No matter the era, teams will always be desperate to elevate the status of white American players..you still have teams giving out 100 million $ contracts to Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons:lol

Is Bruce Lee Bowen NOT role player? Is he going to the HOF? How many all star games did he make?
By comparison, Derek Fisher and Horry has done MORE for the Lakers than what Bruce Lee Bowen did for the for the Sp*rs...
Do you think the Lakers will retire their jerseys? Hell no. Why? Because they are ROLE PLAYERS! :lol
But I'm the idiot :lol

Bowen was a significant contributor on championship teams, and considered a premier defender in his prime.
Collison was a solid bench big, no rings.

Fish won 5 rangs for the Lakers. That's more rangs than HOF James Worthy. Guess what? He's not getting his jersey retired. Would you say he was a significant contributor for Laker success? :downspin:

bruce bowen isnt the most egregious for the spurs, its avery johnson. bowen was a good player and one of the best defenders in the league during an era where the spurs were known for their defense. i would agree that he's a stretch... but collison is beyond absurd. he was a solid bench big for a while. thats it

Sure. What would be the issue with Fisher getting his jersey retired?

Heat showed a ridiculous amount of loyalty to Haslem. Kept him for two-three years way too long. At least Collison was making contributions to the end. I can see the Heat retiring Haslem's number when the time comes, too.

That is true, in terms of retiring jerseys. I’m pretty sure LAL only retires HOFers.

Haslem defended Dirk and Duncan in some of their championship years. He was also like their Ginobili, the heart of those teams. In the 00's he was a pretty solid player. If Prime Haslem played in :lol Today's NBA :lol he'd bully ball his way to a max contract and be a Draymond/Harrell-type big.

The la lakers cared so much about a Minneapolis legend that said legend had to lived in poverty for much of his old age and couldn’t even afford his funeral.
:cry we retired his jersey because he won five championships for Minneapolis but I won’t even lend him a red cent to get buried
:cry I want all the credit and none of the responsibilities.
