He is worth it. Edit looks like it’s 5 years/80 mill with 10 mil in incentives :)

More like :lmao at Capela. He could've definitely gotten more. Not sure why he took such a big discount and how Morey got him to.

Because the only team with enough capspace to sign him is Sacramento and that's a lot of risk to take a qualifying offer for a couple of million when you can just get your first big payday right now. Houston didn't bid against themselves and got him signed to a pretty friendly deal for what he provides.

If they did a deal with Bird 8% raises they'll be paying him $15.5 million next season, assuming all $90 million is guaranteed. That is a fucking bargain for a 24 year old who is that good a fit with CP3. Or if they did it just a straight up $18 million a year that deal is going to look great into the future, assuming he doesn't get a horrific injury or something. That's a bargain to get a guy like that for Pau Gasol money.

Capela is awesome and one of my favorite non-Spurs. He's the perfect modern center. Easily worth it and then some.

It's a risk, yes, but he could've easily gotten $50mil+ next season and chosen where he wanted to go. He let Morey bend him over a barrel. Luckily he's still young enough to get another payday in 4 years time.

1. Yes he is a good fit

2. Rockets are active in trade talks to move Anderson

3. Melo is coming for 1 year at the minimum. If it doesn't work they can just send his ass home

He needs to fire his agent tbh. Shoulda signed QO and become an UFA. Would have gotten paid big time.

Nothing wrong with taking the money now. The 100 million dollar market just wasn't there for him this year, could have gotten hurt and ended up like I.Thomas

This, of course, ignores that Morey let Ariza and Luc walk in order to bring in washed-up no-defense Melo. And Melo is already refusing to come off the bench. Have fun with that!

This.
I like him but at max I would not.
I agree he was bent over a bit but if they overpay him in a couple years he would be sent to a shit hole like Charlotte because he is no where close to worth that.
Sure he is a great value compared to Pau... But that is because that was a shitty deal. I would have been with up to 20 but 18 is better for building a great team.
From a player trying to make the most not a great deal but if he likes Houston better chance he can stay there.

This too... Plus with African players you never know if their age is accurate and if the early cliff is near like Ibaka.

Ariza getting up in age is not worth 15 mill a season. Though he still provides defense, not much on offense. Luc's shoulder is still broke and he has not had surgery. He was ineffective after his injury. Melo is coming for 2.4 mill. Sorry. That has a higher upside than down at the price.

Yeah going from a max player to a minimum player. Ouch, I would have taken the guaranteed money too if I was Capella. I think both sides are pretty happy with this deal.
