Solid decision, and the only decision to go for it on that 4th down and pick up the touchdown. I don't care if it's the opening drive or not, you don't waste all that on 3 shitty points unless it's 4th and more than a couple.

Jason Garrett would have kicked the field goal.

FGs don't cut it against an offense like Big Ben/Antonio Brown.

Wow, one play drive for the Steelers. Juju isn't the quickest, but he has some of the very best deep speed you'll find in the league east of Tyreek Hill.

But the real story is Big Ben. I don't see how you don't put him ahead of Rodgers right now in the rankings (not all-time, just right now). Rodgers is still the most talented QB but he's playing injured lately and he looks a little broken right now. Big Ben is lowkey among the very elites this year.

That's a horrid challenge by Rivera. Yes, it's obvious he's going to win it, but why waste a challenge on 2nd & Inches that could really come back to haunt you if you lose the 2nd challenge? DUMBASS.

2nd and Inches is BETTER than 1st down in most cases in football because you have 2 throwaway plays and can easily pick it up on 4th if necessary.

False start/hold is just as bad on 1st down... 1st and 20 is hard to come back from if your offense relies on the ability to run the ball... we've seen it with Dallas, I saw a stat on the MNF game that they've had to punt (or kick the FG) on 36 straight 1st and 20s, all with Dak Prescott at the helm.

They have to beat New Cheatland at home in December to get that kind of credit tbh. They blew it last year, bad call or not.

In order to be a contender, get the playoff bye, earn redemption, and give themselves any confidence at all going into the postseason... they MUST, must, MUST, win that game.

Panthers 1-6 on TNF since 2006.

This was as easy a pick as it gets.

But..........these TNF are ridiculous. No thought at all that both the Steelers/Panthers have a huge advantage next week because of the added time to prepare.

Most of us don't have enough "fuck you" money to be able to quit work for a year. If Bell truly believes that what he did is in his best financial interest, then it's hard to fault him for turning down an contract that would have left him exposed had he gotten an injury.

That being said, it seems like he overvalued himself and Conner's success had kind proved that. Bell took a risk and right now, it looks like he miscalculated.

Now he's in a bad spot. Other NFL teams are surely looking at this and thinking "Bell is good, but how much was Bell and how much was the system he was in".

And now, for his gamble to pay off, he has to come in and be better than Conner. And probably not just a little better.

And if he is better and the Steelers decide to make him the #1, he's got about a half a season to try to do well and hope he doesn't get injured.

Bell took a big ass gamble. As soon as it was clear that Conner could produce Bell like numbers, it gave the Steelers the upper hand.
Even though they probably hoped and do hope that Bell will return. They're surely better with Bell/Conner than with just Conner. It's huge if they have both.
Gives them two legit #1RB and gives them protection against an injury.

Sure the Steelers could win without Conner. But that's assuming he's healthy for the rest of the season. So far, it seems like the Steelers have played this 100% right and Bell has played it 100% wrong.
The next correct move for the Steelers would be to welcome Bell back. Bell's best move (if he's trying to preserve his career and future contracts) would probably be to just sit out. But my guess is that he wants a chance for a ring and may
be willing to risk injury or playing poorly to get one.

There's no doubt. There might be 10-12 RB that could produce these numbers. Maybe more. Bell is surely talented. But likely not more talented by the differential between him and the next guys as his desired salary implied.

they tend to get up for good teams, especially at home. beat Green Bay at home a couple years ago, made Rodgers look average and their defense look horrid. They beat Philly this year in an OT thriller. They've already beaten Houston at home.

But I fully expect NE to win today, just like the @ Jets game last year when they were down 0-14, belichick will make the necessary adjustments on defense

still, the pats always have that token game where they go down 14-0 or 14-3 early on the road, every year, and come back to win reasonably comfortably.

Although I will admit... Vrabel is a young Belichick prototype and knows him very well, so if the Pats are in a dogfight or lose today, it's because Vrabel, Dion Lewis, Butler, and Ryan all know the Patriots very well. They're like the Patriots south.

we're used to it, it's just the nature of the game when every year you have an atrocious defense and a nuclear offense..

True. I love stuffed flounder, fried haddock, clam and cod chowder, steamed lobster, and sea scallops. Then again, I also love New Orleans style seafood... so tough to decide. Just like with Brady/Brees, tough to decide.

yeah. if you assume the top 4 are going to be LA, Saints, Bears, and Eagles. Panthers likely 5th seed per par. The last wild card spot could be MIN, WAS, GB, or SEA... I don't think Atlanta is in the mix anymore after today, they lost to the laughingstock of the sports world (if the Falcons weren't the laughingstock of the sports world already). Same for Detroit.

GB vs SEA this coming Thursday will likely knock one more out of the hunt... Seahawks now have 5 losses and the Packers have 4 losses and a tie which is basically a loss.

AFC is shockingly good this year. 7 teams competing for 6 slots legit... Chargers and Titans look damn good and they probably won't even win their divisions. It's a damn shame none of those newfound juggernauts are in the AFC East.

But there is a realistic scenario where the Patriots fall to the 4-seed, if they lose to Pittsburgh in December and if the Titans win their division... the Pats will have lost all the tiebreakers except with KC which won't matter.

Most likely scenario for New England still remains the 2- or 3- seed, however.

OBJ has dropsy issues but he's one of the most determined route runners there is, also a heck of a R.A.C. receiver

his numbers throughout his career

Is he terrible....obviously not. I'm not saying that.

Some people list him as the #3 WR in the game. I find that part laughable.

I know that. Hell everybody knows that. I've already factored that part into my decision making process. Still I come to the conclusion that hes nowhere near Antonio brown or Julio Jones. Dude drops too many damn balls to be considered "elite".

It also doesn't surprise me that hes having his best game of the year against the terrible niners. Btw...why isn't Sherman on him?

On OBJ...I may be wrong. I'm so goddamn frustrated right now with Patty Mills that he might be blurring my judgement on all things sports related. Give me 2-3 days to recover from his 5 point performance against the mighty Sacramento Kings....see if I still feel the same way then.

Niners back on track for the #1 pick tbh.

I don't really understand how people rank WRs by anything other than tiers..

What separates Brown, Odell, Hopkins, Green, etc? They're all elite, their numbers are heavily influenced by QB and scheme..all the same to me IMO..
