This is worth the read. The article is a lot deeper than the headline.

Old news. Good article. Bowen had insight on Nephew since he played a mentor role early in his career. He got fired for the insight.

Better than it assumed for sure. With the Leonard and Aldridge situations, the last possible counter example to this star-driven culture is gone. I can't see it ever being fixed either. Basketball just relies too much on the individual players. Other sports can get away with it because not even the biggest stars can really carry a team. The league would have to collude to become really anti-player to reset the culture, and besides that being its own can of worms, at least one club would break the pact to reap the rewards.

Old news but still love Bowen for not forgetting the franchise where he thrived.

big companies of billionaires and millionaires gotta be careful not to suck the fun out of their entertainment business or fans will slowly find better things to spend their pocket money and tax dollars on

The article is better and goes deeper than Bowen getting fired. And frankly, it has made me even more skeptical of the media. It's because of the pressure to protect team image, how they project themselves to stars and such (the article mentions Kawhi the player, but it's ultimately the Clippers that want to protect their image and made the firing decision) that a fan being critical and questioning both franchises and the media in ways that you can perceive beyond the company line is justified. There is a lot of media manipulation unfortunately and no freedom of speech to voice your real opinion about a player or even a team strategy if you are getting paid by the establishment. That is biting the hand that feeds you... so if you are an intelligent fan, you don't need to be told about a lot of things that you perceive and are right to question if they aren't what they seem.

Everything is biased in the media these days, unfortunately. It's all driven by the dollar.
