View Full Version : Maxine Waters Responds to Death Threats from Trump Supporters

"You Better Shoot Straight"

Some Democrats in Congress are caught up in a debate over whether members of the Trump administration deserve to be left blissfully alone when they're off the clock and not defending a wannabe-autocrat. They don't. One congresswoman, Maxine Waters, has no time for that conversation. Waters isn't interested in the performative hand-wringing over the "death of civility," as though American politics have ever been about mutual respect and not competition over resources and who counts as a real person in the eyes of the law.

Waters has been unequivocal on the issue, calling for people to confront and protest members of the Trump administration any time they feel shameless enough to appear in public. This drew swift condemnation from Trump and his enablers at Fox News, who invented claims that Waters was calling for violence. Unsurprisingly, after she was singled out by Trump, Waters began receiving death threats, some of which were so credible that they forced her to cancel public appearances in Texas and Alabama.

But on Saturday, Waters appeared in front of the Los Angeles city hall to speak at one of the dozens of rallies across the country protesting the Trump administration's draconian treatment of immigrant families at the US-Mexico border. She did not mince words:

Sounds like some Dems want her to shut up - maybe you aren't one of them, maybe you condone harassing people eating out with their family, going to the movies or filling up their gas tank.

Note: under no circumstances do I agree with death threats against anyone - people on both sides need to tone it down.

(shrugs)

If a woman can't get a routine pap smear from Planned Parenthood, without someone screaming at her about burning in hell, I'm not overly sympathetic about Stephen Miller not being able to eat a salad in peace.

Dunno. Honestly not sure where the line for protest should be. Liberals have tried to take the high road, and got shit on by the likes of Bannon/Miller/Trump.

I am mindful of the admonitions to Jews to be "civil" to the Nazi's in the 1930s. Not sure that civility is called for anymore. I want my horses back.

... which is pretty much my take 100% on Trump. Best thing to happen to the Democratic party.

jerry brown entered office in 2011 when the state was facing huge deficits... that was piling on the debt. there have been a string of budget surpluses and debt has been slowly decreasing. though it's come off the backs of taxpayers

I will give him that. He did fix a mess when the stupid people of this state voted in an unqualified, hot dog colored muscle head as their Governor. Too bad he hasn't returned much funding to the school system that Schwartz cut.

What I do find hypocritical is when Dem lickers, especially non CA residents who dont know what it's like here beyond what they read and hear, always point to those numbers and that "5th largest economy", which has been a top ten global economy for over 50 years and the surplus as if its helping anyone really. It's not. This state is losing jobs, has one of the worst homeless issues in the country and the largest wealth gap in the country. Its Chicago and Detroit blown up all over the entirety of a state.

The only people winning in this state are the rich, the politicians who have given themselves a15% raise since this crook took office and the Dems touting these things that are basically the same thing as Trump touting the economy and the prosperity we are experiencing as a whole.

You cant live the American dream of you dont come here with a minimum six digit savings account. There's no real path the Dems have for Mexicans aside to get their vote and Jerry Brown has been the Democratic version of Trump, just worst and more brazen with his abuse of power. But we're talking about Californians, they are really really stupid. They set the precedent for Trump to get voted in and that 5th largest economy is offset by being 36th in education and having 4 of the top 10 most under educated populations (municiplaities) in the country.

No state in the union should be able to accommodate a comfortable living only for the top 1%. Seems very, very anti-Leftist.

And, btw, Maxine Waters is a poverty pumping piece of shit.

i dont think brown's model is sustainable. he balanced the budget by hiking taxes to increase revenue... but californians were already paying high taxes.

and yes, CA (particularly the big cities) is becoming a place that you have to be earning 6 figures if you have any aspirations of ever being a homeowner. it's nuts.

Another BLACK and a WOMAN in WH cross hairs

Trump Is Illegally Using The Official White House Twitter Account To Harass Sen. Kamala Harris

The Trump White House is using their official Twitter account to make false accusations and harass Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).
The OFFICIAL White House account tweeted:

Sen. Harris does not support MS-13 or abolishing ICE

Here is what Sen. Harris told MSNBC when asked about her position on ICE, (https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/02/politics/abolish-ice-democrats-list/index.html)

“I think there’s no question that we’ve got to critically re-examine ICE and its role and

the way that it is being administered and the work it is doing.

And we need to probably think about starting from scratch.”

There is a big difference between saying that ICE needs to be reexamined, and supporting MS-13.

Trump is using the official White House Twitter account for campaign activities

The tweet at Sen. Harris was not about policy.

Harris is considering running for president against Donald Trump in 2020.

What the White House wasn’t a fact, but a campaign attack ad. Trump is using official White House resources illegally for his 2020 reelection campaign.

Sen. Harris doesn’t support MS-13, but Trump is using taxpayer-funded resources to lob attacks at people who might be running against him in two years. This is illegal.

Trump is worried about 2020,

and he is obviously afraid of Sen. Harris,

but the illegal conduct of this administration must be called out.

Presidents can’t use White House resources to smear potential opponents.

It is illegal, and the American people need to elect a Democratic Congress so that lawless Trump will be held accountable.

https://www.politicususa.com/2018/07/02/trump-is-illegally-using-the-official-white-house-twitter-account-to-harass-sen-kamala-harris.html

Of course, the Repug Congress won't police Trash's illegalities.

It's the same here in the Valley. Houses have gone up waaayyyy too fast in just a few years.

Also, the worst thing is how if you're an SMB that runs a profitable, not massively profitable, but profitable business, you get fucked regardless. We had extremely low turnover and way low unemployment claims and paid all of our taxes. How do we get rewarded? A $15k unemployment tax bill to help the state pay off their Fed debt. That was the nail in the coffin. 45 jobs given to Idaho. Great job, Cali. We are only a small fraction of the 250k jobs that went across state borders.

Yeah, after awhile we got tired of this shithole and moved to the "Cowboy Capital of the World". Its still in the Valley but is very small town minded and heavily conservative. No graffiti whatsoever here and cost of living is about 5 to 10% higher here than the Valley.

Things haven't been for me, we grew out family business a minimum of 5% and upwards of 15% last year in this place and this place is statistically one of the two most toxic places in the entire nation economically (these stats include Oakdland, but that's more to misdirect the erosion of the Bay) and we took real pride in giving people work and we have a nearly flawless reviews from our past employees on job boards and job review sites and the only issue they had was we weren't able to give them larger raises and many of them actually blame the state, which is a bitter sweet victory but also the truth. Zero loans, zero debt, zero anything. My brother in law had some money and could have bought a house but had the balls to open a company in a competitive, saturated industry in the worst place possible to open a company and while we aren't 1%ers yet, there's no one who can take away our accomplishment.

Now we're going on our 8th year as an A+ rated business who services companies of all sizes from Fortune 500 companies such as Masterlock and Volvo to independent sales reps who pay out of their own pocket. It takes balls and brains to do what we have done and this kind of leadership and fortitude is something missing from society and specially Far Left wingnuts like Boots who have no skin in the game of life and having been born and raised in Texas, seeing this many people of that mindset was just like the Twilight zone to me.

I dont need condolences, I'm blessed and fortunate. But if you have a moral and just heart and genuine in those feeling, gives those condolences to everyone in this cesspool that cant get by because the politicians here dont give a fuck about them. That's the story of this place on both sides of the fence.

i'm staring at about 170k in student loans, and my wife is in the application process for med school. if the stars align and she gets into UCLA med, the tuition there is manageable enough where we'd be able to cash-flow it. but just about anywhere else and we're looking at more loans.

One-party Republican government is hideously corrupt, in short.

State government costs what it costs. Ask yourself: if there is no income tax, how does the Texas state/local government fund itself?

The difference is in property taxes. Cap on assessment for FL residence is 3% - in TX, it's 10%. But maybe FL makes up for it in homeowner's insurance - higher than TX (unless of course, the house is paid for and you take a chance going without insurance).

One-party Republican government is hideously corrupt, in short.

State government costs what it costs. Ask yourself: if there is no income tax, how does the Texas state/local government fund itself?

(hint: rhymes with mopertee faxes)

Why is it more corrupt than a Blue State exactly?

Didn't say it was.

One party rule in any state, red or blue, tends to fuck things up, unless you get someone like Brown who is a genuine technocrat, a rare occurrence.

Democrats for all their faults, tend to have more evidence-based policies. the Trump party has run science out of town on a rail at this point, and that just is a force multiplier when it comes to the effects of corruption.

Hillary doesn't run any state government.

I am talking about anti-abortion bullpuckey, creationism being taught in schools, "abstinence only" sex education, private prisons, etc, etc.

I agree about private prisons and i am not for abstinence only education. I don't give a fuck about creationism. Why should i? I stay out of abortion votes and the debate in general.

I think the Demcrats are fucking crazy in their own way who are even more dangerous at this moment. Or at least they allow the crazy to lead them.

The right has gone off the deep end long ago, in letting evangelical radicals run the party. "trickle down economics" all sort of anti-science movements, the demonization of education and climate change denial.

Sorry man, the Trump party has become the party of rich white guys, by rich white guys, and for rich white guys. The tax cut that pretty much only benefitted the wealthy made that pretty clear, as does any collective picture of the Republican party leadership. Don't take my word for it, look through GOP policy priorities, and look to see who really benefits.

Answer me this:
Who benefits MOST from the idea that the left has "gone off the deep end"?

"letting evangelical radicals run the party"

the oligarchy runs USA, and has suckered evangelicals into the Repug base with "social issues" of abortion, LGBT, guns
