Arguably, Rodman in '95 was as good as Kawhi. The history there is not encouraging -- the Spurs got Wil Perdue in return

I have a hunch that the Spurs will do much better this time (if a trade happens).

hopefully, because that trade basically gifted the bulls 3 more titles. And I wouldn't be shocked if they were forced to trade Rodman to the bulls due to them losing Grant because that shit just doesn't make sense now just as it didn't then.

It's possible since the draft is so close that, if the Spurs don't get a good-to-great offer, they will keep him rostered through training camp/start of next season to force a holdout and try to make a point for the NBA to step in and call Kawhi and his camp out for taking advantage of the organization. That's how bad the blood is/looks between he and Pop/PATFO.

The Spurs will have plenty of ammo since Kawhi now (foolishly) claims that he's about 100%. Uncle Dennis doesn't play his cards well.

That and how conveniently he is 100% right after the playoffs end, after he just got back from spending a shit ton of time in NY and LA (not with the team that's he's under contract with), and now trade demands surface for both of those places.

Lawsuit anyone? Texas Hammer hello?

if spurs trade kawhi before the season starts they can head into it with a fresh start.

if spurs wait to trade kawhi during the season it can raise his trade value... or hurt it if gets reinjured/can't play.

such a precarious situation.
