The Spurs continue on the road as they take on the Los Angeles Fakers tonight. The Fakers are led this season by LeBron James, considered by most authorities to be the greatest faggot in the history of basketball.

For their part, the Spurs are led by Patty Mills, famous for his terrier-like energy and enthusiasm, not to mention his terrier-like size. As one wag observed, "put a collar on him, and you could take him to the park." All jocularity aside, in recent games Patty has shown a much-improved ability to fetch the stick and chase the frisbee.

The Spurs defense has certainly put the rest of the league on notice with the emergence of powerhouse Davis Bertans, who blocked a shot in a recent outing.

The Fakers have won 14 games, against 9 loses, and currently hold third place in the Pacific division of the Western Conference. Likewise, the Spurs also have a won-lost record, and they also appear in the conference standings.

In injury notes, Fakers guard Rajon Rondo is expected to miss the game because of a hand injury. The Spurs injury list is unchanged, so the usual roster should be available, with everything that implies.

Should be a good one!

Go Spurs Go!

Likewise Spurs have a won loss record? Spurs record is that of a bad team with most wins against lousy opponents. Lakers by 20, and Mills is trash.

Me too. If the Spurs could somehow win these next 2, I could almost forget & forgive everything else. Almost. But at least the lucking Fakers can't do any better than tie us this season, since we already whipped their sorry carcasses twice.

Lakers aren't that good, don't have a pick next year, and it's best player is starting the long decent into being over the hill very soon.

That being said LA will probably win tonight.

After that Utah game, I'm taking a little break. I know what's coming.

"More than a quarter of the way through the season, The Athletic spoke to assistant coach Ime Udoka to discuss the state of the Spurs, their problems on defense, what issues need addressing and more. What do you see from this team after more than 20 games? Ime Udoka: A bunch of new guys that are figuring it out as we go. They’re learning about them, and they are learning about what we want. It’s been some inconsistency, but they are giving effort and trying to figure out a new system. (https://theathletic.com/693596/2018/12/04/checking-in-with-the-assistants-ime-udoka-on-spurs-ups-downs-and-surprises/) Obviously with DeMar coming over, what we do defensively is totally different from what he’s done his whole career. Guys are picking it up, but guys have been in and out of the lineup also. Pau being out, Rudy being out. Dejounte suffered an unexpected injury. So, some inconsistency but it’s expected with a new group and some injuries we’ve had.

Who has been the biggest surprise outside of DeMar and LaMarcus? Ime Udoka: Bryn Forbes. Bryn has been great. He showed a nice progression between last year and summer league and all those things, but you never know until you’re put in that position playing major minutes and obviously starting. (https://theathletic.com/693596/2018/12/04/checking-in-with-the-assistants-ime-udoka-on-spurs-ups-downs-and-surprises/) He got forced into a starting role, and he’s been great. He’s not a natural point guard and never played the position in his career so for him to come out and somewhat run the team and try to hold us together with the new group that we have, it’s been great. He’s playing great defense and working extremely hard. Playing a new position with a young guy out there, you never know. So, he’s been great."

I don't actually disagree. If the average Spur played Forbes-level D, they'd be fine. I think there's a big gap between that and him being a defensive ace. If he had Beli's height, he'd probably be about as good as White.

MEM is the most surprising team in the league to me. I cannot believe their style is winning so much (although when you put that much effort on defense in the regular season you will win games). But it’s a crazy run MEM is on right now. They seemed on the verge of death with the contracts they handed out, style of play and injuries.

Gasol has been huge for them early but is slumping right now, Jaren looks great but foul trouble with him is problematic. They have had different guys play well sometimes. They are inconsistent bc they don’t have dominant guys per se, but Conley is back JJJ is good and fun to watch, they picked up roleplayers that fit in with how they like to play. They have an identity. They could use Parsons if he was healthy or a guy producing on that contract and I think that still hurts them but that’s like whining about Gasol’s foot at this point. Can’t do anything about it but move on.

DeRozan on defense. Ugh.

It’s like he see’s Beli and others and is like “well, I’m not the worst!’

I just hate the way Pop is managing games these days.

You’ve been saying that for years now with his timeouts.

Can we get Bertans in for Cunningham to see if we can finish the half strong?

You say that like it wasn't true. It's becoming more than that now. Like what kind of lineup was that to close out the half?

Pop is the worst coach in the league. It's not even disputable at this point. He's gone senile.
