Who do you think will get their number retired after TP and Manu? LaMarcus Aldridge? Kawhi Leonard? Demar DeRosan? Dejounte Murray? Matt Bonner? It could be awhile...

I think it will be a while before a number is retired. Pop will get some kind of honor once he is done.

I would easily take the field over LDN. I doubt he is coming back again as a player. I’d still rank him below Bowen/Elliott.

Someone not currently on this team. Maybe of DeRozan plays out two full contracts here it's possible. But I'm guessing it'll be a long while.

Jersey retirements should only be for the elite of the elite imo. That’s why I don’t like guys like Avery and Johnny Moore up there. Should be reserved for the HoFers like the Duncan, Robinson, Gervin, Manu, & Parker tbh.

Would be absolute bullshit if it is LMA. Although with Avery Johnson having his jersey retired anything is possible.

He was at his best wearing 4. I always felt that adding the 1 to his jersey threw him ever so slightly off balance, and ruined his shot.

Spurs won't do it. If he's in Toronto only a year, they won't do it. If he goes to Lakers, he'll be in Lebron shadow so much and plus they only retire HoF numbers so they won't do it. Wow, I don't think any team will do it :rollin

No one. Kawhi had an impact on the Spurs, but at the same time, he wasn't here long enough to qualify IMO. Until someone new comes in and takes the team by the horns, I would say no one on the roster.

LMA will get a ring or two with DDR and the young core, so LMA, DDR, Murray, Walker

Nobody, also I find funny how some posters feel that DG should get his jersey retired, what a scrub.

Definitely LMA after signing that big extension. He will be a franchise player for the next 2-4 years and be an important cog to the transition to the younger guys.

I would say Dejonte if this season he could improve to either 9 PPG, 3 APG, or shoot 45% from the field.

Why is he called LDN though lol. I know what it sands for but why him?. I wouldn't be surprised if they retired Danny's number. The 2013 postseason was killer. If they did it with Bowen (meh they un-retired it, but still), why not Danny?

I tend to agree with you. However, since guys like Avery and Moore and Bowen are already up there, my sense of fairness would be offended by raising the bar for a guy like Danny, who I believe is every bit as deserving as those guys. Basically, the Spurs set a few bad precedents.

Clearly Aldridge. Guy seems to have fitted perfectly on what the culture of the team and City means.
No matter if we win a championship or not, if he retires a spur he'll get his jersey retired.

I understand this thinking. But it’s a team hof, any team can decide who of their past players they want to honor. I don’t agree with some they have already done. But respect the decision. I really wouldn’t do a current player, Danny or that Canadian with an uncle.

Number 2 aside, LMA's adjustment to the Spurs hasn't been all that smooth. I don't think the odds are that great that he will win a chip in SA. Consequently his stats, tenure and the fans' affection will be determinative. But tenure alone won't get his jersey retired. He lacks the appeal to ever be a real fan favorite, so he needs to pile up some massive stats for his Spurs career.

You never know, GS could very well dominate the next two years and even longer. Your are looking at a very young team that could win 5 or 6 NBA titles.
If that happens, a team that fights them hard, even losing, could be a "historic" team also, if that team is the Spurs with lma, it nails it.
Also the team could evolve next year, or luck could come our way. You never know.
I know LMA had it very difficult to be a fan favorite. But he endured something that if he stays a Spurs, will be remembered, and that is carrying a team when you're Superstar player was trying everything to sink it.

Yes, at the moment, that's the currency he is banking. When all is said and done, however, that was only one season. I'm not sure how long he can draw on that account especially if all of the good fortune you mention doesn't come to pass. In the absence of a chip/chips, LMA would have to perform at last year's levels for quite a few years. I doubt he can.

If LMA plays well the rest of his contract and he retires with the Spurs...I think they’ll retire his number. Be strange to have the same number retired twice. LMA picked the Spurs in free agency and re-signed (although we all know it was about the money) with the Spurs. I still can’t see them retiring Danny Green’s number. I think Patty has a better chance than him.

As silly as that sounds I would not be surprised or upset if either he or Green had that happen. Fact is they have both been fantastic Spurs.

if Manu doesn’t come back Patty is last man standing from the champion team

I think #12 will be the next number retired. I believe Bruce will be re-honored and LMA will get a co-retirement celebration with it. Depending on weather or not LMA gets a chip here before it happens makes it a big difference in how the flavor of the celebration goes but it's happening. You don't really unhang a jersey, understood why but didn't like it. I was personally a little surprised that Bruce Bowen got hung up there, because of his being kinda one sided of the court, but as a teammate and community member + a big part of three rings I got it. It also was a nice nod from the Spurs to the workingman's ethos.

People having the audacity to put this guy in the same breath as Duncan, Manu, Tony. Hell, even Bruce earned it more than him. A career loser who hasn't brought a championship here and demanded a trade. Even Nephew with all his bullshit still would earn a jersey retirement more than L-MA touches.
