From this article: TONY PARKER, RUDY GOBERT AND THE WORLD OF THE BLACK INTERNATIONAL PLAYER IN THE NBA (https://theundefeated.com/features/life-on-and-off-the-court-for-the-nbas-black-international-players/)

Will you live in the United States when your NBA career is over?

Parker: I will stay in San Antonio. I’ve been there 17 years. All my friends are there now. I like everything. The people, the air, the culture, everything, all the memories. I have a [routine] there now. Schools for the kids, movie theaters, different restaurants. It’s just home.

I was surprised. I would have thought of all the Spurs star players, Tony would be one of the first to want to live somewhere else. Of course, saying it and doing it are two different things.

If it were the midwest I'd probably hang around Minneapolis, but I'd rather be in the Rockies or Seattle if we're blue-skying.

He still has his cigar joint with his brother? He’s a legend in San Anton and wouldn’t mind the occasional celebrity hometown treatment. I also think he would want to be an team GM and won’t mind succeeding RC someday. That would be a tough act to follow though, trying to sign big time talents in SA.

from SA you can go direct to LA and NYC, and many points in between. also TP may be one of those cats who flies private, so all he needs is a runway.

Oh man, it seemed like he always endorsed French players of varying stripes coming here. Other than Bobo most have not worked out.

Most players who spend several years here never leave.. the city is kind of ugly because of vandals but overall it's not bad here.

That's one thing I have noticed is a lot of Spur legends tend to stay in SA after their career is over. You have Gervin,David Robinson, Sean Elliott,Duncan, and I think even Bruce Bowen lived in SA before he worked for the Clippers. I'm guessing the warm weather and low cost of living along with privacy probably factors in why these guys stay.

It’s not as low cost of living when everyone’s asking 300+ for their house now

would be 5 - 10 x more in demand top metro areas.

SA median house price is about $240

Real Estate is going up all across the country but SA compared to other major metros is still cheap. For example a million dollars in SA probably still gets you a mansion while in other parts of the country such NY,Cali, a mil only gets you small regular sized house.

It’s not as low cost of living when everyone’s asking 300+ for their house now

The housing market here is trending up, but it's still very affordable vs other states. In California a 1200 sq foot single family home in fucking Compton is about a half a million dollars. All of my family in California sold their homes and bought homes here for a fraction of their proceeds.

300K here will net you a massive new home in a nice quiet subdivision outside of the city limits, or if you're an idiot, an old home in the historical district (aka in the middle of the ghetto).

My biggest gripe with the state of housing in the City of San Antonio currently, is that city leaders are trying to modernize downtown and make it more attractive to young people, students, tourists, etc.. To do that they bulldozed a large portion of the projects and in return gave section 8 vouchers to move the residents out.

Through certain programs the city will help prospective buyers via incentives to purchase homes in "revitalization" zones and affordable housing apartment complexes that are springing up all over the outskirts of town (aka areas they should have never been able to afford). Now these West Side and inner city ghetto pieces of shit with face tats are being moved right down the street from me and bringing an increase in traffic and crime with them.

Sorry France is a shit hole for major cities.Too many BAME types
Sure if you go to the countryside its nice and believe or not you can still buy small chateaus fixer uppers for 200-300k or so

But wtf wants to live in France,USA is by far the best place to live if you have real money
Taxes are the lowest and the living is easy compared to anal retentive EU dwellers

It’s not as low cost of living when everyone’s asking 300+ for their house now The housing market compared with Austin is still pretty affordable. Most suburban homes are selling at $125a sq.ft. In Austin it's $300+...so a house in SA for $300k would be at least double. Of course Austin is a whole other story with all the high-tech people moving there.

Of course I'm referring to where people of average incomes live. I read some time ago TP was building a really nice villa style place near town. Someone asked if it was in Fredericksburg and I'm pretty sure it's much closer to town.

Good to know about downtown. I didn't realize the programs led to crime spreading. Last time I lived in SA (early 00's), downtown was not really going through this process.

TBH I have been looking for a relative (and possibly myself later on). What do you think of 1604/Blanco in the Timberwood Park area? How does it compare to older neighborhoods like Huntington Place, by Clark HS (I-10/DeZavala) and Oak Meadow, by Churchill HS? Are those subdivisions too old now for home values to appreciate? Last thing I want is to buy something and watch it go straight down in value bc the neighborhood is going downhill...

Real estate is going up
traffic sucks way worse than before
taxes have gone out the wazoo
Californians have literally ruined us as a city tbh. They are leaving their overpriced cesspool and coming to our underpriced cesspool and jacking up the prices. Now our cost of living is up, but unlike all the pretty people in LA, you are stuck surrounded by whales.
But the food is pretty damn good :lol

Sorry, guess I was a little bit off. It's only 66.3% non-Hispanic White. Still higher than pretty much anywhere in metro Texas or most other metro areas in the USA.

The next highest is Asian at 13.8%. Black is 7.9%, and Hispanic way down there at 3.2%. Still favorable demographics.
