Butler to Sixers for Covington, Saric, and I assume a pick.

:lol at both teams

Sixers are morons for trading away their best shooter in exchange for what is probably a rental and a locker room cancer. Wolves are morons for not being all over that Houston offer earlier consisting four picks. W/W in my book.

76ers went from having role players like Bellinelli, Illyasova, Covington, and Saric to having no depth at all. Fultz isn't even a sixth man lol. Trust the Process is done.

Good deal for both teams IMO..

Thibs is coaching for his job, so they need to make the playoffs this season..

Philly loses 2 decent players for a 2-way star..their current roster sucks, they still aren't a contender due to their shooting issues, but they had to take a shot with Toronto/Milwaukee becoming elite teams..

Simmons' laziness to work on shooting will drive him to become another lockerroom cancer tbh

The bolded part is a great point, and something I didn't initially consider. As an objective third party observer, I think the Houston deal is much better, but the deals are ultimately made by people who are only concerned with the next two years.

Disagree. I'm glad they didn't send him to Houston. Good deal Coach Thibs! :lol

If Butler extends then it’s a good deal for the 76ers imo (its obviously shitty for them if he doesn’t). They should try and trade Simmons while he has value.

The 76ers fucked up by trading Bridges on draft day. He’s already a 40% 3 point shooter as a rookie and he’s the one player on the Suns who plays defense.

The Sixers are so thin in the front court. I wonder what the plan is-- start Mike Muscala at PF? Or start Butler and Wilson Chandler together?

So how long before Butler yells at Simmons “Shoot a 3 you coward!”

Šarić was Sixers second best player in last years playoffs and Covington was an amazing shooter so far this season. Replacing those two with the cancer that is Butler is gonna be fun.

The Sixers gave up way too much. Hope Silver's satisfied with ruining that franchise by firing Hinkie. Can't have any young stacked teams coming up that might be a threat to his Warriors' chances in the future, after all.

I agree but if the report I saw is correct they kept their first round picks. Except one they gave Celts, lol

Good trade for the Sixers. Traded a few roleplayers and didn't have to give up a 1st round pick. Not bad.

Simmons is the pf anyway.

Chris Fall
11-10-2018, 05:48 PM
The criticism that it’s a big hit to frontcourt depth is overstated. Amir Johnson and Muscala offer offense-defense options at both PF and C. Both Simmons and Chandler can play multiple positions, including either forward spot. And it may very well open up some playing opportunity for Jonah Bolden, who might end up being a decent back-up. They also got Justin Patton from Minnesota. They have options.

I doubt this trade makes the Sixers any better, tbh.

Saric and Covington were great role players and glue guys. Butler is a horrible fit alongside Simmons and Fultz. If I were the Sixers I would have given away Fultz (if Minny wanted it).

Spurs da champs
11-10-2018, 06:18 PM
Sixers made the right move. They gotta deal Fultz next, PHX might be interested. Fultz is likely a bust, but he will never fit with Simmons anyway.

Phenomenal short term move by the sixers. Would not give Butler $190 million though with the huge amount of minutes hes played

Why are people that impressed by Butler? Where has he ever won games? He's been good, don't get me wrong, but to call him a superstar is just confusing to me.

Hes not a “superstar” but he is a 2 way allstar that will be a game changer next to Embiid

Thibs is the only coach that Butler has ever liked:lol

He's also the only coach that gets production out of Derrick Rose..it's strange, he's such a flawed coach, but vets love him and don't seem to care about the heavy minutes..

They love to get all those minutes and the stats that come with it. Aldridge would love Thibs as well, tbh.

Man was I wrong about this trade. Thought they could win the East this year and have a chance if GS is worn out by all their playoff games last 5 years or has an injury. Didnt like $190 million for him at all with all career minutes. They should just try to trade him for a pick or something now tbh

Doubt it, Aldridge was played heavy by Stotts and always had nothing left in the 4th. Thibbs would kill him.

It’s all about having heavy emphasis on one single player (star). The star will get all the touches, stats and accolades that come with it.

Both Embiid and Butler have been a little more vocal with complaints than I'm sure the front office would like. I have to wonder if the locker room isn't already becoming toxic. Jimmy may just be one of those guys who doesn't mix/play well with others....
