News travels fast, but fake news travels even faster, especially when there’s a political agenda attached to it. One glaring example took place over the weekend, when someone on Twitter TWTR, +0.57% posted a photograph of an injured police officer, with a caption that he’d been “brutalized” by the migrant caravan on its way to the United States.

The problem, according to a deep dive from Snopes: It’s not true. The main image, which was taken during a clash in Mexico City in 2012, is just another attempt to demonize the refugees and spread fears over immigration.

Nevertheless, those who wanted to believe it, did. That apparently includes Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. This post can be found on her official Facebook FB, -2.63% page:
