We're about to finish the longest offseason period of our lives. It's amazing how many things have happened from the end of the past season until today. The 2017-2018 was really, really long. The team and fans had to deal with the horrible Leonard drama and the media attention, attacking the entire organization. But there were more problems: all kind of injuries and personal issues; young players not maturing yet; veterans being too old; the ups and downs of any regular season; breaking some historically positive records; the stressful final month when the team struggled on the standings; the crazy last week of RS, fighting for a decent seeding, facing the Warriors in the first round, the goodbye of Mss Popovich... and we hadn't even started the postseason!!

In June, if we have had to choose a word to describe the state of the franchise, that word would have been "uncertainty". Too many questions didn't have an answer so all of us continued engaged to any Spurs rumor, news, tweet, etc. that gave us any information. The emotionally exhausting Kawhi-drama remained on the top of the Spurs news list. The draft rolled around, bringing us a talented young guard with a cool hairstyle and the classic unknown Spurs second rounder. And more Kwahi-drama. Then it came the Summer Leagues and the hope brought by our young players. And some more Kawhi drama, of course. Kyle Anderson and some other free agents started leaving San Antonio. And finally, we got a trade: Leonard was gone! Danny Green was gone. DeMar DeRozan is a Spur! and this big Austrian guy too. Did we make a good trade? How's our team going to play? How fits DeRozan in our team? Hey, Spurs are signing some free agents. Rudy is staying. Marco is back! And Bertans. Oh, Forbes is back. Look at DeRozan with Pop, let's have a look at his stats and progression... actually, he could be really good for the silver and black. Looks like DeJounte is working hard on his shot. Stupid youtube videos. Walker and White definitely look good. Humm we may have a very good team again. Wow! Parker is not a Spur anymore! this is too much for a single offseason. Please, uno más Manu, uno más.... NO! The big three is gone! I can't believe it. Ok, calm down, this is a new era, we've got to turn the page and keep going. Cunningham, Pondexter... some veterans, I see you Pop. Let's put ourselves together: we've got young talent, two Allstars, some good role players, PATFO and the sense the entire team has a chip on their shoulders. This season isn't looking that bad... but the West looks really tough again. Training camp is here! Look at DeJounte, look at Rudy, this is promising. Okay, we've got ourselves a team, nice roster. We can have a good season again. Classic underdog Spurs season, I like it. Who will be in the starting five? Are we playing big again? Small-ball? Too much mid-distance game and not enough defense? Shit, Lonny Walker is injured for the first two months. Well, he was heading Austin anyway so not a big deal. OMG Murray injured his knee... torn ACL!! F**K! Goodbye to the Spurs season. Wait a minute, D White can play the PG! See? The boy can do it, we're fine. WTF! Heel injury? Our best three projects injured? And who's gonna play the starting PG? Forbes? Why the bench-warmers never get major injuries? F**K! What the hell is going on with Huestis? Are we trading or signing any real PG?? Game 1 is finally here! Maaaaaaaaaaaan what a f*****g long offseason!!

Coach Mac, this is funny, but what a take on the Spurs off season drama, but I enjoyed it! With the 2018-19 season underway on Wednesday night, there are still some unanswered questions going into this season as far as the injuries is concerned (I'm expecting to see the EMS truck to haul off more injury casulties as the season progresses with some of the players, but that's the nature of the game.). There's a matter of chemistry as well as Pop getting this team to play defense, which of coarse, has been the Spurs' staple for 20 plus years. Also, there's the matter of this team maintaing their winning & playoff record as well. Yup, there has been a lot of drama, something the SAS organization & its fans are not used to, but hopfully for this team, it will give them that chip on their shoulders that will cause them to prove the naysayers wrong & compete in the ever improving league. Time & circumstances will tell, but YEAH BABY, SPURS BASKETBALL IS BACK!!! Thanks for your post & perspective Coach! GSG!!!

I'll withhold judgment on our win total until I see how this group gels, and if the rest of the team can stay healthy. Murray was a big piece, but somehow we won 47 games last year without Kawhi. I'm not willing to pull a sheet over the season because Murray went down.

I understand where you are coming from and we are looking much better offensively than last year. But without Murray we have no perimeter defense ... none. Last year we had Murray, Green and Kyle (yes, the metrics say he was solid on defense) while LMA was more than good in the middle ... now LMA is the only good defender in our SL ... Guards and small forwards will light the Spurs up like the Hawks did in the preseason tbh

I was actually kinda looking forward to this season before everyone got hurt. Just not sure how much Brynn Forbes I can handle.

I didn't watch preseason games but I assume he's still mostly just running around like someone who tripled their adderall intake?

Good article to read if your feeling down on the Spurs. I still think the Spurs are a wild card they could be great or they could be horrible.

As I said, this will go either really well or go horribly. I don't think there's much middle ground for this team.
