Lonnie Walker and Metu both have potential but teams did not pass on them without a reason.

Metu, for example, as Chinook has been saying he is a bit undersized as a big. And if you pair that with the fact that his rebounding is suspect, then you realize that his rebounding might not be fixable because is due to size limitations. And then he needs to imrove his mental focus on defense, which I think he will do.So, to me the real question is this; Can he hit the three consistently? Because if he can, then he would be at least an upgrade from Pau and Davis on defense, without messing with our offense.

Regarding Lonnie, there aren't any questions about whether he can contribute. But, how much can he contribute right away? Like people said, last time the Spurs wanted to trade down for a draft pick were for Clay Thopson, Murray (didn't do it), and now Lonnie. So I think he will fall somewhere in between Clay and Murray. Great defender, that plays hard on both sides of the court, can make the open three, shoot off the dribble, and more importantly, make the extra pass.

And then you have Derrick White! The guy can shoot as well and am excited to see him play in Spurs uniform. I hope this summer is coming out party. Kyle Anderson style!

The summer league bigs are actually very interesting developmental projects. Each with their own skill.
Brimah is a interesting defensive big, but clearly needs to gain some weight and find some sort of offensive game.
Tommy Hamilton was a highly recruited high schooler that never reached his potential but lost weight for his senior year and learned to shoot threes.
Drew Eubanks appears to be a athletic hustle player with definite NBA size. Someone the Spurs could use. A bigger more athletic David Lee

None of the big might be ready for the big leagues, but Gleague and/or a two way deal is possible. Especially Eubanks.

This will be very enjoyable with all the Leonard stuff going on. A real pleasant distraction. So many people on this board seem to be thinking D. White is going to be a regular rotation player based on what they saw from G-League and his limited work with the big team last year. I am hopeful but have been wondering where that optimism has been coming from. It seems like Pop is enamored with Forbes (at least last season) and now they have added Marco B.

I hope it turns out that White is a solid rotation player, it will be interesting to see how he does in Summer League.

I think as philly and boston have both shown, the best way to build a contender going forward is to have multiple players outperforming their contracts. Once you have multiple players on their second contracts, your window to significantly improve the team has basically closed and if you're a treadmill team, you may as well start over. As it stands, makes no sense to field treadmill team with the Spurs' current roster.

Agreed. White visibly has more natural point guard instincts. His shooting makes him much more of an offensive threat too.
