With all the trash music coming out now, I've sort of been looking to explore albums that I maybe missed on either partially or fully the first time around. For instance, Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam albums etc. are no big secret; but maybe the 'Villains' album by Verve Pipe is great and I don't know it. Certainly, 'Photograph' and 'Freshman' from that album are solid. Seeing your thoughts. I'm sort of into the melodic alternative especially. I know some here are metalheads or on that cuff. I like to hear what you have to say, too, but it's less likely my cadence. Though, there is something to be said for something that rocks; when it hits it hits.

Don't know if this is too off the mark for you -

but I really dug most of Third Eye Blind stuff - especially the stuff that didn't hit radio a lot like
"motorcycle drive by" or "forget myself"

Check out some of the Seattle bands that were overshadowed by Nirvana/Soundgarden/AIC/PJ.

Tad - Inhaler + 8 Way Santa
The Melvins - Bullhead
Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff
The Gits - Frenching the Bully
Skin Yard - 1000 Smiling Knuckles
Love Battery - Dayglo

Also recommend the Mad Season (Layne Staley / Mike McCready) album if you don't already have it.

You don’t even have alternative if it weren’t for cats like...

Smokin Joe Wild
Blind Eagle Peppercorn
Otis Nixon
Fatbush “Karen” Gigglefart
Poopshoot Magoo

I’ve got tapes of all those guys.
You really can’t appreciate music unless you go start at the roots.

I mentioned that I was looking into 'Villains' album by The Verve Pipe. I listened to half on YT and was liking it. I may get it at some point. But today, I needed something relaxing and I had listened to all the clips of their 2017 album 'Parachute' and I liked it enough; so, I rolled the dice. It's a precision album; sort of like a bit of a bare bones REM type of album. The rockiness is fairly muted. Closer to the pace of an R & B album; but not the sound. I definitely like it. I'll give it a 4 or 5 of 5 stars if I get around to rating it. I can see 'Love Isn't Love' being covered by a big band or artist or being sang on one of those primetime shows down the road and coming into prominence. The current version is done well; but I don't think it's the right song for this singer so much. Anyways, the songs are lyrically strong and the vibes are decent. Hard to say on just listen, but there seems to be a uniqueness to the album that I like. It's sort of more like a this is life album than something edgy; and I could see how it wouldn't be for everyone.

Some of these grunge counter culture albums were good for the time. Would be fun when you're young and then maybe hit up the concerts. Harder to get into them long after the fact, but will check out this stuff as I get time.

If you want alternative melodic chillness, check this out:

And let it grow. At first, you might feel it's a little meh. After a couple of listenings you won't be able to have enough of it.

Avante sucked.

I have dropped that bit. Let's see how it goes.

I will apologize to you for taking you lightly. I didn't get how serious you are about things. I was just goofing off. So sorry about the bench thing.

Smashing Pumpkins have a new album and tour with the original line-up minus D'Arcy. It honestly sounds like they phoned it in on the album; but maybe I'll hit up the tour; maybe not. I've had some unexpected expenses that may force me to sit this one out.

That is the trend for all this teeny bop gloop. I still love the art of a well-crafted album.

For a time the wedding album was a $3.99 add-on item on Amazon and with the autorip. I'm kicking myself for not jumping on that. Also, this song can really hit right, live.
