It wasn't historic, but Philly's pass rush was pretty good. The game against Philly was basically sealed because up the middle pressure led to a Brady fumble.

IMO you can beat them with just a pretty good (not historic) pass rush and a dominant offensive line. You need to dominate in the trenches because you're almost guaranteed to lose the Xs and Os battle.

The quote was about how a certain type of QB, despite coming in as the majority once again failed to make the SB. It was meant for all of the 5 not just Mahomes, but yes his 2nd half was great, especially that game ending pass he threw to the Pats DB, in double coverage, for reasons?

Patriots had timeouts to spare. He took one to give the chiefs a chance to tie the game. And that’s exactly what happened. If he didn’t take that timeout there’s be no overtime. They’d have lost right there.

If Dee Ford doesn’t line up offsides the narrative is Reid beating bb. Brady being a legend in overtime and not letting chiefs see the ball isn’t an indictment of reid

He was talking about the retarded timeout at the end of the FIRST half when they were down 7-0 with about a minute and a half left and it was 3rd down and about 7 and Reid called a timeout to be aggressive but the Patriots converted and ended up throwing that long TD pass to Dorsett.

This post affirms my point, if you want to beat the Patriots using the offensive route, you have to be steady from the 1st quarter on like the Eagles did last year... you can't just punt away the first half like the Chiefs did in both meetings with the Pats this year, and expect to score enough points in the 2nd half to storm back and win.

You must be confused. I'm talking about the retarded timeout Reid called towards the end of the first half, when the Patriots looked content to run out the clock. After that timeout, they promptly drove downfield and turned what should have been a 7-point game at the half into a 14-point game.

It's this kind of stupidity that defines Reid's teams in the playoffs. That, and blind loyalty to bad coordinators like Sutton. Bottom line is that the Chiefs had to play catchup against the dynasty Patriots because of Reid's shitty coaching in the first half, and that's just not going to work most of the time.

Peyton would have demanded a trade away from a coach who didn't let him call his own plays, so there's no scenario where he and Belichick have the illustrious run that Brady and Belichick have.

I think Brady leads the 2006 Colts and 2015 Broncos to super bowls (not saying much since neither team needed anything out of its QB) and probably the 2005 Colts + the 2013 Broncos for that matter.

There's not a fucking chance Peyton comes back from 28-3 against Atlanta though, we've seen what happens when his team gets off to a bad start in the superbowl (:lmao lubing up his asshole and saying "Thank you sir may I have another!" to Pete Carroll)

No, I'm saying that circumstances have played a vital part on this whole Manning/Brady argument. If Brady would have been selected by any team that had a decent young starting QB, he probably would have stayed as a substitute his entire career.

Manning on the other hand was a generational talent that couldn't be ignored at any point of his career.

Just one example of how stupid your logic is, what team with a good young QB would be drafting Brady? Any team drafting him would have had to have some need at QB.

Main reason the Patriots even got here is because Matt Patricia wasn’t around to pussy up the defensive gameplan. Brian Fores actually has the balls to blitz every once in a while and not just sit back in “bend but don’t break” style cuckball.

Their defense was pretty impressive considering they aren't particularly talented IMO..surprisingly got a nice pass rush most of the game, too..they were better than the score implies..

Agreed.

My ideal racial breakdown for a coaching staff has always been a defensive minded white guy as the head coach, a white offensive guru as the OC, and a black guy as the DC who can rely on the head coach for actual Xs and Os / brain power while calling aggressive plays and getting the players amped up with African battle cries.

FWIW, I have no problem with people ranking Brady over Manning, in fact I might actually do the same, just like I would rank Duncan over Shaq because of longevity and accomplishments even though Shaq was, imho, the better player of the two comparing both at their absolute primes.

The difference being that peak Shaq was noticeably better than peak Duncan, and peak Shaq also had a substantial amount of playoff success. Peak Manning consistently choked in the playoffs, his two superbowls came with him playing game manager. Brady has both game manager superbowls and superbowls where needed to put of tons of points.

What exactly can the Rams do to win?

Patriots offensive line has been DOMINANT so far against 2 great pass rushes..maybe Donald and Suh can generate pressure on the interior, but it won't matter when 100% NE's gameplan will be to use short passes and wheel routes against LA's LBs..

Rams have been killed by the run all year, too..

Are they really gonna be able to beat them in a shootout with Goff and weapons that aren't anything special other than a potentially injured Gurley?

Their offensive line is going to need to dominate the way Philly's did a year ago but I don't think it's that good. The way you beat New England's D is by completely removing the pass rush so the QB has 5+ seconds to throw. If Goff has all day to throw then the Rams have a chance imo.

On defense, as you said, it'll pretty much come down to Donald and Suh. If the Patriots are able to block them then Brady should be able to move the ball at will. The Rams' secondary isn't very deep after Talib and their safeties are awful against the pass.

Exactly. Just look at how much the hard cap/injuries decimated the Seahawks after they looked like a dynasty in the making after the 2013 season. There's so much parity in the NFL that winning > 1 superbowl with the same core of players is extremely difficult, let alone 3-4.

The reason why so many folks had (and still have) a hard time placing Brady as the GOAT despite all his success is because he was never as individually dominant as a Jordan in basketball. MANY smart football people consider Aaron Rodgers to be the most talented QB of all-time(based on the combination of arm talent and mobility), yet he's only reached ONE super bowl..

Brady's arguably the smartest QB of all-time(on-field), a great talent AND he the circumstances in his favor like Jordan did..

No one still has a hard time calling Brady the GOAT outside of Manning/Montana fanboys. Everyone else has accepted it.

There's no individual way to dominate a football game like you can at basketball. In basketball being the best player on the court automatically gives your team a chance at winning, in football no matter how good you are you need a team around you. :lmao "the only times he got a good defense the dude got the SB"

I guess we will just have to wait and see. Personally I don't think it's far stretched to expect a GOAT level QB to win 3 or 4 SB's somewhere down the line.

On a long enough timeline, yeah I suppose.

None of Manning's SB runs were anything special tbh.

And yet, those are the years he won it all. That's exactly what I'm talking about. :lol

Peyton Manning is the only QB in NFL history to throw more INTs than Touchdowns in a postseason and win the SB.

:lmao How does Fivehead still have fanboys putting him in the GOAT discussion? Despite playing on mega-stacked teams his entire career, in an era of inflated passing stats and greatly curtailed defenses, he has the most one-and-dones in NFL history. End of discussion.

Shit's starting to seem realistic now.

As long as he's able to cheese dick his way through the regular season and get a 1st round bye so he only has to play 1 playoff game without a bye week, he might as well.

As long as nobody flattens him, he will probably play into the next decade tbh. That big hit will come any day now, gotta enjoy it until then.

Why not? He doesn't have to run and he didn't even have to use his deep ball tonight..he can make those 5-10 yard passes all day and his intelligence is always superior to the opposition..

It's the best offensive line he's played behind in several years imo (:lol the Giants overpaying Solder). If they can keep that group together then it'll prolong his career, Thuney is really the only weak spot imo. The right side of the line is elite with Cannon/Mason.

I'm worried another team will overpay for that big motherfucker this off season but they have a 1st rounder waiting in the wings if he leaves.

Tbh it's a shame that several good years of Brady's career were wasted with retreads and backups like Connolly and Wendell on the offensive line. If Brady has a group that can consistently give up 2.5 - 3 seconds to throw then he's pretty much unstoppable, and that's what he's had since the current core of Andrews/Mason/Cannon has been around.

Rams just don't feel like they deserve to be there after that historically awful call, may as well see some more history made.

Literally every time Brady has a mediocre game, the discussion all week is about how Brady is finished. I’m as guilty as anyone else of it. Also there’s tons of high profile media guys who trash him weekly and predict he’ll fail (Kellerman, Sharpe, Rex Ryan, Rob Parker, SAS, Clay Travis, etc). And then half the country hates him for the MAGA hat. People are ready to bury him every week. Even after making it to Super Bowl #9, if he loses people will IMMEDIATELY say it’s the “death of the Patriots dynasty”. So of course he’s playing the underdog card. 95% of the country hates him, wants him to fail, and will have the biggest orgasm of their lives if he loses in 2 weeks.

Damn...are PMSing? So dramatic today.

Beneficiary of a blown call. I thought the D showed up pretty well all things considered. Holding Thomas to sub 100 yards and both Kamara and Ingram to less than 50 years rushing were key. Thought Goff missed some killshots after looking small at the beginning. It's going to be tough to usurp history and beat Brady and the Patriots. But, if it happens that would be a pretty apropos bookend to losing in 200/01 and sending the dynasty one year closer to the crescendo.
