What do you know about sound quality?

You probably love a flat response delivered by Grado, Audio Technica or Beyerdynamics.

I've been very vocal about preferring Beats. They are the best performing line of audio products. Sometimes I don't like to mention them because many can't afford the premium quality.
And for someone like you, who assume more money means better sound...there isn't much point.
You probably go to Ruth's Chris because of the price. When you can get the same quality steak at Applebee's for a fraction of the cost.

Threw them out the window before I made it home.

Someone gave me a pair of JBLs for my birthday. The next Christmas, I put them (unopened) in the white elephant pot. The kicker is that I ended up with them after my cousin stole a Cowboys koozie from me on the last turn. I gave up and just threw them in the trash with all the wrapping paper.

Here's a headphone comparison test you can do at home

Cut some paper (needs to be very thin paper like crepe paper) into a small strip about 2" x 1".
Stick a toothpick through one end of the strip.
Pick a few different kinds of music with a range of dynamics (ie: some rap, some rock, some acoustic, etc.)
Hold the toothpick between the earcups while playing 10-15 seconds from each music selection.
While playing the music, look at the outside of the earphones. If you see it's a pair of Beats,
it's a perfect score.
If it's anything else, trash your crappy headphones, quit going out to eat for a month, and buy some Beats.

Beats vs. Bose: Who Wins?

In the end, Bose comes out on top, but barely. Comfort and audio quality are subjective, so Beats may beat Bose for you. Either way, you get a high-quality set of over-ear headphones that can cancel out the majority of outside noise.

It says that you’ve never had a pair of Beats.

And it says that the giftor didn’t put much thought into it.

It’s too late now to say anything but to avoid this uncomfortable situation in the future, tell everyone that you’re having some financial difficulties and would appreciate money instead of gifts. Then you can go get some Beats.

Or ask for a puppy. When you get the puppy, get on social media, post a picture of the puppy, and say that you’re going to kill it unless someone sends you a pair of Beats. Then you’ll have several pairs of Beats AND a puppy. If the puppy doesn’t fit your lifestyle, just take it to the animal shelter.

Simple solution...get a pair of Beats. After a few months, buy an identical pair. Repackage the old pair and return using the new receipt.

If they show obvious wear, make a stink about the store selling you used headphones.
Obviously don’t keep buying from the same store.

And the Walmart people probably won’t even check anyway.

How about the Beats Pill vs. something like this?

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3d/a2/8b/3da28bb557fcf1c1fb9f8cc3d352ed64.jpg

I took my Pill to some high falutin stereo showroom that had a setup like that. They were demo'ing a 100K system to a pair of rich assholes. I walked right up, turned off the system, and linked up the Pill via the best audio connection known to man: bluetooth. It was like the voice of God descended upon the room. The dealers went into panic mode, not wanting to lose their sale, telling the rich assholes the Pill isn't possible of that kind of sound quality, that it must be some sort of trick. Then they called a guard to escort me out. As I brushed myself off outside, the rich assholes approached me and offered 150K cash for the Pill. I said, "No, a camel can pass through a needle before a rich man can enter heaven. I have no need for money." I presented the Pill to them like a Priest offering communion, and said, "Take this, and you shall enter the kingdom of God. May Dre be with you."

A month later, I opened the newspaper and saw the local children's charity received a 10 million dollar donation, with a picture of the rich assholes below the headline. Turns out they donated their entire fortune. Asked why, they said, "When you have Beats, you don't need anything else."

Hello. I need advise on the subject

All 3 of these models have a detachable cable & come with default or adapter 3.5mm

My main requirement is durability. In terms of sound I am a novice and some of my personal use music is lackluster quakity. Also and this is big: I want to avoid the need of an amp. Which I believe is impossible with option #3

A) closed back - safe bet
https://i.ibb.co/P48xrhG/Screenshot-2019-11-27-11-07-44-1.png

B) open back
https://i.ibb.co/FhY3TMX/Screenshot-2019-11-27-11-08-39-1.png

C) would likely require amp
https://i.ibb.co/8Yc85LR/Screenshot-2019-11-27-11-09-00-1.png

Question: is the open back really only for home & quiet space use? That will satisfy the majority of my use but would like to occasionally use in car or in work break room. Is open back more revealing sound in & out than for example ear in headphones?

Amp is not required for this model. Did you notice performance improvement? Or with specific players such as laptop vs smartphone

Do you still use them 1 year later

Amp is absolutely required. It sounds like shit otherwise. My phone can't push these headphones.

These go loud as hell and not having an amp will not allow you to use them to their potential. I use them almost daily, other than the pleather tearing off they still work like new.

I settled on these as a starter after recommendation from friend in the auto industry

Behringer has made a living basically ripping off successful products, and adding their logo to it. The reason why they stick around doing it this way is because the product isn't half bad.. but 20 bucks on some DJ style headphones is pretty sketchy

I guess you have no choice but doesn't it brvike tiresome to carry 3 items around - headphones, mobile phone and amp

What if no amp but only listen in mid volume level. Don't blast it. How much did your amp cost anyway

You could definitely use the headphones for on the go if you are cool with moderate listening levels and wearing huge over the ear headphones while you're out and about.. This type of headphone on the go is not practical for me

Certain devices are louder than others, for example my iPod pushes volumes much higher than my LG g8 does, so that's something to consider.

My amps are actually audio interfaces (sound cards).. One on my Traktor Kontrol S4, the other my M-Track 2x2. Neither is for on the go of course.

You also use an Ipod! Ha we are a dying breed.

Oh okay so serious audio work. I still use an older model iPod and am concerned how it will all sound. I'll write a review once they arrive - Dec 6th

I fucking hate Apple, and the iPod doesn't get used.. but it's still MUCH louder than the audio my phone puts out. If you're using an iPod you should be able to push those headphones nicely, I've never used an iPhone so I don't know how they are with audio files but I'd assume it's the same tech

I actually have never owned an iPhone but still use IPod to gym and love my MacBook Pro

Thank you for the advice. I shall ask you more as it comes to me.

Get yourself some Audio Technica ATH-M50x. Best bang for th buck, IMO.

I've had mine for six years and other than the ear pads being torn up, they still sound new. I purchased a Bluetooth adapter and use them at the gym and they've held up despite being in the sauna and steam room. :lol

No headphones. Bose speakers, and my car radio are good enough. i don't walk around listening to music in public like a dipshit.
