Mid november/early december if everything is ok. Both were injured before the season starts and have an 8 weeks ( Max) recovery.

And there were reports that White likely wouldn't require the full recovery period. I'm hoping to hear he's ready to start practicing again soon which should be his warm up to return.

Wrong injuried spur
Anyways after the 4-6 week estimate was made for white, the next day pop said more like 2-4 weeks. Tomorrow makes it 3 weeks

I think white will get plugged in quick but walker will probably get little to no minutes

Walker no minutes? There's not exactly heavy competition for minutes off the bench. This isn't a typically-loaded Spurs squad.

I still don't get why people here keep saying Lonnie should go to Austin. Fuck Austin, the Spurs need Lonnie on the court in the NBA. They don't really have any good players ahead of him, so might as well just get Lonnie into the NBA as soon as possible to speed up his learning curve. Plus, he's likely to be a better defender than most of the players on the team, and that is something that the Spurs really, really need. He has way more defensive potential than most of the players on the team already. Why would they waste time making him spend time in Austin? If you want to send him there for a short rehab, OK, but other than that, there is no need for him to spend extended time in Austin at all in my opinion. This isn't the typically loaded Spurs team of the Big 3 + Kawhi & DG + Experienced vet squads of years past.

We need their athletic young legs. Beli and Mills are in their 30's..

Because of pop, he rarely plays young guys. Offcourse i want To see Walker Playing but i will be surprise if that happens a lot this year.

It wouldn't be fair to Pondexter and those guys, to play a rookie over them. They were in the league since the late 2000s. Walker is in the league for 1 month :pop:

I'm with you. This team has no bench depth to speak of, especially guys with length who could D up the opposing 2s and 3s out there on the perimeter. If Walker shows even glimpses of what I believe he is capable of I think the coaching staff is going to give him some run. Plus, Pop is high on him...I get some of that early Manu love for Walker from Pop, where Walker will get a little bit longer leash than some guys might.

The Spurs do not have the luxury for him to start seeing major minutes in his third year.

Interesting! Paul Garcia did tweet that Derrick White is Probable for tomorrow’s game, Gay and walker are out.

If not tomorrow, I was thinking Saturday. Gay being out sucks, but I can understand wanting to sneak a week of rest in with it only costing a game. Still needed to fill that two-way spot with a forward so they'd have some semblance of depth there.

Yeah, I think Gay being out for a week to rest his heel was circled on the calendar. Probably figured the Magic game was a gimme. Sadly nothing is a gimme with our shallow bench. It sucks that's bothering him with as much as he prepared for the season, and as healthy as he looked this summer.

Yes more than anything I hope it's not something that will stand in the way of the season we were all, especially him, hoping for.

Well, LWIV is pretty much my only hope for the season right now. The Spurs don't currently look like a playoff team. Hopefully Derrick stays healthy and gets better after playing a few games.

Yep. People forget that Walker is also a midget who can't shoot the three. Not saying he won't eventually be good, but he isn't saving this shit roster anytime soon.

lol at those who thought White was anything but a G-leaguer. A point guard who shits his pants every time he dribbles. I can't believe Forbes is actually better than G-leaguer White. Fathead v2 has arrived, and he's worse than fathead v1. Holy shit.

Yet he looked good during the summer. The Fathead Jr. nickname he immediately got when he was drafted is more apt than I thought.
Summer League star.

Really?! His first night back after being out nearly three weeks, he plays poorly (to be expected with conditioning and rust issues) and fans want to write him off?
Y'all are the most fickle, shortsighted people I've ever seen openly root against it's own team's players (and coach) in a second.

White improves the defense a lot tbh. He just needs time to build chemistry with the starters.

Today's game was really physical (well done by the Heat as it was their only chance of getting the W without Dragic, Wade, Waiters) and it didn't help Derrick's return to competition. You can't blame the kid for not being effective on his first game of the season after a month out being injured.
White has shown more passing ability today than any other player this season. Nobody else apart from DeRozan and Gasol can create off the pass.
Patience is not a cool concept nowadays but it's quite important with young and/or injured players.

Agree on everything. The energy level was obviously on Heat's favor...we just were short in effort except for Mills. All 50/50 balls were for them.

“We didn’t die, but we sure got outplayed,” Popovich said. “I thought we were soft, undisciplined, lacking grunt factor. I thought the Heat were much more physical and committed.”
Same story vs Orlando Magic. Time for coaches to put some pressure on players and for leaders to step up and play HARD. The team can't allow another weak start from Aldridge and DeRozan. Also, Cunningham must play hard every second he's on the court, otherwise his not helping but hurting our chances to win.
