Jesus, another embarrassing performance?!

If they can't come out fired up after losing by 40 in the previous game, then it's really time to tank..

Agreed, Pop needs to "get over himself" and start rebuilding in earnest.

I thought making the playoffs last season was foolish even if I like Walker as prospect.

They need to start over if this is the best effort they can muster up after a 39-point embarrassment.

grizzlies are going to lose this game. they have gone on a losing streak since getting Jamychal green got back who has 5 TO in this game this far, fouls a lot and they really don't get much bench scoring outside of him.

That chandler Parsons deal keeps killing them. If he could play and produce for their bench they would be better off. oh well.

Look at the numbers and accolades. Manu ain't touching either but you can go to your shrine of him and jerk - off in his honor.

One can argue that Tony's peak was longer and better than Ginobili.

Note: As if being 5th best when everyone above you, including Ginobili himself, is a HOF lock.

Anyway, this Spurs team is so inept defensively they've resorted to going to a zone defense. Sad.

This Spurs squad is like the B-17 taking a flak fragment in the engine. The 20,000 foot decent is now starting. It doesn't end well.

Now we'll see if the Spurs can execute a lottery pick in the Summer.

I don't think this is a quick rebuild either with so many players now from the US. They want their stats and the chance to team up with rigged rosters in big markets.

My League Pass payment is now officially wasted money for the first time ever. This team is poorly constructed and lacks talent/desire. It's a pretty pathetic situation now.

Pop does not have any answers for this mess.

The foundation of this franchise has been defense for the past 24 years and this team is god awful defensively. The players are just not able or interested in getting up in an opponent's grill.

Bench Forbes for White. And ... shit, there's no small forward to play. Congratulations RC, you have done a worse and worse job as the years have gone on, starting with Pau and Fatty. It just doesn't matter to be honest.

Poeltl ... just isn't that good. I know people think he would have been a PnR threat with Manu, I thought so too, and I figured the same with White just not as good. But he's not a PnR roll man. He has no pop and just doesn't make himself available. Milutinov destroys Poeltl with elderly V-Span feeding him. Poeltl basically is an untalented Splitter.

If Walker, Murray or any other future Spurs' guard can have 1/3 the success of those two, I'd be happy.

Conley was legit hurt though.

I know the Spurs are tender feces right now and getting destroyed by every team they play, but they STILL won't even be in the bottom 10 of the league after getting smashed by Houston.

They're just too on the side of mediocre rather than awful without a Conley-esque season ending injury to either LMA or DeRozan.

I love to have a laugh here and there, including in bad situations... nostalgia is there in the old DVDs, but it won't be bringing new rings... Tony didn't retire and said he wanted to be back, so we'll see.

It's not like sane fans didn't know the Spurs were going to take a massive hit once TD and Manu retired, tbh... especially with betas like LMA... c'est la vie. Now we're like 50% of NBA teams every year, mediocre, or outright tanking.

Hell, the Spurs gave away two starters in that deal.

How does that even work for RC and Pop?

Not enough to lose the best player in the deal by a giant margin, but the Spurs have to get the worst young player in return for another starter?

And what's really shitty is that Milutinov was available, his buyout was cheap. They didn't need Poeltl. They sure didn't need Marco with the MLE.

spurs in addition to having the worst support roster in the league (they may be the least talented team overall without Murray and Walker), they are completely defeated mentally, I do not see them winning any guaranteed game until real changes are made, and if it were not for Demar in the games against the Lakers, we would be worse, the pick 1 is a reality for this team

True, we can completely agree in all that.

I just can't understand how you build a modern NBA roster without one "3 and D" player or any legitimate SF's (other than Rudy but he's more a combo forward these days)?

They need to be sellers and stop thinking they can turn this around. This team lacks talent, effort and heart.

Agreed. that is what a package centerd on young players and picks don't hurt so much.

The team was likely to suck anyways, but with lottery picks at least you have an interesting team to watch. Spurs looking like this with 2 former all stars is just demoralizing. Terrible roster tbh.

Spurs had a really tough defensive team and they let go all of what made them competitive last season for nothing really. Murray getting hurt was demoralizing but he didn't carry the Spurs defense on his own like Timvp pretends ....

Agreed. But usually when a major player pulls this, the team he leaves suffers a huge drop. Often they are irrelevant for a decade or more. It is not unusual, just unusual for us. Makes it so much more painful that Toronto is doing well.

There have been cliffjumpers on this site since its creation. Every year they've predicted doom, and had to reset and jump again. So, making them sound wise isn't really accurate. They're just consistent and may finally have their day. Hardly brilliant.

Take ot from a Day 1 Raptors fan: You have to develop a self depracating sense of humor. The RealGM Raptors forum has long found ways to lighten the mood, look for the silver lining or look on the bright side. It will take a couple of years to understand what it really feels like to no longer be one of the revered franchises and to have hope snatched from you very early in the season, but these things happen in cycles. It'll come back around for you again some day. Until then, learn to watch DeRozan suck the joy out of watching the team you love, and understand why the Raptor fanbase feels little sympathy for being on the receiving end of this deal... a deal that is karma payback for Vince Carter doing us over in a similar way 15 years ago

I have also been a Hornets fan for many years due to them being my home team. So I already have experience with losing but the experience Spur fans are going to have with losing will be much worse due to losing arguably a top 3 player in Kawhi. Knicks are still a complete dumpster fire. Not even sure if Porzingod coming back as the same player and getting better can change them. The Wizards also have an extremely bleak future with their salary cap situation and Wall's albatross. Bulls will be trash for awhile as well. Spurs at least can have a clean slate salary-wise after next season (or at least have an avenue to get there without losing much) and control all their draft picks. Just need to hope PATFO have wisened up or retired by then without mucking things up further in the meantime.

The Spurs have two all stars in DDR and Aldridge and an atrocious surrounding cast around them (outside of Gay) with a bunch of miss-fits. And those two guys’ games are being impacted significantly because the Spurs lack key role players. And we’re at the point now where both guys seem to be packing it in. Never thought I’d say it but Gasol’s injury has been a huge hit too.

Not to mention the brightest two young players - Murray and Walker - havent played a game this year.

An infusion of youth is needed. It’ll be here next year in one way shape or form. This is a lost season, so might as well grab a top 10 pick. East is so bad that it’ll be hard to do much better than that.

Spurs could watch all the film footage, make adjustments, scout better, etc. It wont make a difference when they don't have the length, athleticism, and talent to compete. They're seriously like the least athletic team in the league.

How long before Bryn wants out as well?
As you know, I was quite critical of him in the preseason and he's definitely not a PG. And he should not be starting in a playoff team. Sure in the Spurs he's starting, but the Spurs aren't a playoff team.

However, to point out that he should not be starting is not the same as saying he's not an NBA player. There are teams that he could help. There are teams that need 3 pt shooting, a designated sniper to come in for a few minutes (not 30 fucking minutes like Pop is doing) and give you a spark. He could also be a regular player on some bench, even a good bench. He can shoot well and is a lot more aggressive and efficient scoring than last season when he was hesitant. But he shouldn't play 30 minutes for a good team.

I think it's possible he has some value to a contender. I frankly think there are benches he could help. The issue is what he can fetch you in return and I don't see anyone giving up a 1st round pick for him, but a 2nd? sure.

I don't see him getting traded unless he's packaged with someone though. He has a small contract. The contract that makes sense to trade is Patty, and keep Forbes. It's fine to have one small bench chucker who can shoot well, but not two.
