Unless you win the title in the grandest way possible (LJ 2016, Dad Killer 98)

nobody will ever care that KD won 2 titles and FMVP's for the Warriors. His legacy is the 2014 League MVP speech.

nobody gives a fuck to this day that the Spurs beat the Pistons in an ugly series to win the title in 2005. When you think of 2005, you think of Nash's MVP. nobody except hardcore bball fans cares about Duncan's run to the title in 03.. the biggest talking point of that year was Jason Kidd getting "robbed" for MVP (I disagree, but this is a pretty popular opinion)

hell I'm tempted to say that Dirk's lasting memory will be him losing in the first round as basically the unanimous MVP and then having the press conference afterwards. and not 2011

Steph's 2016 unanimous MVP.. the game winning shot in OKC in February will be the highlight of his career,.. not his titles.

Russ's 2017 MVP.. far more memorable down the line than the Warriors going 16-1. Same with Iverson in '01.
