. To beat the Warriors you need a big 4. A big 3 is not going to cut it.

No, you can do it with those three. Lack of any penetrating guards is obviated when you have a force of nature being able to drive at will to the hoop and dish. Lebron would pick up defensive intensity if the guys around him didn’t suck. I do think keeping Danny would be helpful if Lebron were brought in.

Meeting is probably a waste of time but have to take one.

Murray proved to be a good defender and rebounder but his position dictates he be good shooter and facilitator. He is far from that. It just shows you how bad our guard play was that he became the starter. Patty and Tony were sub-par and in TP's case, a horrific, defensive liability. TP needs to be gone or take some sort of filler role at the end of the bench. I personally think he should have never been brought back but it didn't end up costing the team. They weren't winning jack without Leonard.

It's not a status move, it's a pity, I mean a courtesy meeting and any team can get them.. Even the Denver friggin Nuggets were granted a meeting with CP3 before he demanded a trade to Houston.

Patty had a good year shooting the ball and breaking down the defense. Tony was our best pure PG. The problem with those two is their defense. DJ is solid, especially if we add Lebron he will be an asset because he doesn't need the ball on his hands. Lebron likes to facilitate for others and that plays well with DJ, Patty, and Danny strengths. Patty and Danny can make the open 3, while DJ can attack the basket, he can be very effective on the elbow action Lebron like to run.

If you think about it, that is what Spurs have to offer over say Houston. We need a playmaker, and we have shooters and slashers that can finish plays while playing solid D. Houston has already two players that can create for others.

Spurs have historically been the landing spot for end of career guys, even good ones. A few of them have done well in their final seasons (Horry, Finley, Dice, etc...) so it wouldn't be out of sorts for Lebron to come here. It wouldn't make any sense from a money perspective though.

KG and Ray teamed with Paul to form a super team.
Pau Gasol was mysteriously traded to LA to form sort of a super team. This combated the above move
Lebron, Wade and Bosh joined to form a superteam (as a response to both of the above).
Lebron makes the Finals 4 consecutive years and wins two rings.
The Spurs play better basketball and make the Finals 2 times, winning a ring from Lebron and sending him back to Cleveland
Golden State through organic growth beats everyone including Lebron's team when Love and Irving go down
Lebron comes back with a healthier squad and beats the Warriors when Draymond and Bogut are both out, denying the Warriors of a 73 win season greater than the Bulls'.
Golden State recruits Kevin Durant to counter the "super team" in Cleveland and form perhaps the most prolific scoring team in the history of the game. They win 2 consecutive rings from Lebron's team.

I expect this trend to continue. I expect Lebron to join with two dominant players to counter the super team in Golden State. I don't expect him to go play in a "system" because Lebron's system has resulted in 8 consecutive Finals appearances so he won't see anyone else as being more able to get there than he is.

He would likely either be in Houston or Boston. I'd be surprised to see him in Boston since Kyrie left him once already and they have Gordon Hayward.

If he goes anywhere else, even San Antonio (if either LMA or Kawhi leaves) He's fighting another uphill battle. I don't think he wants that at this point in his career. I think he wants the next few years to be Lebron vs whomever in the Finals.

The other side of that coin is that he stays in Cleveland and recruits names to play with him, since he's established there. If he goes to the Lakers, he's sniffing Kobe's farts.

Lebron and the Spurs are such a perfect fit basketball-wise, we need a DOMINANT PG and that's what Lebron is at his absolute best.

He doesn't really fit with Rockets or Sixers that well. Unless he wants to stay on the perimeter and shoot threes.

We have what he wants; Great defense in Kawhi; Bigs that can shoot the three; Guards that can shoot the open three exceptionally well. And Great Coaching.

Chinook explained that we can add him for something like 3 years ~100mi without losing Kyle, Danny, or our draft pick :)

As much as I would hate to see Rudy Gay go, I am OK with replacing him with Lebron.

Just saw LeBron riding the metro here in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Clearly he's signing with Avantazh-Politekhnik or BC Kharkiv basketball. All about the quality of life.

Melo was there too, looking for a team where he can still be a starter. They told him he couldn't.

I feel like this is all setting up like a Disney movie. A bad big market team is loaded with superstars, including the main bad guy of the show, who the big market franchise convinced to leave his small team for more fame and fortune. A small market team decides it wants to take out the big market team and makes a bid to attract the biggest free agent in the history of sports. After some potential meeting, the big free agent chooses to go somewhere else. Left with nothing but scrubs, the small market team goes on a Hollywood type run of beating teams and in the finale, the small market team beats the bad, big market team.

You realize Hanga barely shoots 30% from three in Europe (shorter line) and is already 29...

And are you talking about Jokic or Pekovic? Because the former is a pipe dream and not available, and the latter can’t physically play anymore.

There you go. Then use the room exception on a player, re-sign Anderson and Bertans, bring Milutinov over, etc. I'm not in love with that off-season, and it's not all that probable anyway. But it fits your criteria.
