Obama basically crowned Emanuel Mayor of that city. It was his buddy and former Chief of Staff.

Emanuel is one of the worst mayors in the history of human city interactions. City is broke now so Emanuel is making 12-16 year old children pay for his fuckups.

This shit is on both those scrubs. Yea more on incompetent corrupt emanuel but Obomba sponsored him.

President Obama expressed support for a possible run for Chicago mayor by his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, in an interview (http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2010/09/president-obama-to-pastor-jones-stunt-endangers-troops-full-transcript-of-exclusive-interview.html)with ABC News that aired today.

Asked if Emanuel would have the president's "blessing" were he to enter the race to replace outgoing mayor Richard Daley, the president replied, "I think he would be an excellent mayor."

Serves them right if they're stupid enough to buy Playstation Now tbh. 9% tax on Netflix is fucking bullshit, I wonder how much Spectrum / Comcast / etc paid for that one.

Isn't Playstation Now a flat fee of 100? :lol

It's been a few years since I had that but I didn't pay taxes or any bullshit like that.

Those aren't streaming services. The tax doesn't apply.

:lmao

The irony of Chicago (and the equally-bankrupt state of Illinois) giving hundreds of millions in tax breaks to the companies that produce the content that is streamed on Netflix and Amazon, then taxing the consumer at a 9% rate to consume these services, should not be lost on anyone. But video gamers who use PlayStation services got a rude awakening that they will be assessed the tax as well, thanks to a new “deal” between Sony and the city:

Fucking Obama and Emanuel

Huh? Playstation games are being taxed

It's not the games themselves. It's the online services. So yeah I guess Nintendo Online, XBox Live, and Playstation Plus all get that pos 9% tax. Steam doesn't charge for online so the tax could be 9999999% for all they care.

If they're really worried about lazy people getting fat, they'd put a 9% tax on fast food joints.

It's only an L if you actually pay for any of that shit. I dont.

Now, if they start fucking with Netflix, we go to war. :lol

Xbox is already doing that essentially because you have to have Gold or whatever they call their online service to get online.

Indeed.

Reminds me when they went overboard with car safety seats. 6-8 year olds do not need 1-2 inch booster seats...but "Safety" first.

It would be so easy for the government to combat obesity but it doesn’t because of lobbying from companies like General Mills.

One easy way to do it is change how food stamps work. You shouldn’t be able to swipe the ol Lone Star Card at Jack in the Box. There should be certain foods that you can buy with food stamps and it should be set up where you’re able to buy enough.

Fucking airbags too. I hate having to pay for them just because a bunch of people are too stupid to wear seat belts.

Eh, my local govt is passing a similar law. Not sure how it works over there, but here Netflix, Spotify, Airbnb etc don't pay any tax, it was bullshit for them to compete with local companies that do pay while they didn't

Agree it has nothing to do with public health, and if other companies in thosw fields are getting tax breaks that's BS too

It's kind of like the child safety seats- good to an extent. Children up to 4-5 years that are on the smaller end might need a booster seat, but honestly, with the way vehicle chasis and bodies are built with safety in mind, the rest is overly-worried stuff.

Too many airbags is an issue. Front, side, rear, overhead. Had a pal who got in a minor accident, got rear ended and the side airbag deployed with the front air bag and got a nasty orbital injury from it. Would have been perfectly fine if neither deployed.

Ah there was no sales tax charged for Netflix there, so the tax makes some sense at least. Can't cheer Trump's supreme court ruling states can collect use tax on online purchases and then trash Chicago for collecting a use tax on streaming.

As sales go from retail to online, it's understandable. It sucks, but it makes sense.
