View Full Version : Why do people (not just here, BTW) equate the Gasol contract with the Mills contract?

Gasol effectively has one year left while Mills has three. We have a glut of guards and our front line is very thin. Even looking at their skillsets . . . Mills plays no defense but Gasol can at least defend at the rim. Mills shoots the 3 and that's it. Gasol has lost a lot of effectiveness posting up but can now stretch the floor. He remains an elite passer. Seriously? How are these contracts in any way equally bad?

Not sure about that...Gasol is clearly a regular season minutes eater at this point. Sad thing is he's massively overpaid to be that, when perfectly good alternatives are out there for the same role

Pretty much this. But the contracts really are not that bad at this point. Plenty of teams would love to have contracts like Patty's and Pau's be the two worst on the books.

Although I guess it is true that having Mills as our worst contract is probably among the best worst contracts in the league. Maybe with Kawhi/starting SF replacement and a healthy Rudy Gay to take pressure off him he'll return to form.
