Thanks for the new changes. My only problem is part of "known issues" list. I can't edit posts. When I posted something and click on Edit to fix/change it, there are an option to delete and other to edit. But if I want to edit, the text of the post doesn't show.

EDIT: I can do it now!! :)

Lurking can be done with an account just fine. Although it'll probably slow this sites growth not to allow account less browsing, this site already had closed reg for years. There's literally no way it won't be an improvement.

Hiding sigs was what encouraged me to register . Sigs were bad ten years ago, I think it's better now, but i would not know cause i don't see them.

You can be logged in, but have your settings on invisible, so that you can still lurk.

Control Panel > General Settings > Invisible Mode on

No issues on phone. But when I try logging in on laptop, I submit my username/password, get a thanks for logging in FkLA pop-up, but it never actually logs me in. Just takes me back to the previous screen.

It's a chromebook using Chrome, FWIW.

Same happened to me on Opera and Chrome after switching networks. It kept showing me as not logged in on the home page but when I clicked on a thread I was able to go to it and I was actually logged in.

I feel you should still be able to view the forum when not logged in. It helps forum noobs to lurk for a while before you join, getting to know the place and the people so you don't get caught up arguing with the forum trolls and whatnot.

Also I never liked being coerced into things... makes me feel manipulated!

It's a move done for a multitude of reasons, one of which being security of the forum due to vulnerabilities in vBulletin. It's nonoptimal but it has to be this way from now on. The other option was shutting down SpursTalk, tbh.

They were the words that 1st popped in my head that seemed edgy lol. What i meant though was that I don't like being persuaded to join something i know nothing about and i know many people may feel the same. Ultimately it doesn't matter to me that much since i already went through the lurking process.:reading

Still working on this issue. I don't think it'll be solved before we upgrade to the latest version of vBulletin. ETA hopefully less than a week. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Sometimes it's nice to scroll more easily past some of the more prolific garbage posters but occasionally they quote you and you want to respond.

Probably already reported, but I'll pile on. When I try to 'Reply with Quote' in any forums now, it just hangs. If I hit the multiquote + symbol, it goes to advanced and I get a message that says I already have posts quoted that are not from that thread (????)

i get that sentiment. i can always just choose to scroll past posts i dont want to read, but the ignore feature clears a lot of clutter out of threads (boutons posts in the political forum being a prime example). but sometimes wouldnt mind viewing in isolated post

Update: Upgrade on test server went smoothly. Every major issues fixed on the test server, including all editing issues and problems viewing posts from ignored users.

Next step is to take the forum down for a few hours so that the changes can be implemented. Tentative plan is for downtime at 9pm CST. We'll update ASAP when time is set.
