What's the point of acquiring Conley? He's good but guard isn't exactly a position of need (plus his contract and history of injuries are big concerns). A wing in the De'Marre Carrol type would be a much better acquisition tbh.

As redundant as he may be if I want a guard, which I don't, I would go after Beal. Conley is approaching old, is expensive, and is guaranteed to miss 15-20 games a year.

I agree.... team is gelling. Gasol is out of the rotation. Grizzlies are in big time turmoil now, perhaps they blow it up and just trade for Gasol (for sentimental reasons).

Grizz's also have a 25m/yr anchor in Parsons. It's much worse that the 16m/yr anchor in Pau.

Spurs should not trade for an expensive player. Player development doing wonders now!

The way White's been performing he's like a younger, bigger version of Conley on a wayyy cheaper contract. It's true Spurs have needed a Conley-type player for a few years now. Not anymore though.

The Spurs would be in a real bind the year after next with LMA, DeRozan and Conley on the books and Murray and Poeltl lined up for new deals. They just can't afford to pay that much unless they are getting an absolute superstar, and Con ain't that. In a world where Leonard had stayed, maybe you could have considered this, because that trio is much better balanced. Now the team just has to ride with the guards they have.

Porter's nowhere near the top. You got Wiggins and Batum and Parsons as SFs with worse deals. Then you have guys like LaVine, Gordon (ORL) and Harrison Barnes making bank without being impressive. Then you have big deals for guys out of the rotation like Mozgov, Miles Plumlee and Ryan Anderson. Even in what is a bad year, Porter is better than all of those guys. He'd definitely be the worst contract on the team, but the Spurs could work around that because of his fit and youth
