The original Coyote (Tim Derk) was impressive as hell. Back in the Hemisfair Arena days he used to rappel down from the roof and literally dance on ceiling while the Lionel Ritchie song played. Too bad there isn't any video of it. I can't imagine doing that upside down in that huge costume, but it seemed like he did it every home game for a few years in the mid to late 80s.

If you are a season ticket holder good for you for supporting your team. I'm pretty sure 'the Coyote' is at the top of the echelon in terms of mascots. I'm sure the current Coyote will need time to get up to his predecessors level. After baseline bum's post about the original Coyote that sounds like a tough act to follow for all of them.

Over all I am a fan of the Coyote and think it's in good fun. It's a tough job and I don't envy the dude. The music is often on the lame side of things, but it's par for the course really. I don't listen to Neil Diamond and Jon Bon Jovi when I have a choice. It just doesn't spoil the experience for me. If it does so for you, save yourself a few thousand dollars and watch on TV. :lol Keep enjoying the team and may the new year not bring you down!
