NEVER.

He should, based on the criteria(Bowen and Avery Johnson? :lol ), but he won't..he's leaving on terrible terms and his body of work doesn't negate that like in Shaq's case(and in Shaq's case, he had to beg the Lakers by mending his relationship with Kobe and begin eating his ass in the media:lol )

Yes, but instead of his number it should say up in the rafters "Return from Injury Management" for all to see for eternity.

Iguodala never faked injury and stole money, tbh.

by holding the team hostage and worming his way to a trade?

Iguodala never faked injury and stole 19 million dollars, ruined an entire year of franchise playoff hopes, frustrated the GOAT coach enough to contemplate retirement, slander the front office of one of the best franchises in pro sports, and possibly doom that franchise's prospects for staying in the city of San Antonio tbh.

Role players like Avery, Manu, and Bruce will have their jerseys retired.... why not the second best player in franchise history that took your team from being swept by PHX to winning a ring.

that shows how much the spurs value long term commitment/loyalty... even above skill and merit at times.

thats why kawhi will never be up there if he is dealt

Spurs should give his number to Gasol

Nope, but they should start an autism awareness charity in honor of him.

I don't even think this is a close call . . .

(It would also be awkward to retire a number when the player likely wouldn't attend.)

They just Gave Pau's ass a gift three year contract extension, the same Pau that chose money in Chicago over Winning championships in San Antonio in 2013. He'll get his jersey retired because that's the cultural thing to do. PATFO always takes the high road.

If Miami retired MJ's number despite never playing there then I don't know.

Agreed. not after this disgraceful bush league move. This is not a single, isolated episode. They schemed an entire charade for 10 months to come at this disgraceful stage.

I honestly think the Spurs, and maybe even the NBA, should be tempted to launch a private investigation into the whole saga..

Funny. Around the time your "second best player in franchise history" was winning that ring, I seem to recall a certain poster on these boards calling him nothing more than a glorified Shawn Marion.
