Not gonna write about all the players. I'll let TJ write that. I'm just wanna share on who stood out to me.
First of all DeRozan is the truth, when he's on. Tonight he was on. His ball handling got him buckets in the paint and open shots for the rest of the team as he was the leader in assists tonight for the Spurs. He recognized he was on fire and took over.
Aldridge was being played tough and he held his own. He had a great game offensively obviously, but he played really smart tonight. Didn't force the issue. He let the game come to him for the most part. I thought he played good defense as well.
Rudy Gay is super efficient. Not the best on defense, but his offense was on point tonight.
Jakob is going to be good. I think he needs to bulk up and improve his defense, but he's smart and should be a solid player.
White was a good draft pick. He's good offensively and defensively. He created a lot of offense tonight with his penetration. He was very good tonight. He also didn't back down on defense. I was really impressed by him tonight.
Forbes was alright. Even though he bulked up it seems he's still not tough enough to handle players like Lillard. He didn't force too many shots and that was a good thing.
Mills' shot was on tonight and he did a great job of running the offense and doing what he is supposed to do, which is provide a spark off the list bench.
Pop was good tonight. Here's the one thing I noticed that stood out. He didn't have LaMarcus and Derozan on the floor at the same time as long as he usually has. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed to me Pop did that on purpose to help Aldridge get into a groove, but it also benefited Derozan too.
Great game overall by everyone.
Side note: Al Farouq Aminu has potential, but he's 28. Could be a fluke game and could be because he's on the last year on his current contract, but I was very impressed. He was aggressive on both ends of the court and effective. I like him. A poor man's Kawhi Leonard almost.
