This is what happens when you keep signing players that remember when Run DMC were top selling rappers. I’m older than Gasol, but I ain’t making $48 million to be a tree on the court.

That's ... that's not good. Say what you will about Gasol but he's had his moments and he's been better than Poeltl.
Let's hope Poeltl will be able to shake off the ankle injury because Metu is not ready at all. The Spurs might have to give Eubanks a shot if Metu continues to look completely lost.

Sucks losing Gasol but this might help develop Poetle a little quicker. So when Gasol comes back, we have 2 serviceable big men.

Jakob only playing 8 minutes last game tho. Lamarcus getting overplayed to the tune of 40 minutes per game ain't going to be a long term answer.

It’s as good a guess as any. Without knowing anything I definitely thought old age related injuries. Nothing that has a magic cure. Either it calms down with that walking boot and him resting his foot or retirement is near.

Damn, a foot stress fracture for an old big man is bad news. That's ended a lot of big's careers (Bill Walton and Yao Ming the two most prominent).
Marc Gasol had a stress fracture in his foot in early February of 2016 and missed the rest of the season.
I'd say that Pau is going to have to sit out at least two months. That'd make his earliest possible return sometime in January.
Chance it's career-ending, though, depending on the exact location of the stress fracture.

If it really is a long-term injury, it's hard to tell if the Spurs will semi-tank by just standing pat or become buyers at the trade deadline, using Pau's mostly-expiring contract as incentive to take on a longer contract. Pau has played well, but with enough of an upgrade at SF they can afford to lose him if Aldridge plays almost full-time at the 5 and Poeltl can be a serviceable backup.

Forgot that Pau actually suffered a stress fracture in his left foot back in 2006. He missed four months. He needed surgery for that injury so it's not directly comparable.

Sheesh. Thanks for that info. Hopefully he can get back this season but I guess we'll see. I didn't realize he had that injury already.
I also thought it was funny it said the Spurs stopped it when he was out the boot and working out. Just showing still how cautious they are with injuries and not wanting to rush the process. Unlike what some have said....

Of course he would've had bad nights. He was also playing a smaller role than last season, so maybe that helped. It's a different situation, who knows how it turns out.
Fortunately Poeltl is playing well, they just bring different things to the table

It’s all hypothetical anyway but you also assume Pop wouldn’t have given him more minutes with the way Poeltl was playing to start the season. Seems like the one who benefitted with Gasol out was Turtle.

Every Spurs player should be requesting the use of a personal doctor in lieu of the incompetent team docs. Those hacks are just as clueless as Pop, Buford, and the ass kissers on the coaching staff. Once upon a time, this team was great from top to bottom. They're now a shadow of what they once were due to talent drain(Duncan, Manu, Parker, Kawhi, Danny) and brain drain(Bud, Forcier, Brett, Marks).

That would be nice. That's really the best fit for Gasol at this point. Even with Gasol and LMA out there together in limited minutes and some of the potential disadvantages with that lineup defensively, it's still better than having Cunningham on the floor. Poetl is developing nicely into his role with the second unit. I don't want Pop to mess that up. Let Gasol have spot minutes with both units.
