Oh 10 million...Spurs can't match that. But if I were him, I'd probably jump ship anyway. Why take a chance you may have to play with a "superstar" so fragile he can't take you saying that you had a much worse injury.

:wow . . . bittersweet / mixed emotions. On the one hand, he obviously didn't make sense on this roster, so they'd have either had to force feed him minutes or not play him, neither of which would have been ideal. On the other hand, it still would have been nice to see him play his entire career with the Spurs.

For me it's going to be super weird seeing him play in my backyard. I might decide to meet him just to tell him I appreciated his contributions as a Spur granted I have heard he's a diva. The Hornets make their players pretty accessible before games.

I live a few hours away in Myrtle Beach I might have to drive down for a game or two. I'll say this though, I've never heard that he's super friendly or outgoing towards fans. Although that's just what I've heard through the years, he's one of the guys I've never met personally.

It's kind of strange. Coach Pop is very friendly in person (I'm sure as long as you don't annoy him anyways) and that seems to be the whole culture with the team, it's surprising that one of the big 3 is like that with fans. Most of the players I've met (Sean Elliott, Manu, LMA, Patty) were all friendly albeit short. Borrego seemed like a really cool guy, Pop was outgoing. Never met Duncan but I was training BJJ at Pete Spratt's gym on 1604 one time and he came in and said hi to Pete apparently Duncan's a big MMA fan and friends with Pete Spratt. Sean, David, Elie, Kersey, Kerr, Malik and Duncan were all pussycats and totally open to bs-ing with fans. Danny Ferry is one entitled asshole though, haha. Fuck that guy sideways...

That said, he'll go down as the most underrated PG of his generation, and I'll always remember him the most for OWNING Chris Paul and Steve Nash in the playoffs despite them receiving all the attention, both in those series and throughout their careers.

Tony Parker one of the most underappreciated Spurs. He was great for this organization. Wish him nothing but the best. That injury was unfortunate, but he fought through it and surprisingly made it back and was as good as one wished he might be. Yeah he regressed, but he was always there to play. Nothing but respect for the guy.

His comments regarding Kawhi's injury was not the final nail on the coffin regarding Kawhi not wanting to comeback. Kawhi has issues. Plain and simple.

I'm glad your experience was different than mine, I met him mid career so perhaps he was a little more jaded or maybe it was the surroundings, idk. I've heard that his dad was super nice though I never met him, funny to hear that he has the same moves but it makes perfect sense.

Also, in no way am I dogging his impact on the Spurs or saying that he wasn't a core reason for our success for many years. It's a shame that time caught up with him and slowed his jets but his jersey should hang from the rafters and rightfully so.

Truly sad to see him not retire a Spur but glad that he'll go out being a contributor and not just a mentor.

As an aside, if/when a Leonard trade occurs, this probably makes it more likely Mills is retained. Whether Ginobili postpones retirement or not or Green is traded or not, they're more than likely down to their final season as Spurs and they'll want a veteran mentor for Murray (Fultz?), White and Walker.

If retaining Mills is the difference between getting a quality 3rd asset or not (like the '21 Heat 1st), that's fine. His contract and physical limitations were more so prohibitive for a team with championship aspirations than in general.

I have heard he tends to be friendly towards females. I remember many years ago a Laker fan by the name of misty something who was mainly a Horry fan talking about her interactions with Parker. Met the guy once, wasn't impressed. Took my teenage son to tux and tennies. He walked in 2 minutes before the videostarted. Asked him to pose for a picture with my son. He said he would after. He told every person the same while walking to his seat. With about 5 minutes left in the video he snuck out of the room with his girl.

Disagree completely. Tony (along with Manu and Dirk) were some of my fav players to talk to. Tony was always super friendly to us off the court too. Tony and my husband lived in the same condo building early in Tony's career (when LJ and I were engaged ). That was when I first moved to SA. So we ran into him a lot. At the building, at restaurants, etc. He was always cool.

I became friendly with his dad, and his dad ended up deciding to play on LJs rec basketball team one summer. It's hilarious that his dad has Tony's same moves on the court.

Anyway, I know it's a SpursTalk tradition to trash Tony, but he's a good guy...and he's a Spurs legend. I know he wanted more playing time, and now he'll get it. But it's sad that he's not retiring a Spur.

One of the greatest Spurs ever, Thanks Tony!

Spurs obviously did not want to resign him.

Thank you TP!

Maybe he can come back again before he retires and sign at least a 10 day contract, luke Paul Pierce. At least, he can say he retured a Spur

This sucks for Tony. Damn, the Hornets? Terrible. I love Tony for his pride and ego. He has genuine passion for the game. Really gonna miss Tony.

I'm glad TP is getting paid, I'm glad it's not by the Spurs, but if this move is to keep that mental mute fuck wearing silver&black I'm going to be done with the Spurs.

Spurs wanted Parker back but Charlotte offered tp 10 million for 2 years. Can't blame him at all for taking that

Tony Parker. Beautiful on the inside and outside. May we never forget the 3rd greatest player in franchise history. He’s a hero to us all.

Au revoir, Tony.

i appreciate his prime. he was elite but his quickness fell off and had nothing else to rely on. and he couldn't stop a nosebleed on the defensive end for awhile now.

he did hold his own against other top tiers PGs in his heyday which was impressive. but tbh, i'd take one of them over tony on a team with timmy and manu.

i was for kidd 100% even if had meant tony requesting to be traded. it was cool to seem him grow, wished the spurs had moved on years ago.

the hornets suck but aligning yourself closer to jordan is not an unwise financial decision if you're player. and he'll do better in the east than the west.

glad i won't have to complain about him anymore :tu

Tony Parker's toughness made him a favorite of the Spurs' medical staff

He was incredible to watch. I feel like I grew up with him. I was 13 when he started with the Spurs.

God bless the great William Anthony Parker. He had some selfishness in him and he screwed a good guy over, but this Kawhitter stuff has really made me appreciate what a loyal soldier he was for us. HOTS will be missed. :cry
