It's annoying to pretend like Murray was the only guy holding up the D last year. They had a lot of good defensive guys and lost all of them except Aldridge. They replaced those guys with relative sieves. That wasn't inevitable. This roster is the product of choices PATFO made. We'll just have to see how well it works out. I'm still hopeful, but to act like Murray could have fixed all of this is foolish. Not even prime Kawhi would make this defense anything more than mediocre.

Spurs have looked really bad defensively at times, but Portland was on fire in that 2nd and 3rd. They've come back down to earth a bit and now the Spurs are chipping away. The lead was 20.

Of course, when you have bad D, it makes it easier for players to get on fire so that probably played into it. Still, as some pointed out earlier, Portland is a damn good team and we're on the road so this is likely a game this Spurs team loses most of the time.
